STEAM | December 2014 - Read OP for winter sale questions

I have an odd question. Is there a way to see which of my friends have an off-market game on their wishlist without going and looking at their wishlists individually. Normally with a game that's still on the market, you can see that info on the right side of the store page, but off-market games don't have a store page, so I can't do that. It's probably not possible, but I thought I'd ask.

Someone explain this to me.

The newly shown stuff was way better than that.
Yeah, it looks a lot better. Though, still off. I know one can't help it with the change in the artist, but it still bothers me. Then again who am I to complain, I played like five minutes of the game and then continued to play League of Legends. Fuck.

I prefer the Ikagua version
How do you even remember this? D,:

Grumpy Old Jojo never fails to crack me up. His constant bickering in Japan was super fun.

Auction bids are rising, the price of gems is declining, will the decline continue?
If we only knew definitely, we would be rich.

My PC crashed while playing the Talos Principle, I had no crash in a long long time, kinda scary, well not kinda, really scary!

edited: maybe I should take a hint, that I have some games to finish before starting a new one? Even scarier thought

edit2: that WEE pic is good (><)

My usual buddy ain't online.

If anyone can be so nice to sell me a couple thousand gems, that be cool
Just PM me on steam or here on gaf.

Found some games on my wishlist which are going - presumably - at lower prices than even sale.

Good evening Steamgaf! (or morning/afternoon, wherever you are)
I'm trying to post a giveaway on every night of Hanukkah to wish everyone on Steamgaf happy holiday's. There's a small twist and an extra rule to whoever wins, though.
Please send me the name of your favorite game available for under ten bucks on Steam. Or whatever you want to see given away on the next day. If it stay's under ten bucks, that is. Something that might get especially interesting during the coming Winterseal. Turfster won yesterday's giveaway and chose Thief II. So here it is.
I hope this different kind of giveaway get's apreciated.
Even if it doesn't; whoever you are, wherever you're reading this: happy holiday's! :)
Interesting method.
Such a shame I missed thief2 though. One of the few oldies I have on my wl.
Let's see what gets chosen next.

I was supposed to have a job today, guess that isn't happening...
:( Sorry man.

I've realized I have no clue who a lot of my friends list is anymore. A grand majority of you have become +1s, which isn't something you should be.
If you suddenly notice we're no longer friends on steam and would like to remedy that, feel free to add me back. This time I will try to keep up with aliases and the like.
Oh man. I know that. I have over 300 friends, most of which I never even talked to.

Sometimes I want to clear out but I think folks will think I have a grudge or sth.

The better question is, who is making the second stage of this thread, since MrOrange said someone else needs to?

He abandoned us during the last sale, has said he should quit gaming and be a big boy, and we want to give him that power?!?!

Plus, I heard from a source that he's a uPlay fanboy!

also on the costume quest thing

isn't that the custom for doublefine that all their games tank?

DF rely too much on their games being charming. In terms of mechanics and story they are average at best. I enjoy a DF game occasionally, but they aren't anything I'm going to run out and buy day one.

Ugh, people are swooping in and literally doubling the bids on some of these games now. I wish it showed previous wins so people would know there's no need to overpay so much.

Speaking of DoubleFine games, Hack n Slash now has cards. Personally I've greatly enjoyed every DF game I've ever played, they just always seem more like $3-$5 budget games than $15 budget games. Though I guess on a console $15 is about as low as budget games get.

i liked costume quest 1 but it felt too grindy and too samey and the sequel doesn't seem like it addressed that whatsoever

like, you don't have to do something completely different for a sequel but the gameplay in costume quest is so simple and it's not like it's got a deep lore or complex quest system that would make an iterative sequel too outstanding

Hmm, I'll probably get CQ2 when it's super cheap.

I wish Psychonauts 2 would hurry up and happen already, I know Double Fine doesn't have the best rep when it comes to money handling, but I really want that game. It probably could do really well in this day and age too.

The PC version of Sportsfriends will not have Johann Sebastian Joust, but Mac and Linux will. here's why:

pparently there's some sort of compatibility issue between the Move controllers and Windows. According to a recent Kickstarter update, developer Die Gute Fabrik explained "Windows is engineered in a way that makes it infeasible for us to get pairing working robustly. We looked for experts to help us, and even got in touch with an engineer at Microsoft, who told us 'this is NOT possible in any way shape or form.' Yeah, we weren't too thrilled either."

"This means that, despite all our research, the Windows version of Sportsfriends will not support JS Joust," the developer lamented. "However, anyone who buys Sportsfriends is also entitled to the Mac and Linux versions of the game. We're also still looking into creating a custom Linux 'JS Joust distro' that you can boot into from your Windows machine by USB stick."

The studio added that it's still looking to open source JS Joust. "The game was built on top of open source projects, and we feel some responsibility to give back to the community. After we release this week and handle any support issues, Jonathan [Whiting, programmer] is going to continue his work preparing the source."

i feel like a big problem for doublefine is that they're all over the place in terms of game genres which doesn't let them reuse a whole bunch

this wouldn't be problematic if they weren't in a 50 people san francisco office which sounds like a huge overhead cost on top of actually making almost all their games with full vo, very distinct and expensive artstyles, etc. but since they do, adding the layer of "new genre" on top of it is total overkill. they've done puzzle games, turn based rpgs, x-com-likes, management sims, third person shooters, adventure games, it's crazy

like, vlambeer can afford to make every game completely different because it's like two guys making simple unexpensive things with pixelart, no vo, etc.
