Ok, you guy's ready? You know what I'm going to say, right? All together now...

I didn't know QbQbQb was coming to IOS! Really enjoyed the game on PC. It's stylish and colorful but can get really tricky and challenging

The dev is also working on Jameson The Pilot. The FTL, Out There, space sim fans here will want to keep an eye on that
http://youtu.be/Tbxzq8WYlOA
(Trailer says Steam, but it's also coming to mobile)

Between you and Tunesmith cooked a good title for this month thread. As we starts, it ends (ports). They are more and more common these days (a great thing). So, QbQbQb I am interested in it... can you tell me if there is some kind of depth of evolution or it is always like the browser demo I tried, where the only thing that changes is the speed that the block drops?

No, it's basically just that. Circular twitchy Tetris, with an extra variant mode where you need to put blocks on opposite sides to make them disappear. But it's well crafted and polished. Rezoner is a great dev, I enjoy a lot of his stuff.

Flick Kick Football (and the free ad supported version) have actually been pretty huge for us, and continue to be good earners in our portfolio.

Funnily enough as I look in our reporting now they've coincidentally made about the same as Flick Kick Football Legends (like within $100k of each other), though they did have a 3.5 year head start and Legends is pulling out ahead in front.

Maybe you guys can consider a "premium" priced Flick Shot Basketball style game with some of the passing/stealing mechanics from the new game? :D

Oh yeah GTA is nice on the Air 2, plays really well.

Something about it I have noticed is that due to how thin it is the speaker kinda acts as a rumble pack for the iPad, car exhausts and gunfire (and voices and music and everything) cause the iPad to shake a bit. I kinda like it weirdly enough.

Hopefully it performs as well as the WWE Supercard game. Wouldn't mind having the dedicated NeoGAF OT that has either.
It's pretty nice ui wise. The lack of real nba stars does hurt the appeal though. Also the game lacks any sort of restart previous game after a crash is really unfortunate. Had the game crash twice on me during power plays. Losing those energy due to crash, not good D:

I really want that Final Fantasy Tactics on my iPhone 6 Plus. Seems like the perfect form factor for it. I will wait for the sale though.

Grabbed Shadowrun for my iPad Min. I'm really liking it so far.

Dragonfall will be released in Novrmber, apparently.

Could someone send a twitter to Harebrained Schemes asking if the game will be a new app or DLC, please? :)

I was checking what other 17+ games are now available on the BR App Store (long story, but they were all absent until a few days ago), and I just noticed that Bloodmasque is dead:

Thankfully this seems to be the only game where SE won't be fixing anything, as the other ones that have issues with iOS 8 have text saying they're looking into it.

I'd bet it'll be a new game, they recently made it in to a standalone game on PC, and it's probably way too large to be DLC. Dragonfall is way better received than the original Shadowrun Returns as well, so it's in their best interest to not shoe-horn it in to the first game, which is not nearly liked as much.

Taking donations for November's paid subtitle.

Yeah, I think so too. I would like to have a confirmation though, since the original is on sale now.

Bioshock didn't make the cut. Actually, most of 2K games didn't. I wonder why...

What other 17+ games did you discovered?

There is no way anymore to downgrade to iOS 7 ? That's it guys ?
So now a good number of Square games aren't working, waiting for a fix, or are left in the cold and seemingly will never be fixed (Bloodmasque).
I swear I never should update iOS before months have passed.

Not really Apple's fault here, complain to Square.

Oh, totally. Well, I still think it's strange to update the system so much as to break legacy compatibility, but there is no doubt in my mind as to who the assholes are here, believe me. I'm talking about 'Bloodmasque isn't working on iOS 7, there are no plans for a fix so play it on an iOS 7 hardware', not the understandable 'Ok this doesn't work anymore, please bear with us while we work on a fix'.
Still, while the blame is not on Apple, I experienced the iOS update that transformed the Ipad 1 into a big pos, and now that. You can't blame me for being more than lukewarm to update my system now.

