Ratchet and Clank PS4 is a complete reimagining, coming 2015, not Q1.

Playstation Experience happened over the weekend, and many gamers were left wondering, "Where is the new Ratchet and Clank?" There are still a lot of misconceptions about the game, and while Insomniac Games may not have had any time on the material stage, they've taken to Twitter's virtual one to offer some tidbits of information regarding the upcoming title.

One fan tweeted at the developer, asking Insomniac if they could make a new Ratchet and Clank - not a remake - for the Playstation 4. Insomniac quickly informed the fan that the new Ratchet and Clank is a complete reimagining:

"It's a complete re-imagining. NOT a remake."

Another person asked why Insomniac wasn't going to release the game in Q1 of 2015. Apparently, the user thought that Insomniac had made a statement declaring that the game would be out in early 2015. Here's what they had to say:

Cooooooooool. Much more appealing than a remake. Hopefully it's PS4 only so that it won't be held back.

That's cool, I'm excited to see it freshened up a bit. I love R&C but a straight remake of the first isn't as exciting to me as a slightly new take. Hopefully they keep the charm and characters true to their past.

Because R&C is currently the best platforming series not on Nintendo consoles.

Also, it is set to launch with the movie which is spring, so it does indeed have a tentative release dat of first half of 2015. It will probably be Q2.

More platformers please, I'm really dying for a new Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooler as well.

God how much did I love those games. I'm not a fan of TPS/FPS on consoles, to me console gaming is all about platformers and JRPG.

Probably think it has a better chance in eventually tapping tin to the Disney/Dreamworks market.

They should have licensed them for use in Wreck-it-Ralph

Insomniac actually likes making ratchet games?

Rather a full blown new entry rather than one giant retcon of the first game to be honest, but I'll certainly play it either way.

Playstation does everything. You want platformers, Wii U is swimming in them.

I'm playing ACIT right now and it's already getting amongst the best 7th gen games I've played. They added so many great things to an already great formula.

They absolutely need to bring back what they added in ACIT. And 60 fps.

I don't remember them saying first quarter, but I do remember hearing first half of the year a lot. But seeing as how we still haven't seen anything, I guess it could be later than that too.

Well, whenever it comes out, that's when I'll get a PS4. Love me some R&C.

That's probably because Naughty Dog doesn't seem too interested in making another. They were going to, but it got cancelled.

I like Jak & Daxter, but Ratchet & Clank was always the better franchise to me. So I can't say I'm too bothered by how things turned out.

Insomniac Games never said early 2015, but Andrew House did say the first half of 2015.

Also, we knew it was a re-imagining from the beginning.

"Ratchet and Clank creator Insomniac Games is heavily involved in the film and we're also working with the studio to re-imagine the original Ratchet & Clank for PS4. The game will feature completely new visuals and gameplay sequences that will rival the best PS4 games on the market. Both the movie and the game will be available in the first half of 2015." (Andrew House, E3 2014 Press Conference)

I don't think Sony has ever been particularly hands-on in dictating what gets made up front. They mostly seem to let the studios decide for themselves, then they decide if it's a project worth funding or not.

IIRC, Insomniac also said we would get a first look in the fall. It's winter now. So I'm guessing they're slightly behind schedule.

Because Insomniac is still willing to do Ratchet & Clanks while Naughty Dog has made it pretty clear that they don't want to return to games like Jak & Daxter, at least not without some huge changes to everything (in which case the resulting game wouldn't necessarily be the Jak & Daxter we know & love).

I'm thinking May/June.

More devs need to release games in the Summer. TLOU dominated Summer 2013 because it had zero competition (and it was a great game).

It seems unlikely that it will come out in the first half since they didn't show it off at PSX and we still haven't seen anything from it. I'd say it'll probably release in Q3.

ND isn't beyond Jak. They've considered it and were even in the conceptual stage of Jak 4 before deciding on TLoU instead. It's just not their focus right now.

I do believe they are making a movie of R&C, something tells me the game will come out around the same time the movie does.
