On a lighter note, fans of brick breakers should check out Grey Cubes. Excellent variation on the genre with a lot of 3D twists and physics elements like the fact that blocks actually react like they have weight. And it keeps throwing new elements at you as you progress.

Very easy recommendation for it's $.99 introductory price.

Decided to get this after reading your impressions and other thoughts elsewhere. Really enjoying it, very nice visually and the 3D physics allow for interesting dynamic levels

I know it sounds weird....but I strongly advise against any videos or more impressions about Device 6.
STOP.
If you are intrigued, or you like Year Walk (just enjoy it...it's a 4-5 hours affair)...just get Device 6.
The less you know before hand, the more you will enjoy imho.
If you find it utter crap, I'll offer you an italian coffee and a croissant next time we meet :p

I watched some videos but didnt understand much about it. But if you guys recommend it, I am in. Tonight it is. Decided.

Ok I am buying that tonight too (iPhone is currently discharged waiting to arrive home to charge it) haven't played a brick breaker in a long time. I read on a Spanish website that it has enough additions to make it feel fresh. Thanks for mentioning otherwise I missed it.

Come on, Apple, if you want people to take IOS seriously, you have to treat your audience like adults

Underworld: Drug Lords is a 2008 resource management game that was rejected from the App Store by Apple. Now, it's returned as Underworld: Sweet Wars.

Yes, that means the weed and cocaine has been replaced with bon-bons and chocolate.

Same reason we got Stealth Inc instead of Stealth Bastard or Smuggle Truck turned into Snuggle Truck

Yeah Pitta is right-looking up anything about the game ruins it. It's not like you get "Tips" there is only a solution.

I have followed the conversation on King of Dragon Pass, so I think I know what I'd be getting into. Might grab it later today, Appshopper shows that it has never been this cheap before, so seems like the right time to jump in.

If you're into PC gaming, you can get even cheaper. Currently $1.49 on GOG

No, it's different again. Completely new structure, different tone.
Oh? The navigation seemed Year Walk-ish to me from the trailer.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Wayward Souls... urge... to... snap... 6+... in half...

Gnumz TD is currently free (Not sure if it was always free but it looks like it was usually $3

Not sure if its the same makers as Kingdom Rush but the UI looks pretty much the same. And its pretty fun so far.

Wayward Souls... urge... to... snap... 6+... in half...

Its all good 6+ bro. Careful you will end up bending it!

Awesome work.

Run Sackboy, Run is out worldwide now. Fun endless runner that doesnt have timers or double currency.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/run-sackboy!-run!/id914865605?mt=8

Complete Year Walk first!!!!

You´re right... I tend to hoard apps. I wish-listed Device 6 on iTunes.

Damn my hype (in a good way) is through the roof (as of how many of you love it). Must play Year Walk now...

You will finish it pretty quickly most likely. Best thing to do is play Year Walk, and then use the companion-and then something will click, and you'll need to go back to the original game. So don't delete it until you're finished with both.

I'd been waiting for The Banner Saga with Pitta for quite a while, but I think I'm going to hold out just a bit longer for the PS4 version rather than try to run it on my iPad 3. That iPad Air 2 is calling me...haha.

http://www.theguardian.com/technology/appsblog/2011/sep/14/apple-phone-story-rejection

On one level, Apple can't be faulted for its transparency on this score. In September 2010, it published some App Store guidelines, available to all developers (and reprinted in full at the time on several websites). "We view Apps different than books or songs, which we do not curate," explained the document.

"If you want to criticize a religion, write a book. If you want to describe sex, write a book or a song, or create a medical app. It can get complicated, but we have decided to not allow certain kinds of content in the App Store… We will reject Apps for any content or behavior that we believe is over the line. What line, you ask? Well, as a Supreme Court Justice once said, 'I'll know it when I see it'. And we think that you will also know it when you cross it."

:(

Yeah, the tilt-shift screens I've been seeing from this game have looked awesome. I hope the iPad version can pull it off.
Actually the devs had to tailor down the PC version so it would be the same as the mobile version. So they couldn't do things like weather, since it would be too intensive for tablet specs

Ooh...cryptic hype

Okay, one more question: is there a sense of exploration or is the game relatively linear like YW and D6? (I'm assuming you've played the game going by your previous comment)

That's a harder one to answer without giving too much away. Simogo's official blurb should hopefully give you an idea:

A peaceful narrative experience, in which the only objective is to satisfy your curiosity.

Explore serene structures on dreamlike islands and piece together memories – some even existing beyond the screen of your device.