OS updates routinely break legacy compatibility (Windows, OSX, etc. etc.), most vendors submit appropriate patches for their products prior to release though which are either baked into the OS drivers or as program updates. Square is simply not investing in their existing iOS catalog. There probably isn't much return for older titles they've released (maybe their super-premium price points only work when a title is new).

A one year old game for Christ sake. One. year. :S

Earlier today I was mostly looking at the Square-Enix games, so I noticed Bloodmasque and Deadman's Cross. However, Deus Ex: The Fall is still absent for some reason. Outside of SE, I also saw Shadowrun Returns (just bought it on the sale). Gameloft's Gangstar and Modern Combat games are also showing, plus Call of Duty games/apps and some other military games. Walking dead games and apps all present too, plus a bunch of zombie games.

I don't understand what's going on anymore though, it's definitely not a ratings issue. I'm guessing it's some switch flipping on the publisher's side.

For example, within the SE apps Hitman: ICA isn't available, while THIEF Companion is. Both are 17+ companion apps. And it's not something related to the Hitman franchise since Hitman Go is available now (and even translated in Portuguese).

999: The Novel also still isn't available. Bioshock, like you said, and none of Rockstar's 17+ games are either. I just hope that any 17+ games released from here on out are automatically available from day 1.

Knowing iTunes Connect, it's labor intensive going back and enabling new storefront availability in apps, especially if you have many.

Errr, sorry you are right, I usually call "energy system" timers. Adventure pack removes the lives system, the timers, altogether. And its doesnt have double currency just coins. The 20 moves you get on each level are needed, without them the game becomes a walk in the park, a horizontal one with no hills and horizontal escalators (dont know the name of those). There is plenty of energy bricks ) all over and if you match more than 7 (upgradable, (one of the four formulas in the game) you get a special shard that helps. Its balanced.

Oh, I agree. I was thinking, "The energy mechanic seems like an intrinsic part of the gameplay. It doesn't seem like removing it would be a good idea."

So for clarity for others: the energy system is a core element for the gameplay and not a monetization strategy.

Also really enjoying it. Recommended!

Good to know actually, I do hope it's just that. The absence being related to manual switching in the system would mean there's no lingering regulatory hurdle preventing those games showing up. Apps being unavailable because of arbitrary reasons was a problem for years on the BR App Store and I hope it's all in the past now.

At least on Windows the community will fix the issues, if the developer doesn't. There's 999 times out of 1000 a workaround to a broken game. Not really a whole lot you can do with iOS other than find a device with an older OS on it still. Even with Windows, you could dual boot OSs, so if Windows 10 breaks some game on your machine, you could boot in to Windows 7 on the same box and play the game.

Ok. Stupid question. Been juggling games and got back to Ghost Blade, which will probably end up being my favorite purchase this week despite it's flaws - mostly in the translation.

Anyway, I'm stuck at one of those places with that fog-like stuff. What do you have to do again to make it go away? Sad. Losing my memory after just a few days :(

What the fuck?

That's shameful. I haven't even got around to playing it yet, and now it's just junk in my downloads list?

I wonder how I go about getting a refund. Not that a couple of quid matters, but it's the principle. They ought to be forced to put a large disclaimer on their titles stating that they might stop working at any time.

I've just started playing Broken Age and I'm bowled over at how gorgeous it is. Really well put together too, I think I'm really going to enjoy this.

Yeah, I got it from the US App Store when it went free but haven't touched it either (aside from making a funny character with my face). I actually only saw the warning above because I went to download and finally play it. So much for that!

Sucks that support can be dropped just like that, I can understand when it's a dead or unknown developer but SE is very active in the mobile space and this isn't a good look for a big dev.

