Street Fighter 5 for PS4 & PC teaser trailer

Except they don't

Chun looks a lot more like MVC3 Chun than SF4

why don't you compare Ryu? the models are clearly based off IV; look at his musculuature. both characters are slightly slimmer but it definitely registers way too much like IV. the differences aren't palpable at all, which makes this a visually disappointing first showing. it's not much to go by since its a tiny little teaser so I'm not gonna worry too much, but right now I'm underwhelmed.

Microsoft has zero control over PC gaming, which is why they tried to bury it with the Xbox.

Whose fault is that? They had plenty of chance to establish a Steam like ecosystem on it and they blew that chance. They could have bundled it with W7 and then paid a fine to the EU like they always do.

Great news to wake up to!
Console exclusivity is a bit weird but not at all unexpected perhaps. Capcom needs money, Ono said they would be more harsh about greenlighting projects, we'll have to hear the whole story before passing judgment. Maybe it is exclusive only in Japan?

Xbox One has KI and this is obviously a response to that success.

Not actually that important
Super bummed that it looks like that again.
Could've at least gone with the original SFIV's cgi teaser ink style :/

Also, SSFV for Xbox One, it's a lock.

Everybody knows this whole shebang is about dem console wars. I don't understand why Pc gamers always want in on the conversation.

Maybe cause WE like to play our games on our PCs and maybe there's more of us than you?..... mauahahaaaaaaaa

And this is like the one sure-fire hit without a moneyhat outside of MonHun.

This is the one Capcom game that shouldn't be exclusive I think.

That's not XBO port begging or anything, I'm just really pretty surprised.

Pay. This is capcom through and through now. I'm surprised that people are surprised.

I don't know if there are any real practical advantages to being platform exclusive, more likely it is just a few nice black numbers in their accounts each year.

But where are the multiple, coincidentally timed threads and news articles from Eurogamer etc discussing the inethical nature of exclusivity deals?

This was a leaked trailer that happened overnight and the west coast isn't even up yet? Also Tomb Raider 2 was originally announced for both consoles then taken away.

You had a lot more pissed off people in the Tomb Raider thread because the lack of even a PC port. Not really a comparable situation.

Not even that, the game was originally announced for more platforms and then retconned. People are really reaching here trying to create a narrative.

Maybe you are right. I thought SF4 did pretty good? I know I own three different versions of it and only two Dark Souls. Anyways, glad to see this get announced one way or the other.
Like someone posted ITT each game sold about 1 million and something units (with the exception of the first one which more) which isn't bad but it doesn't set the world on fire. The fighting game community is very dedicated and a move like this will definitely make the PS4 the console to own if you want to be a part of the community. The 3 Souls games probably surpassed the sales of all SFIV games (on consoles). It sure is a pleasant surprise a new SF game is getting made already, I just hope it's more like III than IV :)

love on your sleeve
I guess this explains the Hadouken Cabs video from last November. I wonder if they've been sitting on this announcement since back then.

Shitty deal for Xbone fighting fans but it's nice to wake up and see SFV.

I own both consoles so exclusives are alright with me. .still never been a big fan of fighting games. Hell, I might get the DBZ game rather than this

Capcom is DNA timed exclusive but I'm curious if there's any proven record of Street Fighter preforming strongly so early in a generation. Will the fanbase follow given the stubborn lifespan of the ten year plan consoles? Or will they keep playing 4 and Mahvel like Melee purists?

Either way no fighting game like this should solely be exclusive because the characters, technicalities and fighting game community in general should never be splinted by platform. Killer Instinct is a different story but Street Fighter has a long history of appearances from the PC-Engine to the Game boy Advanced and a break from this tradition of liberal platform spreads would simply be a terrible loss for Xbox gamers looking for the Capcom feeling on Xbox.

Both of these were business decisions. No dev/publisher is going to pass up a free truck of cash. Both Capcom and SE have claimed "they don't have the money" to develop one of their biggest franchises on their own.

This is either stupid for both, or stupid for neither.

You're now drawing the conversation to another lane, just so you can make your pillow fist count for something.

I'll call you on the "they don't have the money" though, I wanna see that receipt where SE states so before the announcement.

Maybe cause WE like to play our games on our PCs and maybe there's more of us then you?..... mauahahaaaaaaaa

I only own a PC...

The PC versions of the SF4 games were so good, glad this is coming to PC right off the bat.

... although I'm hesitant to buy SF5 right off the bat if they're going to milk it for Super and Ultra Editions a year or two down the road.

I also think its hilarious that Capcom, one of the companies that have been in some serious financial woes, decide to cut off part of their potential target market by making it an exclusive... Sony must have hooked them up with some serious money.

Regardless if youre a PS4,Xbone, or PC guy.. this type of shit needs to end quickly. If we start accepting this shit, its going to happen ALOT more on both ends.

We do NOT an entire generations library to be separated depending on what company gave the developer the most money.

Nah you can't tell me with a straight face that if SF5 was XB1 exclusive with PC this thread would be the same.

I mean I understand PC is the most popular console and thus the most popular console here, but lets not get crazy now.

It is stupid for both, and plenty of people have been saying that. There is a difference between a smaller dev like Insomniac or FROM focusing on a platform exclusive for what is a new brand, and a company the size of Capcom or Square limiting the reach of an established series.

I wonder if in this case they are going to make PS based arcade units the way Namco did in the 90's. The Japanese game market being so strange now probably has something to do with this. You cannot sell a fighting game for $60 on a phone.

Definitely, especially since GabeN was shopping the idea at Microsoft back in the late 90's.

Back then Microsoft were under the impression that the living room market was going to undermine their Windows empire. The Xbox was made primarily because of that assumption. They were wrong, and that threat turned out to be the mobile market. Had they known then what they know now the Xbox would have never been made, I'd wager.

How is this happening? I hope there is something that justify this & it's not just a deal.
Monster Hunter 3 and 4, Ace Attorney series, Dead Rising 1 and 3 etc.

They always have been fucking Sony this generation, being them the only ones who never had a Capcom exclusive. So it's justice to give Sony SFV.

People who doesn't want to buy one at least have PC, or may wait until the next SFV iteration that I assume would be multi.

I assume it may be a case like Dead Rising 3: Capcom was going to cancel it or didn't have enough budget to develop it. So in this case Sony came to fund it (like MS on DR3 or Nintendo localizing and marketing MH3 in the west)

As shitty as this might be, if capcom were pushing it around MS/Sony/Nintendo looking for cash, it might as well be sony. MS clearly have no issues buying up exclusivity, so as sad as it may seem, Sony either play the same game or get rolled over

This thread is strange when you put it next to the one about Tomb raider exclusivity.

Yeah this thread is going pretty smoothly. Personally I think this is a waaaaaaay bigger deal than Tomb Raider exclusivity, for better or worse. I shudder to think what this thread would look like if this were announced as an Xbox One exclusive. That would be a site to behold.

I'm really to curious to learn more about the details behind this deal and what lead up to it.
