Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2, sequel to 13+ million game, is coming, has co-op

I want a pure single player game not diluted by co-op contrivances.

Are you a fan of Dark Souls or Demon Souls?

Also, I doubt the co-op will influence the overall design too much. I really do think you will build up a posse and empire in Red Dead 3, with or without other real people.

Redemption was arguably my favorite game from last gen. I am all fucking in. Won't see it until 2017 I bet..

Take GTAVs multiple protagonists system, split it up when playing co-op (everyone gets one protag), have normal switching when offline. Adjust mission difficulty and encounters when playing co-op and offline to ensure that everything is doable both ways.

Wouldn't make a lick of sense given the context and narrative in Red Dead Redemption. The old western lifestyle started to die out quickly, technology and government coming in, not to mention Bonnie moved out of that area and either sold the ranch or put someone else in charge of it.

If a character is to return, I'd nominate Dutch when he was a child, being mentored by the main character in Red Dead 3.

True. I think they should have a brand new character. Marshton's story is just too perfect as it. It deserves it's rest.

I wonder if the new one will take place earlier or later in history, will be interesting to find out.

Red Dead Revenge:
the story of Jack Marston hunting down all people involved in killing his dad.

Edit: I suppose that's technically a spoiler but the game has been out for a long time so...

Sort of off topic but why do people say it's RDR2? Technically, this would be the 3rd Red Deas game, with Revolver being the first.

Anyways, excited to see what they're able to do with a game focused on the current gen consoles with no PS360 versions.

Most people don't know revolver exists, it's part of why I think Rockstar will view Redemption as a reboot rather than a sequel and go with Red Dead Redemption 2 rather than R_____

Wasn't there some kind of rumor about the original dev team actually being laid off because Rcosktar didn't expect the game to break even due to it having a long and troubled development?

Definitely can't wait to see the sequel. RDR was a real masterpiece.

Yea but the world it resided in didn't. GTA still get's made every couple years regardless of story arc's and characters.

It will be in a new area, new time period, new characters.

Red Dead has become a product line like GTA, it's either that or another Noire game. It wouldn't make sense for them to send all those man ours becoming acquainted to PS4/XB architecture with their engine, and not use that data for another Open world game. And seeing how GTA V benefited the work from Red Dead, in mainly the desert locations, I fail to see how their work on GTA V can't benefit their current project.

If Red Dead 3 has Max Payne 3 combat and slo mo

R* by some miracle fucked up the shooting in GTAV, they're not particularly good at learning their own lessons...

Rock parity

Tumbleweed parity.

I'm really excited for this though. I really need to finish the first one, but man. Seeing what they did with a last gen game and remastering it, I can only imagine what they can accomplish in a fully current-gen title.

I doubt the info nuggets about it entering production as GTA V ended. Development time would have to be around four or five years, meaning we would see Red Dead 3 in 2017 at the earliest. GTA VI would be even farther away, like 2018 or 2019. Rockstar has been consistent with releasing games and content every year, I don't see them taking years off in regards to releasing new games and content. Unless Bully 2 and Agent are actually real, and if that's the case, you insiders should've asked about that stuff.

lol

I'm not doing that to myself anymore. I'm expecting the bare minimum improvement. That way, if they manage to do worse (like somehow taking a step back from RDR in GTAV ?_?) I won't be as disappointed.

I'll never stop believing in Max Payne 3's combat living on, it is my faith, it is my religion.

I don't understand. Rockstar San Diego had not much to do with GTA V. So people believe than SD haven't been working on RD3 for years?

There is more than one Rockstar dev.

I remember the torturous wait for Redemption after seeing the first screens emerge, it's going to be hell with this one. Can't fucking wait.

This better be on the fucking PC day 1. And Co-op sounds amazing. Hope it's 4 player co-op and not just 2.

At this point I'll be surprised if it isn't on PC. The market for PC games is getting bigger and bigger. Now if it will be there on Day 1 this is Rockstar so.......

No way this is happening.

Why wouldn't it happen? Soooooo many people would buy it on the PC. The fact they would ignore such a large player base just to have it on the consoles, when they even admitted that with the original iteration of 5 was so limited on what they could do, would be almost along the lines of spite.

Yup. and I don't think all studios were working on GTA V 100%. Maybe at a certain point or points, but halting development on other properties 24/7? Doesn't make sense business wise, Take Two depends on Rockstar to bring in money every year or every other year.

So Rockstar will have nothing to release in 2015 or 2016? Doubt that. Maybe the insider meant the studio THEY'RE at starting working on RD3, while other studios have already been working on it.

Bit cynical about co-op emphasis, hope it doesn't shift their focus away from their great storytelling. Don't think it would have been an improvement in Redeption.

Also, I think the 3rd word in the title needs 3 syllables to sound right but I haven't though of a good one yet.

You should trust them in general. If the sources are lieing they will be found out.

Personally when I decide to post something I play it safe and instantly message a mod with proof of what I'm saying. I value my account and this community and the last thing I want to do is spread confusion or mis information. I vett pretty much every "leak" I post just to be up front and honest.

Other insiders may be different however. I can't speak on their behalf.
Will start paying attention to your leaked infos then :D
