You know what? I think I would have felt better about the whole situation if Team Ninja just flat-out admit they were porting the arcade build of the game to PC from the jump, which is what it looks like they're doing (since it has the enhancements of the AC build but nothing new to the PS4/XBone ones). At least that would make some sense, since a game already running on Windows 7 Embedded would be easier to port than even the PS4/XBone builds. Kind of assey that they won't get the new stages in, though (which is probably the one real significant L). I bought it in the B/S/T thread for $12, which sounds about right. I feel kind of dirty supporting such an assey build (and there's no way I would do it at full freight), but there's not much to do about it now.

I also like how the network patch is scheduled to come out right around Evo and when the Summer Sale happens. Sounds like a really good time for a promo, all things considered.

I agree. It was extremely shitty of them to not outright state what we were getting from the start. Their whole attitude to communicating with PC fans has been pretty disgusting, and correct me if I'm wrong but they still haven't officially announced a features list in English, have they?

They have not. Which is unusual, are TN launching this game in Japan on Steam? I'm impressed if they are because I know the Steam population in Japan is not very large (but they are dedicated)

Yay, they fixed whatever was wrong with the Hot Getaway costume pack not transferring to Last Round. What a clusterfuck of laziness or incompetence Last Round has been. All the bugs, lack of AA and AF, zero improvement to stage textures, PC port based on last gen version (how hard could it have been to port the xb1 version!?). I hope the reason is because all the port jobs was handled by interns or something while the rest of Team Ninja is working on DOA6 or some other big project.

Let us be real. They are probably working DOAX3.

I'm already trying to get a refund from Steam. Why does Koei Tecmo do this shit? I really hope more people follow suit. Hopefully when a real 3D fighter follows suit they don't pull this bullshit.

Just because the game didnt do a good PC port it doesnt make it less of a fighter. Calm yourself before looking bitter.

Not that Ranked matters all that much but dammit I just de-ranked. And to make matters worse I lost to a Marie Player. Hoisted by my own baton. Am cry.

Indeed.

I bitch about DOA5 all the time, but you can't just turn up with the old "DOA is not a real 3D fighter" and expect the discussion to end there.

If they even bother to respond they make it quite obvious they've never even touched the series. It's not against the law to like more than 1 3d fighter.

When the biggest complain is about a skin shader and particle effects (that mostly looks out of place except a few stages) you can tell there were not exactly in for the gameplay and more for the titty show.

I'm still in :p I just hope my PC doesn't fall apart trying to run it, given those system requirements. Also, it's $20 here in Mexico.

I doubt those system requirements are right. We'll see when it launches just how demanding it is.

DOA5 is actually a really good 3D fighter, but if you wait for another 3D fighter to show up on Steam, you are probably going to be waiting for a very long time. Yeah, they could of handled the port much better I must admit.

I want people to define a real fighter. Because when people say that they make no sense to me. Anyhows I'm in the lab with my tag team trying to nail down a 11 hit 55% damage combo that can set up for a follow up and a kill loop. But I'm running into issues... Hmmm

because doa prior to 5 and except 3.1 weren't really competitive fighters. Atleast they weren't considered that by the majority of the people playing fighting games competitively at that time. Hell, there are/were DOA players called anything outside 3.1 and 5 not real fighters. And because of that legacy, people have this stigma with doa5.

Also the whole itagaki going out of his way to make the game non-competitive. I heard DOA4 prior to release was really good, but then itagaki fucked that up on purpose.

It has that legacy to live up to. Just like MK series has the legacy of being a shit fighter for a decade from umk3 to mk9, and to this day MK gets shit on by people despite being at EVO like 3 times in a row.

DOA1.5 was VERY good as was most eiditons of DOA2 I would say after the Alpha 4 went to shit because Itagaki misunderstood fighting games and made changes so his scrub ass could win. He also tried to make the game offensive while putting in a very open counter mechanic that did too much damage that it made the game defensive.

He watered down the characters so they all played the same, gave people some shit tools so people would be encouraged to play the overly defensive play which culminated in a tourney match on tv where 2 players stared at each other for 58 seconds till one hit the other and backed off for the time out win. Where Itagaki was found saying "Must hit the buttons faster"

I never got the love for itagaki just based off 1 game when his two games were "Hayashit" level, I guess it's his cult of personality.

Any how I got my combo ideas down for tag. Gonna be practicing them on stream till it's time for me to pass out. :)

I'd say it's really only DoA4 that wasn't competitive. DoA2U did amazing things for the genre. Its featureset in online play is still unmatched by most fighters (including other doa games, lol).

Ignorance is never a reason to accept a game being shit on, though. Says more about the people spouting shit than the game they're trying to insult.

Well tbh I never tried DoA2U (only the original).

While ignorance is never a reason to accept why a game is getting shit on, it is an explanation of why it is getting shit on.

DOA had a lot going against it since its creation. It was a VF ripoff at first, then it was mostly TnA until 3.1 which only very few played. Then you had the whole DOA scene not giving a shit about competitive play and offline tournaments. I mean, even now you still have a ton of people that just simply refuse to go out to tournaments. DOA's scene had a problem for a long time.

Tom Brady had a summary of the whole events and how both him and perfect legend were ostracized out of the scene. All of this help fueled the perception that DOA was not a real game and that its scene should not be taken seriously. Considering how much shady shit that happened w/ Master.

Can't find the original youtube video that tom brady made. DOA had a very shady scene in the past. Much of that is cleaned up but all of that legacy still lingers on.

DOA5 is fine. People saying its not a "legit" fighter are stupid.

Yeah, I remember a lot of that drama. There was a DoA site run by a dude name Dhalsim and I think he just up and deleted all of this info and posts. lol

But you're right. DoA has a stigma attached to it, a lot of it earned, it's just frustrating to see people continuously shit on it when they probably haven't played it for more than 5 minutes.

My only exposition to the series has been what I think was the first game on PS1 and then Dimensions on 3DS, I enjoyed both, I think. I'm hyped to give the series a proper chance.

Yep, and not much you can do about it. Another problem is how doa looks visually. If you were to put DOA 5 and doa 4 up to a fgc stream viewer, they could probably barely tell you the difference in gameplay mechanics, which is a huge problem considering how bad doa4 is competitively and how much different 5 is now.

Then you add the TnA and it just compounds the problem. DOA has a lot of things going against it. Much of it stems internally.

I bought DOA5:LR on ps4 and pc but I might refund the pc version. I would of been okay with no online for a few months. No online + shit I have on PC + high system requirements? I'll get it on steam sale and play kof 98 lol.

I wish this was true in my situation. It still tries to charge me for the pack when I checkout. And it's been 2 weeks since I emailed support with no response.

LMAO at the prices for those Senran Kagura costumes. I hope the American prices are a lot lower.

Actually...is this coming out here? They only mention Japan when talking about it.

Europe? Then this won't be fixed till next year.

No, US. I purchased the Dead Or Alive 5 Ultimate - Complete DOA5 costumes which includes the Hot Getaway costume set. It only shows up as a single unlock code in the download list, and so I have the Hot Getaway costumes on PS3, but not on PS4. I'm equally as bad at both versions of the game, but I like some of the hot getaway costumes.

Wish I could help. Still waiting on my PS3 DLC costumes being active on PS4 :/

I appreciate it. I just wish support was a little more responsive. I'm about to call them. I've stopped buying any dlc for this game because of this. which worked out well, as the money i had set aside for that, bought me a nifty vita game.
