Am I the only one who wasn't pleased with xenoblade at all and isn't impressed with this? Like... At all?

Meh, guess so. I just await the day Monolith returns to make another excellent DBZ RPG

Of course the music is God Tier, this is the guy behind the OST for Kill la Kill, AoT and Gundam Unicorn. All amazing soundtracks. Can spot his work from a mile off.

It helps that Takahashi is super strict with music, too. The Iwata Asks talking about Xenoblade's soundtrack was a great read...

Does the first game also take place in LA? I always thought this game was your typical fantasy and didn't have locales like that urban area. That was incredibly off-putting for me. They don't seem to go together at all. Yuck. :(

Not sure I like the New LA angle. So we're going to see present day architecture instead of architecture belonging to sentient alien species? No Frontier Village or Alcamoth?
New LA is the city crashlanded on the planet (you can see it in the first seconds of the trailer, the huge dome detaching from the spaceship and crashing on the surface). So it's obviously a modern city. But we know nothing else about the planet and its civilization.

They don't because it's an Earth colony that crash-landed on an alien world...

You are not the only one. The first xenoblade had it's positives. The music, the artstyle, the world design were all top notch. The characters were charming and the story was decent. The combat was initially very fresh but after 30hrs became very boring. It all came down to whether you were the right level for the enemy and then perform topple backstab attacks until everyone dies.

I hope they do something to make the combat more interesting because everything else looks stellar right now.

Tried upping the image to 1080. Always kinda hard to upres stuff from 720 to 1080.

Yeah no pop in was the first thing I noticed, guess they really took the time to polish that out.

In the very first reveal there was but its greatly improved now.

The idea is Earth is uninhabitable so they literally build ships that transport parts of Earth but the ship containing LA crashes onto a remote planet.

So you get this:
Coupled with this:

never left the stone age
I think Xenoblade X might be the game I am most looking forward for on Wii U. The main theme is that good. Plus mechs, mechs are badass.

song just exploded my dick

it's gone

You mean music contains gluten too!?

Seems like polish has been the focus for a while now. The E3 build seemed very far along.

Hopefully that means this game doesn't have any Makna Forest-level pop-in. It got pretty disgusting there.

Why are people saying that there are more towns in this game? It seems like New LA will be the only town since this is a new world they crashed on.

If the design of the urban area was different, I bet I would be fine with it.

Poor Wii couldn't handle all those trees. Thankfully the Wii U is a much more powerful system.

Opinions man, not everything a collection of people on GAF hypes about is what everyone is gonna love.

There are clearly alien species in the town footage, which may or may not have been on the ship when it crashed, not to mention the likelihood of others on said planet...

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.

The map in this game will be 5 times bigger than Xenoblade.

The mechs (Dolls) are 5 times bigger than the player.

Fuck the scale in this game is INSANE.

Man....I'm loving everything about this game, but I'm not sure about the combat. I've never really played anything with an auto-attack (I believe that's what it is?) and it's kind of putting me off. I'll probably pick it up and try it though, everything else is so perfect.

FUCK! Awesome

Natives? We've seen Nopons and other alien races that might have already inhabited the planet which could have towns/villages of their own.

So you haven't played Xenoblade? Play that, this game looks like an improved/expanded version of that game's battle system.

If Xenoblade X still has a huge emphasis on story and isn't just "make a bunch of missions in cool environments" then I'm pretty sure that your party is going to discover some other civilisation that's already living on the planet sooner or later.

That did kind of concern me. Iwata almost made it sound like a game built off the WORST part of Xenoblade - the sidequests.

New LA is probably the "home base" city like Colony 9 and later Colony 6. Makes the most sense. The game does look really good. Too bad about the music though. Hopefully there's a custom soundtrack option or something. :(

I don't think that was the intention - in interviews, they've mentioned that overhauling the sidequest system was a priority. This might just be putting focus on a major improvement to Xenoblade's formula, rather than a shift in direction for the game itself.

Speaking of Makna Forest i can't wait to see the Makna Forest equivalent in XCX.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Continues to look fantastic. I want to play it right now... like if it came out today I'd go buy a Wii U just to play it.

All the songs we've heard so far sound fine to me. I don't get the Sawano hate, but I've also never heard any of his stuff prior to this since it's apparently all anime music. So maybe the soundtrack will be inconsistent or something?

He's the musical version of a writer who lacks all subtlety and hammers the audience over the head with thematic points and reminding them what and how they should be feeling in every scene to the point of self-parody.
