I think Uncharted has pretty much done all that it needs to do. It was a great series that is about to tell a complete story, both in terms of plot and in gameplay. It's rare, perhaps unheard of, for a game series to end on its own terms. The idea of Uncharted ending as ND wants should be savored.

Besides, they've shown that they can sell new IPs, so Sony should be able to deal with Uncharted ending and something new beginning.

I feel this gen wont be as long for ND to create 4 games. And I'm not sure I want a Jak 4 because the art work wasn't to my liking. If they are just going to go darker then it defeats the purpose of the IP and genre.

I don't like the character designs but the environment artwork looked gorgeous. The gears meshed with nature, fights taking place in hanger of an aircraft and unique creatures used as transport etc. Fantasy-Sci-fi would be incredible.

That said, Screenshots looked awful. Interview was very interesting stuff. "who knows what was going on in Jak and Daxter" lol.

Hand the IP to someone else if they don't want to do it any more. I like new IPs, but continuing popular is not a bad thing. Nintendo thrives on it and really Microsoft too.

This will just tarnish the IP. Which developer is merging story and gameplay with this level of cinematic flair as successfully as ND? No one outside ND will be able to replicate it well. I think if ND is not doing it no one else should do it.

Naughty Gods.
I prefer to think of them as wizards ;)
That's pretty awesome, but having some of the letters in the title on Drake's head is a little weird.
yeah I was thinking that too. But I'd rather it like that then have him be smaller in that image.

I agree. If anything, they can have a new protagonist and not continue it numerically. They say Uc3 was supposed to be the last one, but it was not exactly a fitting conclusion to nathan's story if you ask me. Uc4 is hotly anticipated.

Nintendo is remarkable for its recycled IPs, but, I don't see mS having the same fair share of luck besides Halo. And PlayStation's never had an IP that's stuck around that long that's been as strongly identified, nor as popular as Nintendo's. At least, none since its beginning (Ps1). There were 4 trilogies that was synonymous with the original PlayStation, and they were crash bandicoot, spyro, tekken, and final fantasy, none of which were ever 1st party (at least, i don't think crash & spyro were), and none of which are still exclusive to PlayStation to this day. the jak, ratchet & clank, and spyro games are all considered great games but they don't have the same lasting and iconic appeal that mario, zelda, pokemon, and metroid have with nintendo. the difference with Uncharted is that although it is an IP that began on the 3rd iteration of PlayStation, the 2nd game in the series was a breakthrough and is considered one of the best games ever. And now that PlayStation is back on the lead as top gaming platform, PlayStation's biggest new IP which was Uncharted, has its newest game as one of the most anticipated, Uc4.
There won't be an uncharted game after A Theif's End

I would be fine seeing uncharted come to a close, but with the gaming industry being an expensive market for both firms and consumers, it's likely they'll keep it around. but hopefully, they end nathan drake's story here and if they continue uncharted, future installments will be non-numerical and will feature a different protagonist.

a few new screens, most have been seen already though

Guh.. It looks so good.

As a huge fan of Uncharted 2, but not so much of Uncharted 3.. is there any indication that this will have the charm, banter, and fun of the former game, and be less like Uncharted 3 in general?

The Uncharted 4 stuff looks beautiful, but it also seems to carry a lot of emotional weight.. hope it's more light hearted than Uncharted 3 anyway..

Not all sequels need to be grittier and darker than the last, and I'm afraid that's what they're going for, because that's the thing to do.

I hope not. If this is supposed to be the final installment, I'd like to see a darker tone. Going full circle, Nathan needs to realize all the consequences of his actions and what he gets himself into.

-If there's a big head mode or some other bonus weirdness, that could also carry over into the cut-scenes, potentially.

Oh man, this is going to be hilarious.

Great! Something to watch later! Thanks ;)

Uncharted 4 info there:

-Whatever guns you have in gameplay will show up properly during cut-scenes.
-If your pants are dirty/wet in gameplay, they will still be dirty/wet during cut-scenes.
-If there's a big head mode or some other bonus weirdness, that could also carry over into the cut-scenes, potentially.
Wow, really? This pretty much confirms all cutscenes are rendered in real time. You can't have all that when the cutscenes are played as video files. Can't wait to watch the interview

Yeah they confirmed that.

I think the move to real time cutscenes was probably also a consequence of movie files becoming too prohibitively large on disc.

I think it's possible to be serious, but still have the wit and banter the second game had between all characters.. I just have doubts they'll do that.

Oh well.. back into a dark hole until the game comes out. Don't wanna know aaaanything..

You can rewatch the PSX footage to see it already. It's one of the things I've originally pointed out when it was released.

I'm pretty sure that mountain is some goal they have to get to. Its pretty visually distinctive signpost, and you see it right before the combat section. Drake looks up at and says, "...well its just a...hop, skip, and enormous leap away..."

Its like some giant mouth, including fangs and even holes for eyes.

Like I said, the cutscenes in the PSX demo are undoubtedly real time for neutral people but a certain tech site was claiming it could be pre rendered

That train level is still so amazing. The fact that it's really moving through the level and you can go inside and outside when you see fit, is just another example of how dynamic Uncharted's gameplay is. Masters of their craft.

did you lose an avatar bet
what's wrong with his avatar?

eh, I don't think those prerendered video files ever took up that much space. This is more to have customization, seamlessness and overall smoother experience.

Well, they did say the game is gonna still be a light hearted romp, and that was in response to the rumors that the game was gonna be darker than ever. I don't think you have anything to worry about, bub.
Apologies if this is old, but here is some concept art I haven't seen before:

holy fuck. are you sure that's concept art and not a screenshot?

I really hope they add unlockables and 'cheats' like they did in Uncharted:DF and Uncharted 2, loved replaying the game with them!

Just having simple stuff like unlimited ammo and the option to get any gun whenever you want was great, but being able to change clothes/skins etc would be hilarious this time around with real time cutscenes.
