Kojima will no longer be a Konami executive from April 1st + KojiPro is no more?

On one hand, it sucks, because we won't have any hope for a Metal Gear 1&2 HD remake or the Metal Gear Solid remake Kojima would like to make. And it'll affect the development of Silent Hills, which sucks the most. And The Phantom Pain might be the last great and true to spirit Metal Gear.

On the other end, it's also somehow refreshing to see him set free, so that he can work on all those ideas he have in his head, and it's exciting to see what could be next from such a genius as him.

And no Zone of the Enders 3 by Kojima Productions.

Yet it's mostly sad at the moment. Hideo Kojima have always been my favorite developer, even when he fucked up MGS4, I'm still excited about Metal Gear Online. Konami will just be the PES Productions team to my now, and they are only just showing signs on getting back on track.

this is good news for david hayter fans.

with MGS most likely turning into a bi-annual franchise, no doubt konami will reduce the brand to a steaming pile of shit. in a celebration of this, david hayter will return to provide another sub-par performance that brain-dead fans will love.

Well darn, can't really look at the link, does this look legit or just conjecture?

IF the source is legit...then yeah it looks legit. It makes sense and fits with the Hideo Kojima name being removed from the MGS games, and it fits Kojima Productions being renamed/axed as a brand.

Shit is happening, and I don't like it one bit.

Kojima Expected to Leave Konami After MGS5, Inside Source Confirms
Key devs could leave before 2016, source claims; Senior staff made contractors; Communications block in effect.

I'm happy. Especially for him.

That way he is finally able to stop being "the Metal Gear Solid"-guy.

MGS is dead, but that's already the case for me personally. So it's actually good news.

Just saw the details..

Nevermind what I said about probably not disrespect.. *eats hat*

Along with the restricted communications, key developers at the studio, such as Hideo Kojima, will now have limited opportunities to lend their appearance to promotions of the studio’s upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

This is and the restricted acess to corporate email is really fucked up. Once Kojima leaves, Konami is pretty much dead to me. Ironically, I think we will be better served by Kojima leaving Konami than if he were to stay on. I wonder if he told them he wanted to work on something other than Metal Gear after V and Konami said no?

Guess that will be Kojima's last Metal Gear game after all.

Good luck Kojima and team. I'm sure it's not the end for them as they are some of the best pros in the business.

Hooooooly shit. I'm glad for him if it's what he wants. I'm pretty okay with this. Regardless of what I thought of the rest of the game, I liked MGS4's ending and wouldn't want the main series to go beyond that point (so please don't touch it without Kojima).
Now give me some more Rising.

What a bunch of idiots.

What a luck that Konami doesnt make good games anymore, so boycotting these assholes after MGS5 wont be to hard.

I think we can safely say this should be the end of Konami. First they ran Silent Hill into the ground and then some, now they're letting Kojima go? Fuck 'em.

The result may be beneficial for him and for fans of his work that want to see something new...But this isn't good news. The divorce is messy and could have been handled in much cleaner way.

I wanted him to leave on his own terms... I want Kojima to make any game he wants. Even if that's MGS...

This is actually a good point. We lament, but maybe this is his "Genie, you're free" moment.

Hopefully! Let's hope he can get the financial backing to do something great.

MGR 2 seems unlikely now.

Also, a lot of the big names that left studios in the past have been stuck not doing what amounts to much in the last few years. Most have done mobile stuff..

Konami unfortunately owns the name Kojima Productions, but maybe Hideo can buy that and continue producing games under that name? Overall, I find this to be a very strange decision by Konami, and wouldn't be surprised if this is the beginning of the end for them.

If this turns out to be a Platinum Games situation where Hideo creates, together with other key members of Kojima Productions, a new studio to develop new intellectual property, it would be nice. Now I wonder what will happen to Silent Hills.

2016,Kojima free agent season. Gonnabegud.gif

Gonna be anticlimactic.

He'll either form a new studio (retaining IP rights) and keeping the studio out of publisher meddling (think Respawn / Inafune), or be so burnt out by it all that he just stop making games - at least for a while. Metal Gear has been going for nearly 30 years now, remember.

He won't want publishers meddling in his business too much.

Maybe developing Metal Gear under Kojima's stewardship became unsustainable for Konami.

That's the price for working with an artist. But hey if you want to run a factory and put out a safe generic product then yeah pushing out Kojima and shutting down his studio is the way to go.

Goddamn. MGS5 better send the series out with a bang. Seems like Konami wants nothing to do with games anymore. Makes sense as most of their money comes from gambling a health clubs anyway. RIP Kojima Pro, hell of a run.
