I have 2.1 speakers on my PC and a 2.1 soundbar on my TV, soundbar is by far better.
what soundbar are you using? I have been looking at the razer one.

Go for nearfield studio monitors. What's the over all consensus on soundbars? Are they suitable replacements for a 2.1 pc speaker set up?

AV cabinet which is housing XB1, PS4, Virgin Tivo box and Sony DN1040 amp. Amp is running Tannoy speakers in 7.2 as well, crazy amount of bass from the two subs. All cabling is run through ducting under the floor, walls and ceiling so no cables hanging out anywhere really:
I have just converted my garage into a gaming/cinema room, very happy with the results so far. Still need a few more bits and bobs but it's pretty much done I think.
Do you have a record of the build process for this? I would love to see it.
for the sake of contributing to the thread, although that one setup was too good for my blood !!
*snip*
excuse the speaker wires, i have been messing around with my rear speakers lately, and the wires were too short for the new placing!!! need new wire.
How much wire do you need? I have a huge roll (250ft) of 16g wire and could parse some out to you if you wanted to pay USPS flat rate. I bought a roll for out of wall installation and wound up doing completely in-wall/in-ceiling setup so I had to get another roll that UL listed in wall because it is running near electrical cables.
Wow that's real nice of you dude. I appreciate it but shipping to Canada with the weight of the wire probably wouldn't be worth i? I only need one 20 ft length of thinnish type as it's just for rear towers only 6 inch drivers and some tweeters and they are doing surround duties only. What you think?
The wire I've got may be overkill. I got what was meant for long runs of cable (up to 60ft) and 8" drivers. I don't have any thin speaker cable :/
Exactly how I feel. I'm too poor to look at this thread
Nice thread. I see a lot of you ladies and gents have nice big TVs, but then you go sit 25 feet away from it... Lol. I have a humble 55-inch Sony, and I sit 6 feet away from that motherfucker, eyesight be damned. I want to feel like I'm IN the game, like front row at a movie.

Where did you get that tv stand?
muh gawd
Yo, do you have a link to dat Cloud vs Sephiroth wallpaper?
noticed that as well. Then I start to wonder how useful is 4k for people who sit that far away.. heck even 1080p is probably wasted in some of these setups.
I moved right after Christmas and moved into my new place a little over a month ago. Here's how my new gaming setup currently stands:
I don't recognize it but the guy looks Dutch. Is it a Dutch movie?Who can tell the movie on screen?

PC and Sub:
From the couch, you can't see (or hear) the PC at all, which I'm very happy with. PC is a i7-4790k / GTX 980 in a Deep Silence 1. Xbox One is for Destiny (basically) and Kinect stuff, as well as having a dedicated Blu-ray player, as I really didn't like using the wireless keyboard and mouse to run BDs through the PC.
I've this same cabinet and setup. I have my shelf set a little higher away from my receiver and keep my Wii U and PS4 on top, while keeping the Xbone where you have it. Do you not feel like you may be giving your receiver too little room to ventilate?
Garrus, Peach, Daft Punk, and King Henry's Seven Wives as Bunnykins:
That's Mordin not Garrus. Awesome regardless.
I was more just saying that since we have a 60" TV and for how far we sit can't really see the difference on 720p games to 1080p games. We sit like 15' or more away. While it is a nice big screen I can't see the difference like I can in my room 2-3' away from my monitorOh no, the Carlton Bale chart... It is on the pessimistic side of the level of detail people's eyes can discern.
I'm not saying these are the truth, but the Carlton Bale chart is too often brought up as a counterargument against 4k, and it's a bit sad.
Yup, it's definitely close. That AVR has been in there for ~5 years, and I've never had any issues with it, knock on wood. I'd honestly be more concerned about the Xbox overheating, so I'm inclined to give it more space!
I picked up three of these fans: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00G059G86/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have two running on either side of the Xbone (they can be daisychained off one USB), and one down on the receiver to vent a little air.
