I cant argue with most if his points. Many of his problems were the same ones I had with the game. I enjoyed the combat more than Joe though and it sounds like I enjoyed the story more then he did.
He says it doesnt earn the right for a sequel, I think it does. He says it was 6-7 hours, it took me 10-12 on hard with auto aim off. I guess that 6-7 is accurate on the default settings. He complains about the 5 year dev cycle without any regard for the building of that amazing engine with a small team which I think is a tad misleading.
The replay value is there for me because they nailed the atmosphere, gun fights and characters so much that I want to revisit it even though there is no extra content offerings on subsequent playthroughs which I think is a achievment on its own.
I cant ignore the things that this game does so well IMO like the graphics, setting/atmosphere, gunplay, voicework, attention to detail, music, lore and story. These things take this game into the above average catagory for me.
Its all the stupid dumb shit like the lycan encounters, pointless collectables, bad ending, weak bosses, shitty implementation of QTE, the lack of use of good weapons, overuse of cutscenes and not delivering on other thing like destructable environments ect that hold this game back from greatness. Its a lot holding it back but I truly think this game deserves a 6-7/10 score.
IMO anything under 5 is not fair. Tgere is too much good in this game to be considered below average. There are way too many worse games out there with higher scores.
