Hideo Kojima is leaving Konami, what will happen to Silent Hills?

Rumor has it is that Kojima is leaving Konami after MGS5. That has got to affect Silent Hills development one way or another, the question is, how?

Even if the project continues to move forward it will still end up being a lesser game than what it would have been with KojiPro, a much lesser game.

Konami will give it to another director to work with Del Toro. Will it be as good as we hoped? Only time will tell

That's the 1.000.000$ question.

Maybe he will still make it for a different publisher and call it Quiet Mountains or something.

I hope Del Toro bails out after he finds out what happened to Kojima and his team.

The collaboration between those two was just too good to be true. This game could have been something truly special.

I remember Del Toro's video where he couldn't stop praising how great it is to work with Kojima.

Fucking Konami.

Our best case scenario is Kojima makes a horror game as his next project imo. I don't want to see the corpse of Silent Hill paraded around by Konami anymore.

Would DelTorro even be willing to make it without Kojima? I'm guessing he himself isn't too interested in the Silent Hill IP, but more in making something great with a legendary director.

Probably isn't cancelled, but we'll never know how it would be if Kojima made it,and this hurts more if Konami just killed it. A part of me still want to believe that Konami will do a turn back and maintain Koji for this game, but
i'm so fucking dead inside
this is just me creating expectations that will never be accomplished.

I just don't understand why Konami is so stupid.

They could search for a new MGS team while Kojima Productions works on Silent Hills. It's a win = win situation. They FINALLY have a great developer who could make this series relevant again.

Everyone loved P.T., people were so excited to see more of Silent Hills and now this shit? WTF ARE YOU DOING KONAMI???

It has to be a ruse, no company is this fucking stupid. They act like they hate money or something.

I am holding out hope that Konami will contract Kojima to do Silent Hills still but it seems like there is a lot of bad blood between the two parties so....Eesh.

Konami will try to keep it going w/o Kojima, but it will eventually die as much of KojiPro follows Kojima or goes elsewhere.

I also expect Del Toro to pull out.

I dont think even Konami knows for sure at this point.

They are saying it will still be worked on but who knows.... I bet it wasnt even going to start full development until after MGSV shipped anyway.

Here's my guess;

- Konami get a new director and continue development.
- Del Toro could bail out and Konami will still continue development.
-Koijma could still work on the game just as a freelance.
-Pull a Capcom and cancel the whole project and blame the fanbase for it.

I think the project is not dead
yet.
The members of the ex Kojipro team are very competent and they still can make it work imo.
Konami won´t stop making MG games without kojima, why would they with Silent Hill?

Silent Hills will be renamed to "The Silent Hill" - coming to PS4/XboxOne/PC/iOS/Android

The nightmare continues....

If Del Toro stays involved even with Kojima leaving I'll be at least vaguely hopeful. But development mixups like this are rarely a good sign.

All part of the K3 plan (Kill Kojima Kompletely)

People will hate me for this but i could't care less for metal gear, it ran it's course.
Silent hill on the other hand needed another good entry after so many problems and P.T finally looked to have solved all the problems....

I had this exact thought last week. The amount of buzz Kojima managed to generate around P.T. is staggering. So clearly the only logical thing to do is piss that all away.

I doubt Kojima would be ok with that.

Since Kojima is unlikely to be involved, the best way to keep the hype for it going is to assemble the remaining members of Team Silent that still work at Konami and make it clear they're leading up the project. Outsourcing as they've done with every game after SH4 would be an instant hype killer. Also, hopefully they drop The Walking Dead guy from the cast. That may be the one positive to come from Kojima's lack of involvement.

Well, my man Guillermo del Toro might still be involved. So there's that, right?

Seriously, I'm very worried. I'm a big Guillermo fan and the announcement that he would be involved in a Silent Hill game (one of my favourite franchises) was like a dream come true. He rightly described Silent Hill as a Lynchian experience. So now that one of the key players (Kojima) is likely not involved any more creates cause for concern.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens for now...
