My nexus 7 wont boot past the Google logo , i can get into the fastboot mode but before i try factory reset it is there any way to get files off of it?

I tried using nexus toolkit , to do anything with fastboot i need to have it unlocked which wipes all data. To do anything with adb i need to have usb debugging enabled which i cant do.

(i wasnt sure what would best thread to post this so i figured i post it here.)

That shouldn't happen. Are you sure those apps' notifications aren't set as priorities?

yes i tried it last night. so today at 9 am, still asleep, my phone vibrated, checked and i got a viber message. GREAT thanks a lot Google for waking me up!

now i found an option in viber and hangouts to turn off any sounds and i left my phone on ringtone but i use priority and block everything. this seems to work BUT whenever i get a message my LED doesnt blink anymore. besides that it seems to be okay now.

but seriously going through all that trouble to get what i got on KitKat with one push of a button is incredible stupid and makes me wanna punsh the guy who had that stupid idea to remove silent mode.

Just realised to put phone straight into silent with vibrate, you only need to tap the bell icon when adjusting the volume.

My Nexus 5 was playing up recently, a few app crashes, the main thing however was a very annoying delay of everything appearing or loading slowly on home screen etc. Erased device and started again so much better now.

had the same issue last week, got all sorts of "can't mount /cache" error lines when I tried to clear cache or format the tablet. Unlocking bootloader also didn't do anything after waiting for an hour.

searched the errors, turned out the flash memory was probably corrupted.

sent it in for RMA, got it back today (with Jellybean...) so I just flashed it with 5.0.1, seems to be working fine again :) lost all data obviously, but I have anything critical backed up anyway

They replaced some "parts" according to the store. I notice the serial number is different in the bootloader but I'm pretty sure it's my own tablet judging by a small chip in the bezel. Guess they replaced the mainboard?

Yup this is happening on my Nexus 5 as well. I got up late today because my damn phone crashed and didn't turn back on so the alarm didn't work. Thankfully it was a Sunday so nothing major. I have also noticed freezing with apps and the recent list can sometimes decide not to work. Honestly Lollipop 5.0 is a steaming turd of an OS I am even thinking of trying to go back to KitKat.

Did you do a factory reset?

My Nexus 7 still hasn't gotten it's 5.0 update. Is this normal? Is there a way to force the OTA update? I'd prefer not to Flash it, but I'm starting to think I'm going to have to. Ugh.

Did you do a factory reset?

Yup reset back to factory settings once the update was done and then spent an age setting it all back up again. That's what is holding me off from flashing back to 4.4.4 the hassle of setting everything up again. I will hang on till 5.0.1 hits, maybe that will improve things. However right now I can't rely on my phone anymore and have had to dig out my old arse alarm clock.

I have a Nexus 7 (2012) and a Nexus 7 (2013) neither have received the OTA update for 5.0 which is a bit of a joke when you consider how long 5.0 has been out now and people are STILL waiting for it to hit their devices. Ordinarily I would be kicking a stink up about it myself but I will be passing on updating my Nexus 7's to 5.0 considering how much it has screwed my Nexus 5.

There are ways to "force" an OTA update to your Nexus 7 it involves clearing the cache for Google Frameworks Service. However it is highly recommended YOU DO NOT DO THIS. It can cause account problems all over the place. The only other way is to flash the new OS to your tablet using a computer.

I used to love the Nexus program but I think when it comes time to put my Nexus 5 to bed I will be going with something different especially if future OS updates are as crap as this.

Yeah, my Nexus 7 hasn't received the OTA too :(

Btw, I'm affected by the memory leak bug in my Nexus 5, I have to reboot my phone every 48 hours max, fucking sucks.

I've seemingly had to reset my phone at least once a day. I think I counted three times in one day. I like it, overall, but it is kind of messy.

I'm fairly clueless with rooting/ROM's and all that jazz, but ever since I flashed 5.0 on my non GPE HTC One M8, the notifications have been a bit iffy. For stuff like Facebook, Twitter, snapchat etc. I have to open the app to see if I have any notifications, or sometimes I'll get all the notifications in 5 seconds that I should've had hours ago. Anyone else had this sorta problem?

Fellas, question- is the Nexus 4 still viable for web browsing, modern apps, etc.? Very little gaming if that. Considering buying a used one from a friend.

