Capcom cuts content (local co-op) from PC version of Revelations 2.

That's pretty shitty. It's bad enough that online multiplayer isn't there at launch, but now PC owners aren't ever getting offline co-op? So basically PC owners don't have any kind of multiplayer until whenever the online update comes out.

Truthfully, I can't believe Raid mode online won't be up until later. That was where I spent almost all my time with Revelations 1 on PC :/

Would be a lot different if from day 1 they said "split screen coop not availble on PC. Which wasn't the case at all.

Yeah, this is what annoys me the most about this whole thing. I already got the game on PC, too. And to think they were talking about offline co-op so much before release (perfect to play with your girlfriend etc.)... I feel like I was tricked.

Yep it's pretty shitty since there was no mention of this beforehand. At least with Raid Online MP can still happen in some form. But with SP were left out in the cold for an entire feature.

Yep they should have been vocal about this from the get go. Especially as you said they made a big deal about the offline coop.

Does this mean we have to play online with someone else in order to play through the campaign?

You can't even do that. Local coop is the only option for the game on all systems. So now that it's taken out of PC there is no option to ever play the story mode in coop.

I didn't know games supported local co op on PC. Shitty of Capcom to take it out if it was originally intended to be in though.

Welp, I guess I just have to act like I'm playing RE:0. Just switching between characters back and forth myself during the campaign.

I just hope the AI isn't stupid as hell.

Not a big deal for me, local co-op was never really a big thing on the PC and I'm not interested in it anyway, so this won't affect my purchasing decision.

Still, I guess Capcom should've handled this better, like giving out a warning sooner...

They treat PC players like second class citizens.

Wait, you can't play the campaign online? Now that really fucking sucks.

I thought that Capcom were usually good with their PC ports so why the hell would they do this?

I wasn't too mad since this is kind of common but then I realized that there will never be online coop for the campaign. So that means on the PC version you cannot play coop in the campaign no matter what - that is pretty shitty.

re6 has offline co-op, and that was a lot of fun. i already purchased this on steam thinking i can play it in splitscreen. sigh

To be honest, I wouldn't know much about it. There are few Capcom games I was ever interested in, all I can remember playing is the Lost Planet series and some Resident Evil games. Never had any problems with them... the only complaint I have is RE 5 DLC not being available on the PC, but there are rumors we may soon get the Gold Edition on Steam.

QLOC ports of Capcom games (RE6, DmC) are always top-notch, but Revelations 2 probably wasn't done by them, same as it was with Rev1.

Jeez, you don't know how bummed out I am by this.

There's no online co-op for the campaign. It's not planned to be patched in either. This means that the PC version of Revelations 2 has no campaign co-op period.

I can't imagine why this should be necessary. If this is a short-term delay on it for playtesting reasons, they should communicate that clearly. Otherwise, it just looks like an arbitrary shortcoming for an otherwise high-end version.

Hardly arbitrary since split screen coop is the only way coop can be played in this game.

I'm not a PC gamer, but exactly how many new PC games still have local multiplayer? Seems like something very few people would take advantage of.

Still having it on the listing is scummy though.
There are probably more games coming out on PC with local multiplayer than there are on consoles now a days.

1) lol at people having that old-school image of playing solely with a keyboard

2) this wasn't cut for technical reasons. I'd guess it has to do with piracy.

Uh. How would split screen mean anything for piracy?
Somebody take to the forums with a wbacon symbol, it worked for me when I asked about preorder goodies once.

Already quite a few mad people here. Anyone angry about this should post there to let them know how scummy this is.

Wouldn't cutting co-op encourage piracy? If you can't play on one machine, you'd need to pirate two copies to play it co op on two machines.
You can't even do that. Since raid is online only no lan from what I hear. Plus as was said SP is only split screen. So no one on PC is ever playing that coop.

Capcom lost my interest when they didn't support 3DS/Wii u this go around...even still what a dumb thing to cut, PC's are in the living room now, or did they not get the memo?

So Crapcom puts it on feature parity with the Vita version :p
At this point, I have no hope for the vita version what so ever. Pretty sure they left that to the hands of third party so they don't get the blame when it comes out even more bastardized than it already is.

Why should I have to rely on a hacky mod to do it?

You shouldn't. But it's the power of PC gaming: If something is not supported and it's possible, it can be done by someone with too much time and effort.

The incredibly stupid decision of cutting a feature becomes an incredibly scummy decision when announced so late.

Controllers are a thing on PC.
360 controllers along with XINPUT functionality is supported by most titles these days. Hell most will let you play with the keyboard and controller at the same time if you want.

I have two controllers, which is all I need to play this game.

I do, I also have multiple USB controllers.

Woosh!

We need more split-screen on PC, not less. This irritates me greatly. Split-screen coop would be an incentive for me to pick this up, goddamnit Capcom.

PC the new Nintendo confirmed?

Sad news, no sale from me.

That would be the case if it was no online co-op, rarely do I ever play a pc game in splitscreen but I can understand it being a necessity if people are using Big Picture mode on Steam.

Really shitty of them to remove it from the game though.

Err piracy was a bad guess.
I think it more has to do with the size of the install base.

There are more potential buyers on PC than on consoles, PCs are more available.

Cutting that would mean everyone would have to buy a copy to actually play.
Only speculation though.

Now the really dumb thing to do by Capcom is to simply disable co-op instead of entirely removing co-op functionality from the master build executable. The whole scheme would be hilarious.

Eh doubtful. Since cutting it out means no one on PC can play the SP coop. My guess after I read it somewhere. Is that the game on PC will support higher Resolutions. For some reason the Split Screen either caused issues in scaling or something else so they cut it. Rather than going "Splitscreen only availble for 1920x1080 and lower". Nothing official but that is the only thing I have seen that can hold some water.

But even if that's the case it's still dumb since they know the PC community will tinker and probably fix what they couldn't.

Wtf? Why remove basic features? My own hacked together game engine built with open source libraries supports proper split-screen for up to 4 players with totally custom control mappings for any mix of XBox controllers, keyboard and mouse per player, and I don't even get paid for this shit.

I put it on my wishlist specifically because of local coop. Was equally disappointed when I discovered that Splinter Cell: Blacklist had local coop removed from the PC version.

Oh well, they can keep it.

Hopefully, these companies will begin to realise that with big picture mode, some of us actually use our PC as a console in the living room a lot of the time.

Response now Thanks to Dusk Golem for the heads up.

The Capcom guy just responded to it, his response is... Interesting.

"I don't have any info on the local coop/split screen, but I've alerted our PR and dev folks if there's any info on it. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I have information.

Just to be clear though, the game will eventually support online coop; it just won't be ready for Episode One. Same goes for the console versions."

Wonder what's going on.
