Orban from Hungary should not have been invited like Le Pen, freedom of press basically does not exist in that country.

Actually, was it cleared if the FN wasn't invited, or if the FN didn't agree to the terms under which they were invited?

And why is the malian (?) president directly on the right of Hollande?

Nor Turkey, nor Russia nor a bunch of countries there. That's not the point though. Let them at least see how popular these ideas are.

Just caught a few minutes of the Fox News coverage on this event before turning back to more sane coverage. Apparently sharia law, muslamic ray guns and lack of Muircan Dream means that France is doomed. Sorry French Gaf.

Sharia Law in France ? Where ? Wtf ... lol

I know some lunatics started a sharia Police in Germany but we never had such a thing in France. Even the veil in prohibited in public schools. How is that sharia compliant ? Fox news never cease to amaze me lmao

Normally I don't find myself saying things like this

But after witnessing for myself, in the span of 48 hours, news on three different horrific terror attacks cross my feed

And witnessing how only the one that involved white people in the West getting killed gained any traction whatsoever

I'm kind of angry

And think that these people are marching in the wrong place

I wont dive in this now, its not the place or time

But yeah, i feel the same way

What's with the "it wasn't that bad of a terror attack"-posts? Be glad that the world comes together and shows strength and unity against savage attacks no matter what caused it.

don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that this march is happening. I just wish it would happen more often.

It's Fox News. It's literally the missing link between noise and sound. Don't pay it any heed. We all ignore it.

This shit happens everywhere. And it took an attack on some central European city to make the news media sit up and take notice. Do you have any idea how infuriating that is?

What is this march even supposed to do? They're not marching on anything. Just show terrorists that people don't like them?

Please resume what you said you would normally do and just stop. This is a positive and historical moment.

FN was invited like everyone else at the Presidential palace Friday to discuss participation in the rally. French Prime Minister also said "Everyone who feels affected by these events can attend the march". The FN attended the Friday meeting but refused to participate in today's rally. Le Pen is marching in an FN town in the province rather than Paris.

Maybe these world leaders should get their asses over to Nigeria and march where a young girl was strapped to a suicide bomb and sent into a marketplace

Oh but that might involve going somewhere actually dangerous and its so much easier to be mad about some Europeans getting blown up

No-one seems to give a flying fuck. That's the most frustrating part of this whole thing. Watching the continued reports come in around the world of other instances of terrorism and watching how the only one that seems to get any attention or coverage is the one that hit central Europe
Making a hierarchy in terror is never a good thing. Never.
Now ignore the politicians who are here for communication purpose and focus on the thousands of people who want to say fuck you to the terror. Take what is good.

Well, Le Pen said something along the line that they weren't invited, didn't she?

Whatever. I'm out.

Satirical newspapers get targeted everywhere? This wouldn't have happened if this was just another trainbombing, this attack was different.

The best terrorist target ever and they've missed it

this is the most inane post in this thread..... "this shit happens everywhere" is the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. Yes, in war torn countries this "shit" does happen but France is not a war torn country, neither was the US, neither was Spain, neither was England etc. This shit is not supposed to happen in the "free world."

Manifestations also happen all the time, at this grand scale? No. Does this mean that these manifestations are meaningless? No.

Of course the media is going to take notice and you said exactly why. It's a CENTRAL EUROPEAN CITY, we shouldn't be dealing with fucking terrorists wanting to blow everything up.

I think Le Pen threw a issy fit because she wasn't invited specifically, but from what I understand, nobody were really invited, they were all free to come. So Le Pen is just being complaining for whatever

This is what I was thinking.

Also, a march against terrorism seems counter-productive. 1) It gives them what they want; attention. 2) Is there really anyone for terrorism who would be swayed by a demonstration?

It's a march for solidarity to quell any of the xenophobia thats bound to occur after events like these.

For the people who are for terrorism: We're not afraid.

To people who are at risk: Our way of freedom and tolerance is better.

To everyone else: We are strong, we are proud, we are unbeatable.

Amazing sight, the French really know how to stand up and march as a people.

Wish Britain had half their organization and focus.

One the one hand, yes. On the other hand: you can't really ignore terrorism. So can as well show international strength and will.

As usual, Le Pen is spreading misinformation in order to further her own agenda, by making herself look like an outcast. She said that she wasn't invited (which is downright false). In any case, she is perfectly free to join, yet she didn't.

It's a march of solidarity of French people and European countries (because this is how it started before also leaders outside EU wanted to join in) in the face of a very real threat against the French and European societies and following an attack on the thing that sits at the basis of a democracy: free speech. It's a "we will stay united to defend our principles". Will this stop terrorists? No. But that's not the point.

Edit: And my opinion is that this might also help some people not to fell into the trap that the right wing parties are.

Nowhere should be dealing with it and calling the west the free world is a bloody joke.

The anti war protests had hundred of thousands of people. The student demos had huge numbers. Lets not forget that we love a good old riot as well. We can do it if we are pushed enough.

Again?
How does that work every single time, and how come she never gets called out for it (or not vehemently enough)?

I should have paid more attention to politics when I was still living in France...

It's a conspiracy, this is the start of the new world order, gather all of the world's most influential people in one place, bomb it and then the reptiles will have completed their last plan for the biggest scale coup d'etat.

This is it folks.

Best first post I've ever read.
