Nintendo under shipment woes strikes again with Bayo 2.

I had trouble finding it yesterday, also. Checked 2 Wal-Marts, 2 Gamestops, and a K-mart with no luck, but I finally ended up finding it at Toys R Us, of all places, lol.

I rarely use to pre order but with GCU at Best Buy it's actually a decent deal. Even more so since First Party games regularly take a while to see a price drop and are sometimes hard to find at release.

I get that people don't like to preorder. I really do, but when something is sold out, you have no right to complain.

It's like going to a new marvel movie midnight and getting there at 11:30, I can almost guarantee its sold out from people buying tickets in advance.

Good luck with that; this will sadly likely wind up in the bargain bin in a few months like every other non-Nintendo Wii U release. Though maybe all of the GOTY talk will help save it; I don't remember if Bayonetta 1 was so praised when it was released.
I mean, despite limited copies, its seling out everywhere, that should be a sign to you that it isnt a game that will just end up in the bargain bins.

And to think that I almost didn't preorder it.

It would suck to be hyped for a game for 2 years only to not play it at launch. I would cry.

Should've pre-ordered, might be different in America, but Nintendo only ships to retailers to cover preorders.

Most of the time I can just go to a store and buy any Nintendo game that isn't oop, including all new releases. Bayonetta 2 was no exception.

PS. I live in Germany!

Hate to break it to you guys withwithout a copy, but the Wii U is retail deadweight (surprise!). Retailers will carry enough for preorders plus one.

Nintendo isn't under shipping. You're just not helping raise demand.

lol there's a BB every 10ish miles. I can hit three on my way home from work. Bought my preorder from Maple Grove yesterday FWIW.

If you need the Bayonetta bluray the MOA BB is the only one in Minneapolis that has it, and it's a good $10-12 cheaper than any other retailer.
Yeah EXCEPT DOWNTOWN. Its crazy to me there isn't one on Nicollet Mall

Meh, called ahead to the MoA location and snagged a copy

It's well documented in this thread already from various anecdotes, but I snagged the last copy from my local Best Buy as well.

Saw this thread at work during my break and rushed straight there after my shift. Thanks GAF.

Hope Bayonetta is pulling stronger numbers than 101 did, Platinum deserves it.

gamestop 1 - no

target - no shipments to that store, told me some others that got it

gamestop 2 - "we got only 1 copy left, that was close, should've preordered! would you like to get this for free today by signing up for our credit card? anything you'd like to pre-order? smash is gonna be all sold out for sure"

LOL Why are you blaming Nintendo? We only have ourselves to blame.

low pre-order > bomba > small shipment

You didn't pre-order, you are part of the problem.

Yeah I received an e-mail that I won't be getting my pre-ordered Special Edition until 29th because Finland is receiving them in two shipments. I'm like whatever because it's not like I'm that much looking forward to it. Just heard it might be a cool game. Still weird I can't receive games at launch day I pre-order well in advance. Oh well going digital with next Nintendo machine either way.

it kind of sucks how important pre-orders and first month sales have become in the industry.
Think for a second what kind of gamble it is to Stock Bayonetta. The first title performance was lackluster, and 2, it's for the Wii U, the worst selling of the 3 systems. You can't really blame them.

Since we're sharing anecdotal evidence, here's mine:

I went into Grainger Games on Saturday (UK-based dedicated videogames store) and they had two full stands worth of copies of Bayonetta 2, split pretty evenly between the game on its own and the Bayo 1 + Bayo 2 package.

The two stands had previously been stocked with Sims 4 (on its release week) and Borderlands: Pre Sequel (on its release week), so they certainly seemed to be pushing it hard.

oh i dont blame them one bit but it still sucks that the industry has come to this.

I think some ppl need to get into the habit of pre-ordering niche games.

I get why Alien's Colonial Marines and naff pre-order bonuses would put ppl off preordering altogether, but a 10/10 dead cert like Bayo 2 and niche games like retail shmups, Altus games etc should be the exception especially those who use B&M over online stores.

EDIT

In fact some niche fans consider it their duty to preorder since those copies can often be the only ones a store would order. I remember when CAVE shmups got PAL localisations like Deathsmiles (PAL STGs are always bargain bin fodder) some shmup fans would order multiple copies from their local stores in an effort to push sales. W101 could have done with those fans to boost copies on store shelves.

Is this a good sign?

We see threads like this for most Nintendo games where people are trying to push a narrative. I did an online check and every major online retailer has plenty of stock and a store locator scan shows every store within 100 miles of me having copies.

That said, it is in 6th place on the Amazon charts so that is at least something. It probably won't be a mega bomba on the level of W101 but still a sub-100k retail bomba.

Totally! Smaller games like these are when preorders make sense. I preordered Bayo2 because why the fuck not? It was five bucks, would I could have refunded if I changed my mind.

If anyone happens to be around Kansas City, the one in the mall got a crapton of shipments, so I had no difficulty lol.