Yeah I'm pretty pissed at the whole Bloodmasque thing. And as Dave said, it's the principle that I have a hard time swallowing. I mean until today I was convinced the game was always a F2P and I didn't know that there is a good chance I paid for it. It's not a price thing. And I understand that there comes a time when a game sells so little, be it premium or iap, that putting people to work on a fix seems like a waste to the publisher.
But the game has been released on july 2013. One year and three months later, a problem occurs and all Square is able to say is "well, too bad guys".

That doesn't look like healthy industry practices. At all.

Apps that required iOS 7 would give you an error message of some sort if you tried downloading them in 6 or lower. It seems like they should be able to do the same going the other way. That would keep people from purchasing incompatible apps, but it would also depend on the developer setting that requirement too.

Bloodmasque was fun if only because of the face importing function. That was a riot that got me through several levels. After the effect wore off, I found myself not liking the game as much. The fact that they're dropping support completely would make me cautious about buying games from the same developer in the future. At least this one was free.

It looks promising but I'll definitely need to see gameplay or impressions, the screens and trailer don't tell you much of anything. Is this twin stick style?

Here's an App Spy hands-on from back at E3.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jm9cVwhpHrY

Definately a twin-stick shooter but looks like it has puzzle elements and a lot of 2.5D style environments that will have you navigating up and down. Also the trailer on the App Store itself shows quite a bit more diversity than the hands on shows (even though the trailer is short).

Not sure about the IAPs. Hope they're just optional.

Looks good enough that I think I'll TOFTT. But won't get to play it until later tonight.

Speaking of twin stick shooters, wasn't there a really good one recently ? Memory is ultra hazy and I could misremember. Lot of blood.

The two recent ones I can recommend without a doubt are Inferno 2 and Crimsonland

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/inferno-2/id888166669
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/crimsonland-hd/id912719088

If you guys haven't played Crimsonland yet, I highly recommend you check it out. It's a direct port of the PC game and it's fantastic. If you're familiar with forum member Toma, it's his favorite dual stick shooter.

Thank you, it was indeed Crimsonland. At first glance I wasn't interested but I must have read your recommendation and was intrigued.

Haven't played yet so have no idea about the balance or any need for grinding. But I can confirm that the IAPs in A Few Days Left are for credits and there appears to only be one currency.

So hopefully, those are earned at a good pace and the IAPs are only for the impatient.

Fingers crossed :)

I see one of my favorite titles from Forsaken Media is getting quite the graphics bump in the sequel. It may not look like much, but it drives 100+ units on screen at once, and runs at a very smooth framerate with no drops, even the original still looks pretty fine in motion to me (for what it runs on anyway).

And Pitta, no mention of Super Glyph Quest, or did you already talk about it? Wonder if that's another worth getting, impressions from the original were very positive, iirc.

You can find the game on the App Store here

Been playing a bit of Escape from Montegrande, it's a pretty neat time waster. Very similar to Skifree, except you're skiing from police, multiple of them. You can purchase persistent upgrades and various weapons to fend them off with. You also don't die when you run into pine trees or other obstacles, you ping pong bump around like in a pinball table.

The game seems to have multiple thematic sections of the mountain you're skiing down, it starts out with pine trees and ski jumps then transitions into jumping over buildings or other things like tents and huge tires. These are supposedly randomized to some extent increasing variety.

Eh, I confess I have yet to buy it.
I've read it's bigger and better than the first (which was already pretty good) while maintaining the original charm.

I'll buy it sooner or later and provide feedback...right now I'm busy playing Talisman and testing Galactic Keep: Dice Wars which is GLO...GL...which is pretty awesome.

I have a really important question I need solved quickly... please help. I am offered the iPhone 6 in white (no black here), gold or silver. I always had a black model and I worry about the white borders on the 6, are they too distracting? Can any gamer with a white iPhone tell me more about this "panda" effect I am reading about?

When you say White, Gold and Silver, do you mean Space Grey for silver? There's no black model full stop. White borders aren't distracting, but if you want black, get Space Grey. It's what I've got and it's lovely.
