Hey gaf,
So what game released in 2014 year lived up to your expectations? Which game had the tingling excitement, rabid speculation, and crazed fanbase-following yet still met or surpassed the hype?
I was initially going to say Bayonetta 2, but outside of hardcore gaming press and the 60-80k people who bought it in North America - was the hype really there?
I then jumped to Dragon Age, which is a follow-up to a less-than-loved sequel, and probably determined the future of the franchise. It had a lot riding on it. Then again, I havn't played it yet so I can't really comment - and it not appearing in the recent NPD is worrisome.
For me personally, Super Smash Bros met my level of hype - which I didn't expect it to.
I don't know why, but after the e3 tournament I was under the impression it was 'just another slow Brawl', and the lack of info made me worried it'd be delayed or launch without a lot of content. Not only did I enjoy some of the new modes, but the draw-a-level, netcode, and 8-player modes are incredible and add a lot to the series.
What say you neogaf? What game this year met your hype?
