I hope Lirik is gonna stream this game this week. Enjoyed watching him stream SimCity and it looks like he's burned out on H1Z1. :d

Hope we can pre-load this game btw, even though it shouldn't be so big.

I don't think that Lirik got a streaming or other permit. He must wait for the game to be out on 10th.
I've heard him being burned on H1Z1 yesterday and found him playin it even after it. The BR craving is strong with him. Also where is that new damn intro - music composer, get your game on, man!

Regarding the size, the game will demand like ~1.4-2GB for now.

I can stream this afternoon when I get home from the day job. Likely would be NOTHING like some of the pros out there, but pretty much only you folks would be my audience so we could do whatever you want if you have specific questions.

Damnit, missed out on the GMG offer, the only time it is actually cheaper to buy on GMG than from Steam directly. :(

Guys what is the best city management game that I can play before this comes out? SimCity 4?

I am personally a really big fan of the Anno games. City management with a lot of resource management as well, very relaxed if you play on a map with no enemies, no short term goals etc, all about just building a nice and functional city. The cities are beautiful as well. You can get the two most recent games in the series on Steam, Anno 1404 and Anno 2070. Warning though, 2070 requires Uplay as a launcher. Both are great so if you wanna at least try it out, start with Anno 1404 and see what you think.

Banished is more recent and is pretty good.

Banished is a great game, but it's like Dark Souls crossed with SimTown. Not really a "city" builder in the modern city sense, but it's colonial style still is fantastic. No traffic to optimize, nor any RCI stuff to balance out. The game is all about survival, and it's easy to make a few mistakes that can result in ruin and devastation. But that's why I find the game so damn fun too. I've played it for over 80 hours and I'm nowhere near done with it. And Banished has a great mod scene too, I've not even delved into that at all yet.

Now, as for which game is the best CITY builder currently, I'd still have to go with the 10+ year old Simcity 4 as the best. When modded out it's the most flexible and complete city builder out there right now (but this might be changing in one week). It is showing it's age however, as it's 2D isometric, not 3D, and it's not optimized for modern CPU's or GPU's at all. I want a modern Simcity 4 SO FUCKING BADLY!!!!!!

Cities XXL could have been great, but it's multitude of bugs and really poor performance hinder it a lot. It's a good game in concept, but sadly frustrating to play. I wish it had been better.

Simcity 2013 has a fantastic UI, awesome music, and looks great, but it's terribly limiting city size coupled with it's bugs and broken simulation really make it the worst of the bunch right now. It just isn't as much fun to play as the others, it's lack of gameplay brings it down so far. I even prefer Cities XXL over Simcity 2013, and that's hard to admit.

All IMHO of course!

There hasn't been a good Simcity style city builder for a while. The Cities XL line was mediocre at best and Simcity 2013 was a disaster. That's why so many people are hoping this game will be good.

Simcity 4 is 3D isometric with fixed cameras, not 2D. It still looks really good thanks to all the realistic mods that it has, even with the nearest zoom (apart from vehicles and citizens). No camera movement is a boomer, becuase you cant take beautiful shots from epic angles, that is true.
I would say, the real problem in this day an age with SC4 is how you need to download the mods and the dependency system. Is absolute bonkers and nobody has time with that (I lost 2-3 whole days downloading and installing mods before I could play).
This shit from the sim city modding community needs to stop:
Fuck dependencies, and fuck egos. I hope nothing like this appears in Skylines.

Damn I want this game but Simcity 2013 still rings in my head making me scare of buying other game of this genre

It's not like it was a surprise that Sim City was a disaster, anyone following the game weeks beforehand knew there were going to be lots of major problems with it from the city size to the always online requirement.

Well, technically, it is 2D sprites made to simulate a 3D look. The buildings aren't 3D models but are sprites drawn in two dimensions at the four various angles that the game allows you to "pan". It's pseudo 3D, like Baldur's Gate and Crusader No Remorse. It worked well back then and is actually why the game still looks pretty good to this day, but it's also why you will never have a free camera in SC4 and will never be able to get a street view of any kind.

God, it's both amazing and incredibly sad how old Simcity 4 really is, and truly pathetic that it's still the best of it's genre even today. :(

Watching Quill stream , the games looks really good .

Anyway I've a very small opinion , the game doesn't seems to generate any human models even on max zoom ? Isn't this took away the immersion slightly ?

Quill stream is showing human and dog models right now.

Yep lots of eyes on this. I think your reasons above are why a lot of people are waiting for reviews/impressions before hitting buy. That was me until last week. I saw something I liked in the devs and love the concept. Someone mentioned it being like SC4 and my balls throbbed. I'm onboard and more than most games revently I'm excited for the mods as much as the game.
