LTTP: The Swapper

Probably my favorite game of 2013, nice puzzles (that could have ramped up a bit earlier to make a smoother transition). The Atmosphere is incredible and I love the Art style, the backgrounds are very well crafted and the modelling with Clay gives the game a unique look. The best part about it is the inclusion of the main gameplay mechanic into the Story and main theme of the game. Which makes you feel a bit uneasy at points just dropping your clones to their death.

This ******* level...

Yeah that's one of the most difficult puzzles. The one that took most of my time however is this one:

I think it took me over an hour to solve it. The rest of the game has a very pleasant difficulty though. You have to use your brain but then you can finish each puzzle within minutes. The atmosphere is great, too. It's a pity I didn't know the game has subtitles, so I missed most of the story. Didn't care about those rocks either.

One of my favorite games I played last year. It reminded me of Vessel that I enjoyed just as much. I'm a sucker for those puzzle-platforming games. I would not mind a few recommendations if there are similar quality games available (Steam, 3DS, Wii or Vita).

Good game, three or four puzzles with novel solutions may frustrate you near the end, but completion is worth it. It's a tight package with great visuals and an effective story. Neat little ending.

Don't be tempted to look up hints or solutions online. The puzzles are all wonderfully simple, and it's all a matter of the one right move clicking into place.

Great game. I think there was one puzzle where I had to look up a guide, there were others that took some time, but I ultimately figured them out.

This is really heavy on puzzles, isn't it? Unless they're not very complex, I'm not a fan of puzzles in most games.

Also, how long is it?

Steam and Vita both have Thomas Was Alone, a minimalist puzzle platformer that relies more heavily on narration than on the puzzles, but it still is a blast through the four hours it lasts. I love that game(more so than The Swapper, in fact).

There is no upgrade or button to reset your clones is there? I got stuck early on in that puzzle where you have to drop a clone onto a button but it gets stuck in the little pit and is of no further use to me.

Vessel is actually really good but no one seemed to notice. It even has interactive music! I've been a sucker for that stuff since Monkey Island 2.

Excellent puzzles and atmosphere.

I'm about 100 orbs in, how much further is there?

Barely any at all, really. Very close to the end.

I loved this game, wasn't expecting it to be so good at all. I think there were only two or three puzzles which genuinely stumped me for ten minutes or so, but I thought the difficulty was pretty spot on for something which is quite story-led.

Wonderful game.

Nice, didn't even notice this was available. Already played through First Light, impressive offering as usual.. On PS3, we got Prototype 2 (still downloading) and Duck Tales, which is awesome. Think there was also a Duke Nukem game, not sure which one though.

Not that I've found so far. If it's the puzzle I'm thinking of, you just have to beat it with one less clone.

That's what I love about this game though. At first, I'd assume that puzzles weren't beatable without some kind of new ability and leave them for later. Turns out they can all be solved with the basic tools at hand and a whole lot of thinking. Makes you feel like a boss when you finally get one.

Haha, that was one I was stuck on for a while. I think every puzzle would have been really easy with one more clone available, and that was the first one where I really felt it.

I stopped halfway through an early version of the game on PC way back when. Now that its on PSN I'll definitely see it through to the end.

Excellent concept and great execution from what I've played of it. Highly recommended for puzzle game fans.

The Talos Principle and The Swapper should be enough to tie me over until The Witness comes out, whenever that is.

I just beat it earlier this week on my Vita and I greatly enjoyed it. I thought the game's ruminations on the mind-body problem was an excellent companion to The Fall, which I also recently completed. This game made me feel a little silly, though - I didn't pick up on the Dennett and Chalmers references until the end, when both characters were speaking one after the other.

God, this puzzle, and the puzzle with the locked room and a little switch above a purple light, had me stumped. I had to put the game down several times and come back to it fresh. The four switches, four walls puzzle was comparatively easy; it 'only' took me ten minutes, most of which were spent finding out how to kill one of my clones once all the switches were occupied.

The artstyle, sound, music, atmosphere, gameplay mechanics, all so good.

Seriously, the artwork in this game is INCREDIBLE.

Thanks. Do you have to complete every single puzzle?

I'm currently stuck on this one. I can get every switch, but the clone that will grab the orb is too far away, and making him walk will cause everyone to move off their switches. I'm currently taking a break from the game but will get back to it tonight or tomorrow.

Awesome game, go for both endings if you can create a save before the finish.

Bought it during that amazing PLAY sale that Sony did this year.

Great atmosphere, and it's a good experience - For a while. Until it catches a classic case of convolut-itis at the end.

Omg I'm here right now. I have no idea how to do this one but I'll try to get to it tomorrow lol.

I finally started the game up after seeing this thread and it's really awesome. I can't believe I didn't know about this before. I hate knowing that awesome concepts like this get by me. I would have never played this without PS+

I don't consider myself all that great at puzzle games, but I was able to beat the entirety of the game, without looking up any solutions to the puzzles.

Almost every puzzle seemed difficult at first, but after messing about, I eventually figured them out.. Only the a couple of the final puzzles perplexed the heck out of me, for over an hour, like the others have said.

Very tricky.. but so satisfying to solve.

Brilliant game.

Just played through the Vita version. Great game, although the last 2-3 puzzles are just too complicated and I didnt have fun with them. I kinda cheesed em' and i dont think I beat them correctly. Story was a bit of wash, but it does get interesting in the finale.

Overall the first 90% and finale are really fun, but seriously those last puzzles are just kind of a bummer.

As it happens with most puzzle games I play, it got to a point where I got tired of figuring them out as they got more difficult, and I stopped playing for a while. Will probably go back to it, but will check online later to solve the most difficult ones.

Good game nonetheless.

EDIT: Btw, irrc, I'm stuck in the first one that lets you use the stars current, or whatever that is.

Good game but two things bother me: I can't try the ending again[without playing through the entire game, correct me if I'm wrong] and I've finished the game without getting a single trophy. FFS.

I finally sat down and gave this a few hours. Really enjoying it so far, both the gameplay and the setting remind me of a lot of great things: Portal, Metroid, Alien, all smashed up.
