Final Fantasy XIII-2 on Steam - Dec 11 (1080p/60fps, dual language, includes DLC)

Yep, it's dual audio.

Yes. The downside to that is that they do not do it in a way that lets you choose which you want - you have to download both. This leads to a very large install size

Excellent. Will buy and get that 1080p mod.

I love when my massive game collection that I have no humanly possible way of completing in a timely manner forces me to wait long enough to play superior versions of games I already own.

Except for the whole buying them twice thing...

Considering it's such a Steam oriented release, you'd think they'd make use of the optional DLC download feature it has.

Cool, my crappy laptop ran XIII just enough for me to get 30FPS, so performance issues were not a problem for me.

I'll get this one too, I'm curious how they did the open world in this game, and how the side content is.

I would certainly consider XIII-2 an all time RPG classic.
- It's my favorite entry of the trilogy
- I absolutely love time traveling
- The plot is entertaining
- The characters are great, especially Noel, Caius (best villain since Sephiroth) and Yeul
- Battle system is top notch despite the relative easiness of most battles
(only Caius battles were challenging for me, as I didn't grind at all)
- and finally: DAT OST

Exactly this. It is quite possibly my favourite RPG of all time,

Not going that far to call it a classic, but if they took out all the FFXIII characters and made it a side game about Noel + another new character it would have been one of my favorite Final Fantasy games.

Hard-mode, all the DLCs or a decent port would make me buy it. If none of those 3 are in, I'll pass. Didn't like XIII-2 at all, I'll just stick with XIII and Lightning Returns.

Now that everything is real time, there should be no issue with 30fps cut-scenes or higher resolutions, or size in general.

Unfortunately, that doesn't do anything about the game itself, but technically speaking it should be ok.

Even DLC isn't necessary. Squeenix could just make language-specific depots so that users can select what they want in the properties tab, with the default language being determined by the language Steam is set to, which is what literally everybody else does.

This is the one I really wanna play as it looked like it was the best one and what the first should have been more of.

I'm definitely gonna wait and see what's what this time.

Now Enhanced for Windows PC
Including a range of the downloadable content from the original console, plus the choice for either English or Japanese voiceovers, 60 frames-per-second graphics and customizeable rendering resolution (720p, 1080p, and more).

So that's something at least.

Now enhanced for Windows PC, FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 is created with the aim of surpassing the quality of its predecessor in every way, featuring new gameplay systems and cutting-edge visuals and audio. In this game the player has the freedom to choose from a range of possibilities and paths; where their choices affect not only the immediate environment, but even shape time and space!
It is no longer about facing destiny. Create a new future and change the world!

This is all very promising for LR, which is really the only one I want a good PC port of, since I already finished XIII and XIII-2 on PS3.

Enjoyed this on the PS3 more than the first game though the story is a bit weaker - the music and the gameplay was far more superior (aside from the fact that they dumbed down accessories D:).

I sure wouldn't label FFXIII-2 as a "classic" but whatever.
Regardless going to hold off this time unless I can buy it in the ball park of 13.00

Pretty fast release dates for these games, it seems.

We might even get Lightning Returns on PC before it turns a year old on consoles.

It's my least favourite of the 3, but i will still buy it. (in fact i already did just now).

Hope it won't be too long for LR, because this is the one that i look most forward to, since it needs the better performance of PC so much. Sadly i don't think it will get better Textures...

It accommodates dual audio setups? Doesn't the language tab typically change the entirety of a game's language, UI included?

Well, they did say all 3 games would be available before Spring... but yeah, wasn't expecting XIII-2 before 2015 to be honest. So unless LR takes longer than the previous two games, trilogy should be available by January's end/February.

Anyway, thanks for PR / OP edit! Looks like it all came out when I was away.

I'm not as bothered by shitty ports as most people on GAF but I'm really glad to hear they're planning on fixing the first one's resolution issues.

I'm not sure if I'll pre-order this one, though. I still haven't had the time to really touch FFXIII and between Valkyria Chronicles now and Persona Q next month, I'm not sure I could squeeze another 40+ hours RPG in there, let alone two.

I still can't believe there are people who like LR. Then again, there are people in the world with scat fetishes and stuff so I guess I kinda get it.

In the release notes it says that FFXIII will be getting an official rendering resolution update in December due to fan feedback. It's also assumed 60 FPS support will be added at this time. Nice!

Oh forgot to mention, the inclusion of DLC is great too cause I wanted to get the DLC but opted out on the PS3 - glad I'll be getting the chance now to experience it!

Was really interested in your opinion, glad you share it.

But to still answer your "question" LR is not a good game, XIII-2 is just worse.
However LR will just benefit the most of all 3 games from being on PC.

Sweet, pre-ordered. Don't care if it turns out bad again, just never got to finish this one before I got rid of my 360.
Would love to just play it again.
