Sarah Paulson is playing the female lead in American Crime Story, which makes me wonder if she's going to be in AHS S5...?

I would love to see an entirely new cast next year.

I'm going to grind my way through the rest of this season, then I'm done with the entire series for good. I really enjoyed the first two seasons. The last two have been chores, though.

I want to know where it's going, and what will happen, but I don't have a lot of interest in watching any more of Freak Show.

I will, though.

Then, I need to watch Asylum (more than 2 episodes at a friend's) and maybe Coven, though it looks far too weird.

Ryan Murphy does True Detective, sort of yeah. The first season centers around the OJ Simpson case and I think the plan is for all future seasons to focus on a real life crime story.

never heard of this, sounds interesting.

I only watched the first ep of this season's AHS, was about to ask how its been, I guess not very goo judging from this page >_>

I can't muster up any desire to watch new episodes in a timely fashion, so I just now only watched last week's episode. I'm surprised they killed off Kathy Bates and Francis Conroy before they even did anything of note. What a waste of their talents. I mean, you have fucking Kathy Bates in your cast and that is the character you build around her? What? Ditto Francis Conroy.

At least Dandy is getting crazier by the minute - he's the only consistently entertaining thing about the season. I hope he turns into a cannibal by the end.

It's more consistent but the characters aren't nearly as entertaining. So far I prefer Coven.

I think that's a good way of putting it. It's far more consistent than Coven was, but unfortunately that consistency is of the bland and boring variety. Coven had lower lows but also far higher highs.

I'm bored shitless by him. The story was supposed to be about the freaks, he's nothing but a spoiled, bratty psychopath. I get so sick of the constant closeups of his stupid mug, it's tiresome. We get it, he's nuts and wants to kill people. Duly noted writers and directors. Meanwhile, the freak aspect of the show is listless and lifeless as the characters meander around aimless with little to do. Any kind of build up to a serious confrontation gets tossed out the window because they will quickly kill off one of participants. The season is painful.

It's annoying how this season is probably the most consistent and well put together of AHS with what should be a great setting, yet they've managed to waste a lot of the cast and characters

That being said I really liked this episode. Progression and movement in all story lines for all characters.
both me and my housemate are attracted to dandy and feel wrong about it

I mean, he's not captivating or anything, but, at least for me, he's the one of the few entertaining things about this season. I also think Dandy qualifies as a "freak" - he is the psychopathic product of inbreeding and a severely sheltered upbringing.

Agreed.

Agreed. Do people like Dandy because they think he's a good character, or because they want to fuck him? The fangirls on Facebook are so obnoxious. Almost as obnoxious as Jessica Lange's fake German accent. This season has been a trainwreck from start to finish. The show went from being a legitimate "horror story" to "let's see how outrageous we can go just for the shock value." I almost wanted to stop watching after
Dell's suicide attempt.

That's been the show since day 1 though.

Murder House and Asylum were nothing like this at all. It started getting really campy halfway through Coven.

Evelyn Figueroa dandy's ass twice in two episodes it is christmas .

I guess this is the demographic they're trying to pander to now.

I'm several episodes behind. I think the last one I watched was Ep. 4.

Should I even bother catching up? Has it remained as painfully boring as the first four eps were?

lol

I marathoned this show to catch up to season 4 and i havn't seen anything past episode 5. This season is so weak.

I still haven't watched Wednesday's episode, though I PVRed it. I was going to this morning, but decided I'd better get some sleep instead.

This season is a solid C- or D+ so far. Actually here, a C- is 61% or so, though, so maybe a D. It passes, but it's wholly mediocre and outright boring.

I feel like they have pulled back a lot this season, but I'm not sure why.

They had a lot of chances to go over-the-top and deliver something new, but then they completely veered to a different direction without anything resolute.

The rich, spoiled brat is the biggest freak of all. It's so blatantly obvious that I don't know how that's lost on you?
ummm..."who's the real freak?"

This episode rubs me the wrong way. Elsa calling Pepper her pet and a monster, Pepper's sister calling Pepper a dimwit while I was wondering the whole time what the hell is wrong with her. Her husband is straight cold with that line "Some women shouldn't just have children", then plotting to put her sister away forever in an asylum and killing her baby.

I also hope that the carnival doesn't get saved. Horror stories are supposed to have bad endings.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
Damn, Pepper's sister husband is straight up a cold murderer. Also Sister Euance taking her to New Orleans(?)/Briarcliff as a special project.

This was one of the better episodes in a long time. I loved Peppar's entire story. Although im a sucker for those kind of plots. I thought the actress did an amazing job and everything to do with that plot was good. The side plots weren't nearly as interesting.

Thought it was a little contrived
especially with bribing of the police officer
just so weak and poorly done. This series has really suffered as there was no goal for it to aim for, and this latest twist is just an additional pointless meander to whatever it's going to achieve.

Will watch to completion, but season 2 was the peak.

As someone who is currently watching season 2 and loving it, is season 3 worth it?

Fuck no. It starts of relatively promising, and you give the writers the benefit of the doubt coming off season 2, but around halfway through season 3 it becomes unbearable to watch. The plot and character development is atrocious. I felt offended watching it until the end.

And fuck Fleetwood Mac. My God.

Season 4 starts off alright. Then the most interesting character disappears early on, and it's just boring. The writers on this show have no clue.
