Would be amazeballs. You see that continent over there? You can go there
...in the sequel.

The faces are pretty bad. Been that way since we got a good look at them during E3 this year.

Why not
in the DLC? :p

Ad for the faces, maybe it's just me but I they look nice and unique. Just an artstyle thing I suppose. Kind of reminds me of some 90's anime looks, which I like.

really hope I can make characters change outfits. Or haircuts. lol

Extremely likely on both counts. Well in Xenoblade, changing outfits just meant changing equipment and there were a lot of different options. This games seems to be heavy on customization. Wouldn't surprise me if there was a computer or barber you could go to for a makeover at will.

Edit: Oh wait you mean the other characters? Maybe not haircut but probably outfits.

Artstyle they definitely look good (or maybe unique), I think the biggest problem is their translation to 3D.

One good thing is, you can make the main character's face look good heh.
In the tree house, making the eyes smaller helped immensely.

Yeah but that was a better look at them. Like the girl in red I remember from the E3 trailer, and I don't think she looks that bad. It's the person I assume to be the main character, and the left most girl.

Let's talk about party members. So based on that title art it looks like the two girls and the heropon make up your initial party.

Meh. I'm super excited for this game, but Monolith REALLY needs to get somebody else to do their face modeling. These characters literally look like dolls, especially the little girl.

So I think no Co-op then.
I wonder what the chat windows in the first trailer were, then...
Looking forward to it anyway! I'm really feeling it!

That's not at all what I said. Don't do that. What they're going for is an earthy look (what's more, they're on an alien planet - it doesn't need to adhere to the kind of stuff you'd see here on Earth). Making it more vibrant runs counter to the intended aesthetic. It's that simple.

If you don't like the look, fine, I'm not going to argue this any further.

To be honest, we haven't seen much yet. This game looks huge... and we keep seeing mostly snippets of the first area.

Colony 9 and Tephra caves weren't all that great to begin with. Gaur plains was the first wow moment, but it wasn't until Satory (night) that the locations began to really shine (no pun intended). By the time you got to arguably the most impressive locales, Eryth sea, Valak and the fallen arm, you had already traversed all of Bionis.

That would be amazing, but I think this will have a conclusive ending as that whole thing seems like a more Hollywood thing to do cos they gotta milk dat IP :p

I wouldn't be surprised if there's signs of other survivors in the story however, visual cues, cut-scenes, audio logs etc
and maybe a epic last chapter where you actually go into space Gurren Lagann style with the help of all the other survivors
depending on how outlandish this will be :p

A man can dream...
I now demand a planet sized mecha minimum to show up.

in the DLC? :p

50+GB DLC download for each continent, please understand.

I don't know yo, something about their faces is off.

Not enough ominous latin chanting

Fair enough.

It's not so much that the music's bad, but rather that the composer is known for unsubtle mediocrity; and all of the pieces we've heard so far don't do much to distinguish themselves from his other work in arrangement or composition. Coming off Xenoblade's score, 'pretty good' is a massive step down.

That seems unfair when we've heard a grand total of...five songs form the score.

I'm a sucker for this kinda architectural city planning, but how exactly does this place...work? I'm guessing it's like Venice, but what's with all the water? Is it a theological or historical importance or just for show?•_•

I wonder what white dots in the minimap at the top are. I'm assuming the exclamation mark is quest related.

Tall alien just walking down the street. cool beans.

So what do people think? I think it's pretty interesting that if the main character is female that will make all three initial human characters female. Something I don't think I've seen in an RPG with both genders in the party.

As for future characters I'm really interested to see if they include a large number of alien species playable. In the following screenshot you see two distinct types of aliens just hanging out in New Los Angeles. I think these might be immigrants to Earth that arne't from either of the warring alien armies.

xenoblade_x_scr_06.jpg

Look at the trailer from E3. There is one alien dude in a mech combat nodding. Then there are two more animal looking aliens (a red male and purple female) later in the trailer. They look very distinct but I wonder if any are of the same race as another.

