Yeah I'll start it this weekend. I've done so much reading on lifting and so little on diet. I wanted a scientific no nonsense/gimmicks and this seemed to fit the bill.
Same here. There's way too much crap on diets and it seems like a crapshoot on what works. Interested to see how that book and diet works since eventually I'll need to cut .

That's quite a lot of exercises. I used to do this workout plan back in the days and I'm doing it again, it's the same push/pull/legs/rest pattern : Scooby's intermediate workout plan.Based on my very own experience, it works pretty well.

Thanks, will take a look at that! As I'm not doing all exercises in the plan I posted and as you plan suggests a higher number of sets, it looks like the volume is similar. Training my body parts twice a week has definitely led to improvements though. Then again, I wasn't starting from zero.

Down another half pound. Basically there. Still eating 1400 calories on keto. Hit the gym today and cage was taken, so did bench instead. Got 225 super easy. So easy I never even got a drop of sweat. I looked and cage had opened up.

Thought to myself, "ILB U NUTS BRO, YOU CAN'T DO 2 DAYS OF 1s WEEK ON THE SAME DAY WITH THESE CALORIES". But I felt strong. Went and did my squats and got 335 easy. Tomorrow I'll go in and do the accessories from both days since I did the main lifts and FSL only on both.

I love keto so much.

I couldn't do it last year and didn't try for past few months and I can finally do chinups, little success :D pull ups next but I can do 1 or 2 with correct form, will try again next week but not at the end of workout (and I'm some serious cut right now and few other things so I'm super weak)

Only the 3rd day back on IF and my body is already adapted. Gotta love that.

IF really is amazing. I tried it a long time ago and failed because I wasn't mentally prepped for it. Now however I couldn't imagine not fasting. Really makes life a lot easier.

I'm reading it right now, it's pretty good. Definitely going to try that diet next month.

It's a great outline on how to bulk/cut in a very efficient manner with great overall diet ideas.

Aww yeah! Adipowers came in today. Can't wait to test them out tomorrow. Even trying them on and doing some body weight squats at home, I felt SO MUCH more stable and secure.

Wish I would have gotten them sooner.

Those are the ones I bought. Excellent choice.

So my shoulders have been sorta fucked since doing those dislocator exercises. I'm hoping that's part of the process of them loosening up. =/

No. If you are in any pain doing them, do not do them. They are a good exercise for keeping healthy shoulders healthy but not good for making bad shoulders healthy.

Wasn't in pain doing them, they felt good. Since then though my shoulder's haven't felt good at all.

To answer your question, shoulder pain after doing dislocations is not normal. You've got to decide whether it was doing the dislocations that made your shoulders feel bad or another factor entirely.

I'd be surprised if it was anything else. Wonderful, looks like that exercise is out then.

Struggling with my bench press a lot at the moment. I've started following Alan thralls advice but it's not really helping. The movement just doesn't feel natural and I just feel weak doing it. Just gotta keep at it I guess.

On the up side I recently started doing weighted dips and chins/pull ups and they have been a god send. Previously I found it slow going improving on these exercises but now I feel like I'm making huge gains. I'm going 10kg's for both and when I do regular ones now they feel SO much easier. Wish I had tried this earlier.

What doesn't feel natural and what particular parts feel weak when you're benching?

I think those are crossfit bumper plates.

Bumper plates yeah, but nothing particularly CF about them. The hi-temps are made of recycled rubber and tend to be wider than others though.

Also, strangely, they are 17.5" diameter instead of the standard 450mm for some odd reason. It's a very small difference, but it's there.

Why would one use them?

1) cheaper than regulation plates
2) known for durability
3) made in the USA (there are a lot of inexpensive Chinese bumpers as well)

The downside of course is that as wide as they are you are limited in how many plates your can fit on the bar. I'm approaching the point where that's going to be an issue on deadlifts, I'll have to be ok with buying a few more expensive plates and mix/match. The difference in size really is minimal, only 1/10" of an inch in the radius. It will never be an issue on any other lifts for me.

Other lifts will likely never be an issue for me.

237.5lbs this morning, officially 100lbs lost in just about 3 years (only 2 of those years dieting) of lifting. I'm going to take today, sat and sun and eat at maintenance or so to give my body a break. Still going to be keto the entire time, just eating more.

That´s some good results, bro. Did you take pics of the journey?

for those working on hypertrophy, what exactly are you doing? my ophthalmologist is telling me to stop working on solely strength based routines (submaximal weights and valsalva is putting too much strain on my retinas). all iknow is to eat alot.

You should be proud. Damn nice work Bish. So many inspirational stories in FitGaf. Between you, Darth, and Sean you guys lost almost as much as Brolic can deadlift!

Ran into this pic awhile back, and after both my wife and I adapted for our feet (wide forefoot for me, high instep for her), I have to say it made an incredible difference. Some slight knee pain that I was generally battling went away

Probably common knowledge to a lot of people in here, but this was new to me.

I just hit my personal best on dog sled pull (overhand pull). I just pulled a 480lb sled :)

It's my favourite exercise my trainer has me do. Much more fun than squats and suitcase deadlifts (my most hated)

Also first time I felt powerful after an exercise. Stupid thing to be proud of, but it was a great feeling.

Why shouldn't you be proud? Get over that. Start finding more things in the gym (& life) to be proud of.

I mean feeling powerful. I am proud of plenty of things. I am proud of the fact I'm going to the gym 5 days a week in the first place. Just feel a bit silly being proud of feeling powerful, haha.

I don't quite understand why that is something to feel silly about. Lots of hard work translated into tangible proof. Embrace your power!

Just found out that there's a meet in Chapel Hill in May, it'll be my last chance to compete before my 20th birthday and officially snag the state record. Right now I'm sitting at about 315/315/405 B/S/DL at 177 bw. I need to drop 15lbs by May while not losing anything on bench and adding maybe 20-30 pounds on squat and 30-40 pounds on deadlift. The program I'm on right now is good but I'm considering running smolov or something else. I wish there wasn't such a time crunch and I don't know if I'll be able to get down to 165 without dehydrating myself before the weigh-in. Suggestions?

I'd like to get a pair of those Adidas Adipower shoes. No idea what size I'd take. Just curious if anybody ordered a pair of weightlifting shoes how they went about ordering the right size.

I highly doubt any stores by me carry these type of shoes. Unless I just go try on a regular Adidas sneaker and base the size off that.