That sounds all fine in theory but I don't remember trading sweets in Chinatown Wars.

edit: I thought this whole drug to sweet thing sounded familiar.

Prohibition 2: The Dope Wars - rejected by AppStore

CANTERBURY NH (Jan. 9, 2009)… Catamount Software announces Prohibition 2: The Dope Wars, for the iPhone has been rejected by Apple.

Prohibition 2: The Dope Wars is a remake of the cult classic game DrugWars for DOS and the Ti calculators. The basis of the game is you play a drug dealer in New York City trying to make as much money as you can in 30 days in the the currently illegal drug market.

Catamount Software developer, Hardy Macia stated, "I personally find applications like iFart much more repulsive, yet Apple has approve it. DopeWars is about current political events. We had alcohol prohibition in the 1920s, and we have drug prohibition today. It is no more objectionable than many of the songs and movies Apple is selling on iTunes."

Prohibition 3: Candy Wars - approved by AppStore

CANTERBURY NH (Jan. 15, 2009)… Catamount Software announces Prohibition 3: Candy Wars has been approved by Apple for resale on AppStore.

In Prohibition 3: Candy Wars you play a candy dealer in New York City in the summer of 2040 during the height of candy prohibition -- a few years earlier, due to an obesity pandemic the United States Congress declared sugar was a highly addictive substance and banned the sale and manufacture of all candy. Your goal is to make as much money as possible in 30 days without getting caught by the FDA or run out of town by the loan shark's thugs.

aka, sugarcoated DopeWars: CandyWars is a reskinned version of Catamount Software's remake of the cult classic DopeWars called Prohibition 2: The Dope Wars.

http://www.catamount.com/PressReleases/CandyWars.html

I guess you can't knock their consistency (against the indie dev, at least)

Picked up Lumo Deliverires, Haunt The House and Thomas Was Alone. Going to give them a shot (well I know Thomas should be good), sounded interesting.

Ah, is Simogo's new game in the same style as DEVICE 6? I actually preferred its structure compared to Year Walk. I'd be happy with a new one every year, even.
I'm guessing it's even different still. They have a track record of making very unique games, not just from other games out there, but from game to game.

But as with Year Walk and Device 6, the less you know about The Sailor's Dream, and the less you read about it before going in, the better your experience will be (most likely). I watched the latest trailer, but am now on a media blackout until after I play it.

As for needing a pen and paper for Year Walk or Device 6, I don't agree completely. I definitely recommend trying to play without writing stuff down. It helps if you have good puzzle solving skills and spacial awareness, but not writing everything down will keep you from over-analyzing the games.

I'm torn. I bought a mini 2 after the announcement and, since this old iPad is an original iPad 1, I've not gamed much on the iPad in the last couple of years. I'm considering buying something like the Baldur's Gate bundle or maybe Monster Hunter.

I've got a copy of the latter for PSP and own the Gates on PC. I'd like to play them again and the novelty of doing it on the iPad seems nice, but would the playability take too big a hit? Should I even bother?

I found that jotting down notes helped immensely while trying to remember certain sequences in YW and D6 IMO

Fine. Keep your secrets :p

Okay, last thing: on par with or exceeding the bar Simogo set with Device 6 and Year Walk?

(Do you write for a site? A beta tester?)

I'm a freelance games critic - I write for a number of sites and magazines.

I'm currently having an internal debate over where it ranks in the Simogo top three, which should tell you all you need to know. ;)

The number one sure is not debatable. Anyone who doesn't think that spot belongs to Beat Sneak Bandit is out of his mind.

As much as I enjoyed BSB (and I love stealth games) Device 6 is their best IMO. It was a such a rewarding and innovative experience that utilized the strengths of the mobile platform to perfection.

The Banner Saga + Game of Thrones

I want that in my life...

Would you rather the rest of The Banner Saga trilogy, or a GOT game in the style of Banner Saga

Remember, there are no wrong answers here. Everyone wins at the end of the day no matter the option

Nothomg wrong to say about the ipad mini retina 2. Just got it last week and i think its thr perfect size. I really enjoy it morr than i was with my vita. And seriously, dont bother eith the ipad mini 3. Its thr same specs as the 2 but with touch id, which is really not necessary.

Does anyone think San Andreas will go on sale for the holiday, or will the price drop be as good as we get for a while? Really thinking about replacing my GTA Vice City with it.

Edit - I misread what you were asking. I don't think it'll be lower than it is right now, no.
