Assassins Creed Unity Leaked PS4 version shots (Confirmed 900p / 30fps)

I'll give you Watchdogs, but I ran AC3 at an almost perfect 60 FPS back when it first launched. If I recall I had to lower the draw distance, but that was the only issue I remember having.

The whole point of me saying that was to illustrate that unless you can run the released version at 1080p max graphical settings with 120+ fps, there's no way in hell will people would be able to run the game at the same settings as E3 "gameplay" videos.

The amount of graphical fidelity for the resources you give them is poor and bruteforcing seems to have has steep diminishing returns in those games.

Know how popular HATS are in Team Fortress 2 it seems Ubisoft has tried to get part of that market with their new "Hat Pop-In" feature of Assassin's Creed Unity

I think it's the whole NPC model changing here. The video looks pretty good to me though. The city is beautiful but the vaseline filter is definitely there.

Point being it was more of a rant based on the reveal PC footage how TOP PC cards struggle in alot of cases to push everything to max to the .
Ubisoft PC ports aren't the best optimized games ever that's for sure, but the performance (from my experiences with them) isn't actually that bad. You have to understand the "max" PC settings of AC4/WD/FC4/Unity have very impressive tech that isn't on the console versions, therefore it's not completely unthinkable that high-end GPUs have a hard time running them at a steady 60fps.

It could be better of course but optimization isn't Ubisoft's focus when porting to PC.

Should add this gameplay video and the gif to the OP.

It would just get mostly ignored in favor of cherry picked screens or picked apart frame by frame in order to find even the slightest imperfection. But yeah, on the whole the game looks amazing. It must have been a hell of a lot of work crafting this world and all of the gorgeous architecture over the past few years. Can't wait to appreciate it, despite whatever flaws there might be here and there.

What's a vaseline filter? Never heard of this before?
Watch Dogs when you look up close looks slightly blurry due to not being full 1080p. However, due to compressed screenshots, that effect is very exaggerated in the screenshots of the OP. Proof of this is in the fact that both the gameplay videos which are rendered at 720p, even the youtube video which is a copy of a facebook video, look less blurry than them. But these screenshots will be proven to be bullshit in due time. :D

I would imagine it's an extension of what they did in AC4.

http://bartwronski.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/ac4_gdc_notes.pdf

Hope that helps.

Read this first section on GI. Basically they pre-baked the light probes for 8 cycles of day/night. The light probes are NOT being generated on-the-fly (ala Aliens)... so no real-time GI yet. To add to that, I remember them saying they dumped the day/night cycles so for now it's one pre-bake per level load.

It's a new generation so I expected it to be rough around the edges. I think it looks very good, but we'll have to wait at least another year before we get a polished next-gen Assassin's Creed. Remember, this game has a massive world. The typical Ubisoft deadline definitely impacted the presentation.

I'm beginning to think that maybe Rogue will score better.

From the video, the buildings look good and movement seems fine, still looks a bit too blurry (720p video). The people look bad in stills and in motion.

Still not buying it purely because of the forced parity bullshit.

Welcome back Eden. So you're saying if it was 1080p the vaseline would be gone? I like your thinking. I want 1080p.

Yeah I'm seeing that. Idk, the gameplay and graphics in the gameplay videos look good. It looks clear to me, not terrible - so I'm not getting the huge exaggeration on the game being downgraded. I'm just happy it looks like a true AC that I've been waiting for for all these years.

But the central consensus is the blurry look is what's being called a Vaseline filter then? That's what it means? Or because it's not of a higher resolution so that the natural effect of that trade off?

That gif is 359X202 pixels or 72,500 pixels. 1600X900 is 1,440,000 pixels.

Down sample any image and it'll looks somewhat passable. Now show me the original running upscaled at 1920X1080.

As much as GAF likes GIF's they're a terrible, terrible measurement of IQ due to their size and compression. The only valid data they provide is data on animation and interesting effects.

Non native images need to be upscaled, that alone causes blurryness. I think a lot of us see other problems in those screenshots though.

That's some aggressive LOD model change on NPCs in the PS4 youtube footage. Jesus. I think that I'll stick to rooftops for the majority of the game if the final product is like that.

