Halo 5 beta clips leak (sprint, ADS is *not* COD-style) (more clips and info added)

Asked around, things can change but, assault rifle got dat ADS too, "pretty much" all the weapons. They're going for that e-sports scene very hard.

Welp.

I don't know what the big deal is with ADS. Seems fine in plenty of games. Not sure how it would work in Halo, but I'm not sure if it is the end of the world.

If they are going "hard" for the e-sports scene.... I don't know, I don't think it is really possible. Haven't seen a controller based e-sport actually do well. Even COD & BF are barely registering as e-sports even with mouse and keyboard folks.

If this holds true for release, I can positively say that I'm done with halo. If I wanted to play an arena cod, I would have never bought any halos to begin with. I'm actually pretty upset about this and can't believe they would turn their back on the original community.

I want to play Halo 5 multiplayer for "halo" style multiplayer. I don't want a reskin of COD. Sure, I love fast paced FPS games but there is something very attractive about the slower, strategical, methodical nature of classic halo gameplay. I wonder if they are going to axe the shield too....

Why are Halo fans so crazy about ADS/sprinting?

All FPS have this now - Halo is stuck in the late 1990s/early 2000s.
Because why would other FPS players play Halo instead of whatever they are already playing?

This type of thing never, ever works. If you try to suit your game to the CoD crowd they'll just play fucking CoD. All this achieves is driving fans away while people that don't give a shit play the game for 3 months and go back to their comfort zone.

Not having ADS slowdown is what makes Halo halo.
Take that away and you have a modded version of CoD

That is the entire point. If we want to play ADS styled shooter there's like dozens of options. Halo was the last AAA shooter of its kind.

Don't understand the issue. Can't you just not use ADS and sprinting and it would be just like the Halo you've played all these years? How does having more options hurt it?

I believe you, but if the Halo community speaks out loudly against these changes in the form of, "I have no interests in purchasing a Halo game with these types of changes", 343 will be forced by MS to change. It's not about art, design or gameplay style; it's about money and they can't afford to hurt the Halo IP in the eyes of its target demographic (which is the group that buys season passes, DLC, etc.).

Best thing to do is join/play the beta and make your voices heard that way. Trust me, pre-order numbers, or lack thereof, get a company's attention.

I think the only way it might work is if they make hip-fire viable as in Destiny. Otherwise...eh..

What made more more sad is that, while MC is still playable, Locke really is the primary character. Goddamnit.

What this shit is going on???

Also hip fire is hardly viable in Destiny. At least there is no accuracy loss in H5.

I KNEW IT!!!! I knew this would happen. I predicted ADS would eventually come to Halo and look what happened.

Why oh why do publishers KEEP pressing the COD agenda?????

Does MSFT really honestly think they're going to overtake COD sales by being a COD clone??

This is not Halo folks.

Wow. Pretty upsetting. As a casual fan of COD, I was hoping Halo would remain distinct as far as gameplay goes. Guess I should have seen this coming after Halo 4.

Well, that's just infuriating if true. The e-sports comment is strange too considering that was built on Counterstrike, Quake and Unreal Tournament but whatever, I'm done.

Aiming down sites is how one properly uses a gun. That's not a COD thing. I don't get why people want the gunplay in Halo stuck in 1997.

in a game that

-prioritizes movement (not to the degree of quake or UT but enough for it to matter)
-prioritizes accuracy while moving and jumping
-prioritizes a visually uncluttered HUD
-in fiction, its characters have smart uplinks to their scopes and don't need to physically aim down their sights.

it makes no sense. literally the only reason for ADS is to appeal to the mainstream market, which Halo is never going to win.

Oh, was MCC mostly external? :/

Did not know that. Well, they can clearly see what made Halo popular from the remasters.

Yeah, I found out a while ago. Not sure which companies are working on the games exactly, but it's 2 different ones at least. One of them are the guys that did the terrific 360 Halo 1 remake, Saber Interactive. But I can't remember who the other company was.

Quoting the info from the 343 redeemed thread:

Hm...yeah.

"343 Industries (user interface, online infrastructure, etc.), Saber Interactive (Halo 2 Anniversary campaign), and Certain Affinity (multiplayer)"

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/06...collection-halo-5-beta-announced-for-xbox-one

With Ruffian doing 3 and 4

All i see is half the people in this thread in an uproar,

and the other half have no clue what the uproar is about (or even what ADS is).

Lets make our decision after we play the beta ourselves. The beta will be our only chance to complain. However 343 has been making the game like a dictator. They are not listening to our feedback. It's like they think Halo 4 was a fluke or something. Going to be sad to watch Halo die.

I actually don't really care for Halo that much.

It's just a shame that games are losing their identities in an attempt to capture a disinterested market.

Rather than wanting to make the best Halo game they can, it seems 343 are attempting to create the best CoD competitor.
