Australian Gaming Deals: Bloody hell! What a sale!

I've seen people made threads about Canadian and European threads, and here I was, thinking to myself, where is the Australian one? I know we have an AusGaf thread, but I could barely find any deals. So here we are.

We don't have Black Fridays ('cept for EB Games) and even the store has limited sales, you will have to wait it out until December - New Years section. We also have some mid year sales. So if your stuck in January - May, you basically have to wait it out.

DS are region free, Wii, 3DS and Wii U are region-locked to PAL regions (European).
PS3 and PS4 are region free (however developers can region lock games).
Some XBOX360 games are region free.
XBOX One isn't region locked (however Chinese games will not work with it)

If you wish to import from Europe, check out the Cheap Arse Gamer thread.

I've tried to find an existing thread and have yet to find one. Slap me if old.

I've never had an issue when buying 360/PS3/PS4 games and accessories from them. If something is for a specific region they usually list it on the page and let you know, so they're really good like that. :)

I don't bother anymore with importing when Dick Smith have being killing it on day 1.

Also Ozgameshop and Mighty Ape suck now with their prices.

OP should include sales for Alienware Alpha. Being owned by Dell some sales can occur all year round in AUS.

Most bargains get posted in AusGAF (or on Twitter) but there hasn't been much around lately.

Importing is medicore these days with the dollar dropping and prices have gone up, along with postage costs.

Even places like BeatTheBomb aren't competitive. Day one prices are usually best at Dick Smith, looking forward to more $55 posted pre-orders in the future :)

In any case you are better off checking OzBargain religiously as every deal you can think of ends up there quickly.

They aren't cheap anymore, haven't used them in ages. Not with all the launch prices being awesome as late, $59 etc from big w and the like.

I'd say they're comparable (and sometimes still cheaper than most launch titles), but lately I have been price matching Big W and Target at EB's because they have had decent prices. I'd still buy my accessories from ozgameshop though--unless EB's or somewhere else has an amazing sale/discount. Either way it's good to have options.

Also Vita is region free for physical copies of games. Vita PSN accounts/stores/digital games are locked 1 region per memory card.

Make sure to double check 365games (which is the original version of OzGameShop before they added an AU frontend) as they tend to have cheaper prices than OGS sometimes.

Good idea, even if it just ends up aggregating OzBargain posts! Fingers crossed for another $399 PS4 deal soon. Kicking myself for talking myself out of that one, doubly so with Grim Fandango just around the corner and The Swapeer free this month.

Ozgameshop have some good Wii U prices. $57 for Donkey Kong, $60 for Bayo 1+2, $64 for Lego City. They used to have Pikmin 3 for $57 but ran out of stock. Add the 24hr 10% off deal and the're looking pretty good.

And we pretty much do have black friday now. Not that it's that great.

Actually, overall our prices are awesome these days. We definitely don't pay anywhere near double anymore. As a result, the bargains are kind of anemic now, since the margins are a lot thinner. Which is why heaps of stores have pulled out of gaming, like Myer, Toys r Us, soon to be KMart, etc.

Blockbuster games I think is one of the cheapest places for games on the net.

http://www.blockbuster.com.au/games

I've got a few WiiU games through them and usually pay around $50 per game. Shipping is a little slow but no more so than the other importers. They also have a 20% off sale at the moment.

Kind of late since the 10% code is dead but OGS had Guilty Gear Xrd Limited Edition for $83-ish which is about as cheap as it gets anywhere. Without discount it's $92.99 which is still less than what it'd cost elsewhere with shipping.

Gone now, so don't rush to click, but Target were selling the New 3DS for $177 on their eBay store, using the 'CBACK2SCHOOL' code.

Out of stock now (they seemingly only had 10 or 12), but maybe it'll come back?

Are there any stores in Melbourne that sell some of the rarer good DS games (besides Dungeon Crawl)? EB games is out of stock for things like Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow.

still available gogogo!

Yeah, I finally pulled the trigger on a 3DS XL, even though the deal wasn't quite as low as I'd like. I'm finding I'm spending more and more time playing mobile games, namely iPad, so this was as good as any other deal I had seen, especially on the new 3DS.

Now hunting bargains on a couple games! Pretty great backlog to catch up on.

When I try to pre-order, the price comes up as $79.98. ??

I'd probably do it instores. Thats how I usually do it.

Aren't Dick Smith notorious with their preorders? I've heard stories of them not fulfilling their preorders day 1.

I've only had an issue a couple of times where they weren't aware of the preorder price, but that was mostly because of ignorant workers who didnt know about it more than anything else.

Just make sure you have some sort of evidence in case they try and screw you.

When I went go buy a game from them I told them of the price on the DSE website , but they said they have nothing to do with the website's price. Is this true?