Just from the leaked ps4 videos has a more stable framerate than the xb1 version seen a month ago. And this is before the day 1 patch.

The actual game certainly doesn't look as blurry as these screens.

Past few years? The last one got pumped out this time last year. I think the dev cycle is less than 3 years, hence the technical problems because of rushing a title.

Can we reach 50 pages of pixel counts and nitpicking of a few bad screencaps from a blurry video file? We can do it guys! :D

Also, I'll take good art direction/animation/presentation over graphic fidelity any day of the week. Some of you will never be pleased sadly.

They have had a team working on Unity since the completion of Brotherhood, if I am not mistaken. So yeah, past few years.

Are you fucking serious? there's the video, the game looks amazing, you're just trying to find an excuse to shit on the game, ugh... I'm glad 99% of the people won't see the bullshit going on here and will just buy and enjoy Unity, this is getting ridiculous, I'm bailing out of this thread, the bullshit levels are just too high.

That gif is from the video that was posted in the thread. Which is a youtube video of a facebook video.

Game has been in development since 2010. It was always supposed to be a title for new consoles.

Yeah, the fps doesn't seem all that bad from that video. I noticed some pop-in on a previous video in the thread (especially the chapels window).

Not to nitpick, but his arms clipping through the railing and entirely through the plank at the top of the building when he swung on it was pretty distracting.

Not sure you're going to find an open world game these days that doesn't have spotty collision. I have problems with this game, but little things like that aren't one of them.

Also wanted to post this, impressions from the guy who played it on ps4. Translated form french.

Last reply before disappearing into the crowd like a murderer;-):
Strengths:
- history
- the atmosphere
- the gameplay
- graphics,
- the many buildings to cross
- the Life NPC
- the soundtrack
- the density of the population
- the beautiful city of Paris,
- the fighting
- the character customization. Cons: - some graphics - "downgrade" so general - the Personal sometimes hangs a little in places where we do not want (but this is less frequent than before) For the rest I have to continue to play;-)

So the graphics apparently still look great but not as great as the PC version. Which was shown at e3. And the gameplay is fun. This is good news. :D Source is available if anyone wants proof of this.

I suppose you're right, though it was pretty jarring just the same. It's probably a different story when you're actually playing.

If this is the sort of thing that stops you from playing or even enjoying a game, you should stop playing 3D games. These sorts of bugs happen in every game especially the more complex you go graphics and animations wise.

Almost seems like you're nitpicking for the sake of it. Hmmm.

That's nice. It's not something I would even pay attention to while playing. Shit like that happens even in some of the greatest games I have ever played.

No need to get tight, friends. I said it was distracting, not something that would stop it from being an amazing game. I'm only in the thread because I'm semi-interested in buying it.

The way the game works is that the first 100 or so npcs are fully rendered and animated, so in a crowd of thousands with the player moving through it the game is constantly rendering and generating fully detailed npcs, pop in seems more common and noticeable when the player is sprinting.

Downsampled, and it's a gif. Not a good barometer for IQ.
Watch the youtube video to see the source of the gif.

No word on the framerate? That's the thing that worries me the most and I haven't heard any good impressions on it yet. People only talk badly about it or at best, stay silent.

looks great, but ubisoft cant win on gaf.
the amount of hate they are getting is ridiculous.

They deserve every ounce of hate regardless of if the game looks fun or not. Gimping one version of the game to please their marketing partner is the definition of anti-consumer and some people (like you) just take as if it means nothing.

I definitely notice this shit on my 55" and it drives me insane. My wife always comments on it too making it even more annoying when I try and ignore it.

then stop playing 3D games altogether bro, this kind of clipping happens in ALL 3D games, if you could stop trying SO HARD that would be great, cause af of right now, you're just embarrassing yourself.

Then we should wait until the game is ACTUALLY RELEASED before burning them alive, don't you think?

Good to know his overall experience has been good with the game.

I assume he is the same person who posted the screenshots and videos yesterday.

This has never been proven beyond baseless claims from other gaffers about both the games indefinitely being exactly the same. With one gaffer actually saying when asked about proof is "Do you really need proof?"

is this in the OP? This is what the game looks like with ps4 using the screenshot feature on the ps4.
