DAAAAAAMN, chapter 4 is dramatic.
Towards the end with the spider lady I was fucking SCREAMING and shaking my controller. Damn. I spent a long time kinda idly exploring the room before all the action set off and it was fucking heartpounding right to the chapter end.
This game is damn good.

lol. Just imagine if you dismissed the game after only playing the first chapter. =P

My problems with Ch12:

-
The driving minigame played itself, as I posted last night. I accidentally finished it without moving the fucking analog stick, because I thought it was a cutscene

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK

I thought that aswell. lol

Only realized half way through it that you have control over that.

Chapter 4 was awesome! Was I the only one who kept
trying to run past the guy at the end after getting away from spider thing? Finally dawned on me that I should nope the fuck out and head upstairs.

Love this game.

Played through the first 2 chapters tonight, and really liking it so far. idk if they were intentional references but i got
manhunt pig man with chainsaw and SH Homecoming intro flashbacks, and the blatant resi 1 first zombie encounter throwback.

U meen Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Jacob's Ladder, rite? Though yeah that last one was indeed a RE1 homage.

Laura is one of the scariest creature design I have seen in a video game. She reminds me of a combination of the Licker from Resident Evil 2 and the creepy girl from the Grudge.

anyone know if they implemented "cheats" like in Resident Evil where you can get unlimited ammo and stuff? or different skins?

she gets less creepy after dying to her a bunch of times, lol.

first time i saw her, i didn't even want to look at her. now i sit patiently underneath traps while she saunters over.

So are both
the dog boss and laura
completely beatable in every encounter ?

Laura is beatable in every encounter, and there is an achievement in beating her in Chapter 10 (and some reward for beating her as well. I'm not sure about the dog, I have not beat her and have heard of no one else beating her. It might be the only monster in the game that's unkillable, and part of that may have to do with its origin story, which involves it being fed many sacrifices and ritual blood to become demonic.

Time for someone to use the
rocket launcher
on it. If that doesn't kill it, welp. lol

Also making some slow and steady progress on Akumu. Dunno how the hell some guy beat it in 10 hours with only 20 deaths. I'm about 2 and a half hours in and only on chapter 3. I keep saving whenever I do something like kill a couple of enemies or disarm some bombs (because that area is so much smaller, though I am getting used to it). Was funny because I never heard the nurse say it before, but I was saving so much in Chapter 3 and she said "so you're the worrying type" or something. lol

i made sure i killed
the dog,
its charging attack was annoying me too much. it wasn't hard at all, i just shot it with my sniper rifle while it burst out of the bushes, then used my explosives after i ran out of rifle ammo.

i killed it. i don't think anything special happened, just got some more of dat BRAIN GEL :D

It's really unsettling when she she insta-kills Sebastian with the grab + headsmash finisher and then moves in close to the blood spurting out of his neck in a weirdly sexual way.

Just finished up chapter 5. That was one hell of a doozy. Was tense from start to finisg! Sadly I have to stop for the night but cannot wait to pick this back up tomorrow.

YESSSS, found another diary entry. I don't know why I'm getting such a kick out of these. I'm just really trying to immerse myself as much as possible and I'm coming off the grimoire from Destiny. I was so excited to find another one I switched over to post about it before reading it.

I wonder what Sebastian is up to this time...

Little bit late to the party but picked it up after seeing a friend playing a part against "Laura". Got to the end of chapter 1 and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Definitely a scary game as the only horror games I've played through to finish is t last of us and resident evil 5 (lol). Looking forward towards getting scared all night :(

Finished chapter 1. I don't know, felt really underwhelmed by the whole thing. The game seems to have been made on a really low budget, which isn't bad, but the visuals are very disappointing.

Also what's up with RB button on the Xbox One controller? Absolutely hate pressing that thing to crouch. Can't believe they spent $100 million on this crap.
They did?!! Where does this come from? Tango have like 65 devs only, and they were much smaller when they first started working on the game, no way TEW is a $100 million game!

Wrapped up tonight around what feels like near the end of chapter 6, it's a but longer than chapter 5 from what I recall. I'm loving this game, I just want to take my time with it and discover everything that I can.

So has anybody ever gotten the stealth kill on the
chainsaw guy
in chapter
3
? Was wondering how that's done. Was thinking either you're allowed to
stab him while he's chained if you break the fence down early or you gotta blind him or something.

You have to blind him, but it isn't an instant kill. I did something like an explosive bolt, a few shotgun hits, then kept doing flash bolt -> stab, it took 2-3 of them
.

So far I got the extra trophy on 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10 and 14. 10 was the hardest by far.

Try blinding bolts. Maybe that gives you a window.

Anyone else finding this game fairly tough, even on casual? I think it's the aiming, I can't hit for shit. Just on ch4 and loving it, but I tend to prefer less of a challenge and more of a scary story with these sorts of games. Maye I'll improve.

So I've been loving the game up until Chapter 9. The setting and horror in the chapter was really good but I found Mr
Ruvik
to be more of an annoyance than a good feature. I admit
his
appearances did increase the horror element quite alot and kept me on my toes, but I would have much preferred just being able to explore the
mansion
in my own pace.

Chapter 10 wasn't that bad but oh god the
return of Laura really fucked it up. I really hate these kind of boss fights when you have to do certain things to progress instead of just being able to kill her. Especially when all her moves 1-hit kills you (finally get why people are annoyed by this)
. Other than that I think it was all right but not the best. I did however like the end
boss. Helt felt like a proper boss and I didn't have much problem with him
.