Also there is that sequence in the trailer where everybody nods. Elsa and the black-haired girl are there I wonder her many others are party characters too? My guess is the alien guy and the final guy with black hair. The other three people seemed less detailed and too generic to be party members.

Maybe the game will have a party pool that you choose to go on extended missions with that will focus on them with the plot?

You just ruined the ending which sets up the sequel.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be the halfway point, similar to how in Xenoblade
You go to the Mechonis around the halfway point of the game.
. I just hope they don't lock out places permanently like Xenoblade did; made things kinda a pain to finish. -_-.

If not a crazy GL-esque ending, I would love a heartfelt Gunbuster style ending...I mean its crazy mechs in space fighting aliens after all so there's only two ways to go about it! :D

I dunno... they haven't said anything and the initial reveal hinted at online play. Not only that but we got a tease of a keyboard looking icon. That could mean anything but I dunno... to me, just adds to the fact that this game will have some sort of multiplayer.

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
I like the character designs pretty well. The ones in the first game were kind of forgettable.

I'm the opposite, I think Xenoblade the character designs were decent but the personalities were strong so the net out was good. So far, I don't like anything about these designs at all. Either art or 3d modeling, they look really off to me given the design of the game and the art overall.

Granted maybe their personalities will change the "feel" of them but it feels more like a hope than anything else based on what little we have so far.

Still, pretty excited for it despite that

I dunno, its about what I would expect for a open world game given the relative power of the system. Although I find it odd that the mustache guy looks significantly better than the rest. Is it because the other characters are player created? I can't remember if that's a thing in this game.

This doesnt use a "timed mission" structure does it? I cant stand that in monster hunter or similar games. I dont see anything in the screens except for a time of day thing (alien planet with the same day length as earth?)

Otherwise this is looking absolutely incredible.

Unlikely. Xenoblade didn't and it would kind of go against the "take your time and explore" feeling I think they are going for. Most people don't rush through Xenoblade, they take their time and the game encourages that. I'm sure this game will as well.

I've never wanted a game more at the moment. Insane. I knew it would happen since it's a Nintendo game but love how more polished the game looks now.

My thoughts exactly, lol. Well the main character in that shot definitely looks off because his eyes are way too low and he has sort of a baby face that's kind of planted above a toned body.

Something about her design and modelling just really bothers me.

They're running into the problem japanese devs were running into a gen ago. You can't just put anime looking characters into a realistic looking world without them looking like dolls.

Of course, this trope is sometimes ignored when designing guys because males tend to have more detail in their faces and smaller eyes relative to the size of their mouth and nose. That's why gruff old man seems perfectly fine (facially) and everyone else in that screenshot has a wonky looking face.

Amazing. I can't tell whether I'm more excited for this or FFXV. Hype levels for both have already shot into space. I can't wait to dig into this game once it releases.

Imo, it's better than this :x

Of course, I won't say no to something better! But since I saw worse, I don't really care...

Damn. The gifs posted here are getting me hyped, and almost everything seems great, but I'm just not really feeling it. Probably because I just don't know how I'm going to like the combat, but I should be trying out Xenoblade soon so I'll make my impressions then I guess.

And damn it, you can straight up tell it's Sawano from that track. :/

That New LA gif is making me pretty excited though.

Okay, so it's not just me. That guy's face is better designed than all the others. It's...weird.

I just don't understand a single bit about the hype for FF15, I have no faith in this SE.

As much as Square's earned the ball-busting, the game looks good. Flat out.

What I'm curious to know is how this ties into the first game, especially
knowing that the earth/universe is destroyed in the first game. I just don't understand how the humans are from Earth and colonize a "New Los Angeles" and have Nopons walking around too. Are the nopons like chocobos now?

I hope both FFXV and X sells gangbusters.

I know FFXV will. I just hope there's support for this game.