Mine just died and I switched to a 1st gen Moto G. I love the G but my Nexus did in fact seem snappier. I never had ANY issues with speed or snappiness with the Nexus 4. It's still totally viable. If it runs as intended and is a fair price you WON'T be disappointing.

I think the difference in the performance between the Nexus 4 and Moto G 1st gen is down to the RAM. The N4, if memory serves, has 2Gb whereas the G has 1Gb. Like sometimes it takes a sec for an app to pop up and sometimes it takes a sec for the home screen icons to load out of an app. Nonetheless, I like my G.

It seems first generation Nexus 7 will not get an update :(

I'm still waiting for Moto G to get updated.

My ol' skool Nexus 7 is kind of slow enough in KitKat, so maybe I'm good with that.

As was mentioned my new 1st gen Moto G seems a bit slow with the 1Gb RAM, do you guys think Lolipop would be a good idea? I'm running the Boost Mobile version, anyone heard when the hell Lolli is supposed to drop for that, if at all?

Eh ? I thought Google and Asus had already confirmed both the the 2012 and 2013 model of the Nexus will get Lollipop. Has this changed ? I know the roll out is slow but since when hasn't Google OTA's been a complete and utter fuck around ?

My wife already got the update to Lollipop on her 2012 N7. I received 5.0.1 on my 2013 N7 a week ago.

Edit: We also have two Nexus 4s that have both received 5.0 but not 5.0.1

DietRob

i've been begging for over 5 years.
Reading through the last few pages of this thread seems like it's a blessing in disguise that the 2013 Moto X still doesn't have the update. Hopefully things are patched up before Sprint sends it OTA.

Flashed 5.0.1 to my N5 and rooted it. Fixed the reboot I was experiencing when trying to rec videos. Was a weird bug. Not sure if it was an OS thing or if it was something else, all I know is I'm happy now.

Love my N5, and with L it's like an all-new phone.

.

This for me as well. Can't take it. Chrome, Firefox crashing. All happening more frequently, can't even browse GAF on my phone :(

Flashed the 5.0.1 Terminus ROM. I think it's helping my battery drain issues (where it would go from any percentage to 0 immediately) with 5.0 stock, but I still got a few random shutdowns. Uninstalling Facebook seems to help that, though.

Eh, you've got a Nexus, flash that shit.

Speaking of shit, the Nexus 7 (2012) really runs like shit. It's not totally because of Lollipop, but LagFix (FSTrim) not working on Lollipop is a killer. It was the only thing that kept mine usable on KitKat.

Came here exactly to say this. My phone is getting slower day after day, crashing apps all the time, and refreshing everything many times I get to the home screen. And right now, I was erasing some photos and it completely froze my phone, I had to force it to shut down.

Nexus 5 by the way.

This update is a huge garbage. My girlfriend's phone is suffering the exact same problems, and its also a Nexus 5.

Hopefully the next update will fix some of that instability. I should not have installed that shit. Its incredible how these companies are just releasing broken stuff everywhere nowadays.

It's so weird how I've had none of those issues. Really, everything has been super smooth for me.

Factory reset.

Pretty much, yeah. I did a clean flash.

Too early to tell much, but after spending my lunch hour poking at my phone, but I swear it's a bit snappier and the animations seem quicker on the 5.0.1 version. It's probably placebo, but I don't know for sure.

Im not in the mood to factory reset! :(
But will give it a thought.

Got the 5.0.1 update yesterday, I wait to see how it goes.

Will wait for the inevitable Lollybean - where things are actually working, streamlined, and bug free. Oh and somehow Xposed Module will work.

Got the 5.0.1 update on my never rooted N5. Keep getting an error about 20% of the way through the install. Debating a factory reset as it's been laggy as fuck since 5.0 anyway.

Seems like maybe a bit much changed under the hood to ensure a smooth update from 4.4 to 5.0. Like I've said, I did a clean flash, leaving no remnants of KK or any old app data on the phone, and my experience has been very smooth. No problems updating to 5.0.1 either.

Updated to 5.0.1 on my N5 yesterday, everything has been smooth sailing. My issue with getting kicked off of work WiFi every 5-6 minutes is even gone.