Just started on Chapter 11 and I quite enjoy the new setting. Was looking forward to running around and just kill some Haunted, that was until I met the very annoying
masked haunted
. I also entered an area where it looked Haunted
were infinitely spawning (which is a feature I very much dislike)
but I could be wrong about that. Will have to progress some more to get a good feel of this chapter but the game definetly took a hit on the last two chapters IMO.

Just wrapped up chapter 5.

I'm surprised how easy this game is on Survival. Oh well. It's still really satisfying at times, but the end boss of chapter 5 was just a cake walk once I had died once, then prepared myself to use all of the set pieces and items in the room. After a few good shots and grenades, it was over.

I wish I was at least unnerved by the creature design, but it just looks like something that I need to kill fast, not something I'm scared to look at.

I do think the game is pretty good so far though, I just think it could have been more challenging, it's funny that so many reviewers rated it down for that. Well, more sad really, the game shouldn't be getting a "NO" from Kotaku because of it for one thing.

I can finally see the end of chapter
3
in
AKUMU
mode in sight. All I have left to kill is
fake Ruvik
and the
chainsaw guy
. Managed to clear out the rest of the place. Thank Mikami for checkpoints and save room. lol

Update: Boom beaten! =D

So currently on chapter 10 and I got 2 big glitches until now :
- one in chapter 4,
in the room full of bodies where you have to kill all the ennemies to unlock the door. I killed some, then, I could still hear their sound but couldn't find the rest of them anywhere. It seemed they had disappeared
. Had to reload.
- the other in chapter 10,
when fighting Laura, there was the music like she was there, but she was nowhere to be found and though I shot all the levers, I couldn't go through the wall of flames.
Again, had to reload.

Did somebody else get these? Playing the PS3 version by the way.

Is there any other way to kill the chapter 5 boss other than
using the switch or shooting barrels?
Would a flash bolt and a sneak kill work?

I got one on the PS4 version where in chapter
10
Laura disappeared but that was at the final stretch where you gotta pull one more lever before running to the elevator. But I was able to turn off the flames and initiate the elevator cutscene.

I don't think you can stealth kill her at all. I don't even remember if she reacts to flash bolts. You can burn bodies to keep her from spawning on them. And I'm not sure but I think someone said burning all bodies would pretty much kill her but I dunno for sure. I just hit her with a couple of torches, pulled the lever to dunk her in the fire pit a couple of times, used a barrel or two, and shot her with the shotgun a few times.

Burning all bodies won't kill her, it will deny her to respawn. So after you burn all bodies, including the one in the middle she initially spawns from, if you trap her in a furnace after, she won't be able to respawn and you are done with her, for now.

I actually thought it was a very easy and straightforward fight, unlike the one in
ch 10 where i must have died more than 30 times in the last part of that Laura chase.
I am well aware i suck :p

Got to chapter 10 on my "no checkpoint/1 save per save room" Akumu run tonight. It's been a total blast to play the game that way, without any safety nets essentially.

Chapter 9 with no saves at all until after clearing out the area was beyond intense hah. When
Ruvik showed up it was hard not to panic a bit. Makes you realize how much checkpoints kill the tension because they're just super frequent.

Chapter 10 might be unrealistic with no checkpoints though, you have to go through 5 super challenging encounters before reaching a save room. I don't know if I'll be able to manage that chapter honestly.

Crazy fun way to play the game though, stream chat was going nuts all night hah! So many clutch hype moments!

Ah okay. I didn't think
burning all the bodies would automatically cause her to die. I figured you'd have to burn them THEN knock her out so she can't spawn.

lol forget that...I'm having a hard enough time doing it with the checkpoints and stuff. I saved pretty much every time I cleared a room in chapter 3. I just don't have the time or the patience to lose a bunch of progress if I get killed by something. It's still really tense for me though.

Finished Chapter 5 hours ago. Probably won't finish the game before Halloween at the rate I'm going >.<

As for the chapter,
so glad I won't have to deal with that shrieking wench anymore

Just finished Chapter 10 on NG+ last night and apparently you can actually kill
Laura with the Bazooka
. I shot
her once in the first part of the final chase. 2 times in the second room. 3-4 times in the third bigger room and maybe 4-5 times in the last room and boom the silver trophy popped!
. Not only that but also you don't trigger the cutscene with the
elevator escape
, so you can use all the loot and find
a statue-key on the right side before going into the elevator.

Yeah I was really wondering why I couldn't access that stuff after I
entered the elevator and escaped. lol. But man that's crazy it takes that many rockets to do her in.

Gotta throw goopey-goop into the accuracy skill. The description is confusing by saying it reduces weapon-sway when I don't notice much sway. Before upgrading that I could have all dots of the reticle square on an enemies head and the bullet would miss. After upgrading it I now always hit. Extra bonus is the skill tree is super cheap!

The rockets don't actually seem all that good here, probably because it gives you around 20 of them. It obviously blows up enemies well enough, but it's not like a Resident Evil rocket that obliterates bosses.

Laura in chapter 10 specifically just takes a ton to put down. I actually used around 4 incendiary bolts on top of harpoons and constant gunfire, and the fire traps in the room. I actually found it really dangerous to try and use rockets since you're stuck in place and she can instantly kill you if the rocket misses.

Yeah I bet. I'll have to try it sometime. I'm currently doing an AKUMU mode run right now though. Figured I'll get the hardest thing to do out of the way first. I normally don't care about trophies/achievements, but for some reason I feel like doing this. Haven't done a game like that since Lost Planet and did the Extreme Condition mode. Man those were awesome times. I came back to play multiplayer with my friends after going through Extreme mode and I was so much better at aiming because of that that I was just dominating people. lol
