I wish I could play an instrument. Preferably guitar, or maybe the piano. I can sing fairly well, but I can't read music or play an instrument.

I also wish I were a better cook. I'm all right, but I wish I were better. I can mostly follow recipes, but I wish I had the palate to really cook like chefs on TV.

Pretty much anything.

playing games well
coding
socializing
being creative in general

Would all be pretty nice.

Drawing. Although admittedly there's really nothing stopping me from getting good, I actually got into a bit of drawing during high school but stopped when I fell into depression.

Let's trade! (Not that I'm a spectacular writer or anything...)

It's ok, I am almost decent at drawing

Weirdly I'm the exact opposite. I'm running into the issue of finding a cover for my book and I can't draw one for shit. Makes self publishing way more expensive than it needs to be.

I would say that the stuff you write in is more important than the cover. Writing is generally more usefull than drawing. Even for art class I have to write a damn report.

I don't really have any artistic talents. Being naturally good at singing/drawing/painting or something would be cool I think.
Someone else mentioned being able to easily learn multiple languages; I think that's pretty cool too.

Playing the piano. I was content with just learning the french horn and violin as a kid against my parents' urging, both of which I also want to pick back up.

Artistic talents? Wish I could sing even mediocrely. I'm a decent guitarist and I feel like I can write songs really well but my singing talent is just horrible.

I'd love to be able to learn code, but at some point my brain just won't process things and retain it. The logic of code is great for some people, but for me it was incredibly difficult and frustrating just learning the basics.

Add in better artistic and music capabilities...I really wanna make my own game, but all I can do is come up with the idea and story.

I wish I was a good artist. Hell, even a halfway decent artist. Some of the stuff I've seen on the internet is just so good. It must feel amazing to be able to express your love for something through fanart, or to create your own world, or portray your emotions artistically. I'm baffled by how fast amazingly good fanart shows up on sites like pixiv after a game's announcement, for example. If you're talented enough, you can whip up a piece of art in a matter of hours, sometimes less.

I really envy people with artistic talent.

I know that a ton of artists hate having their skills called talent. They weren't born being able to draw or paint well, they spent hours and hours and hours and more hours to get where they are. It's a skill that anybody that's able to pick up a pencil or stylus can attain if you're willing to put in years of work.

I wish I could just play like..a dozen different songs on a piano. Or at least learn in a different way than taking lessons for years and learning to read music. Basically I want it to be easy and do little work lol.

It just seems like a big ass videogame controller to me, with 88 buttons, I don't know why I can't just memorize the buttons and then have an iPad set up with a scrolling list of buttons to press like Rock Band. I think I could get gud that way but nope, its all lessons and music theory.

I just want to play the Cheers theme at a party one night.

If you can type, then you can play piano. Problem is that a lot of piano teachers suck and make you think it's harder than it is. The best method for learning piano is to learn some basic general rules on harmony and composition, and then apply them at the keyboard to derive the music yourself.

For example, pick any key on the piano and derive a major scale using the pattern: whole-whole-half-whole-whole-whole-half; where "whole" means going up by two notes and "half" means going up by one note. Then apply the same pattern to other notes.

Next, play the major scale again, but this time number the notes 1-8 and, after you've played the scale, then play only notes 1-3-5 and play them at the same time. Boom, you've derived a major chord and can apply it to any note. You could play the chord with your left hand lower down on the piano, the scale with your right hand, and now you have some very rudimentary music.

If you want to take it one step further, play that 1-3-5 pattern on every note of the major scale, and that will give you 7 chords that are related to your original major scale. Another way to think of it is to take a major scale and, on every note of the scale, play a chord which contains the note in question, plus two more notes, those notes being every other note of the original scale. You can experiment by cycling through those chords to get some chord progressions that sound good. The great thing about it is that you can switch between those chords in your left hand and stick with the same major scale in your right hand.

Theory gets deeper from there, but it's really simple to get started. The general idea, though, is that learning and applying theory is the best way to learn to play.

Being a good artist is all about practice. Talent is overrated. If it even exist then it's no more then a jump start for the first 5% of the way.

Dancing. I think of myself as a decent actor, and an okay singer who could be good if I bothered to train myself. I don't though because I have no sense of rhythm, so why bother if musical theater requires dancing ability nowadays?

Negotiation

Everyone in my family can rally people to be on their side. I'm the only one who can't convince people.

Being able to write music seems like it'd be an incredible thing. Like just being able to come up with a catchy melody for a hit song or something.

I am a musician and never really viewed myself as having some inherent talent for it. I got good because I was very passionate about it and that passion made me very persistent.

If you want to learn to compose music, after getting a feel for basic theory I suggest picking the kind of music you like and start making covers. That's pretty much the equivalent of picking something apart and reassembling it. That way you'll also develop your hearing, your analytical skills, and just understand and be able to quantify your tastes better.

I really envy people with artistic talent.

I wish i could draw stuff. I would love to just draw stupid comics of my childhood characters that i made up.

I wish I had more artistic talent. I envy artists.

I can't draw. The way people can picture it in their head then coordinate with their hand mystifies me.

I wish I could draw.

More specifically, I wish I could make good vector graphics and other fine digital art. I'm good at composition and design, but whenever I've had to Photoshop something together, I have to work around the giant holes in my skill set.

Drawing and painting.

I wish i could draw.

I hate people who draw amazingly well and completely waste their talent.

Drawing.

Much of every other 'artistic' talent is being able to externalize what's in your head anyway, except music, but oh well.

Drawing and painting. My dad's a great artist. So are my uncles. Several other relatives, too.

I can't draw for shit.

It makes me so mad.

I wish I could draw really good. I like to come up with story ideas that often times I'd like to illustrate.

Drawing. Although admittedly there's really nothing stopping me from getting good, I actually got into a bit of drawing during high school but stopped when I fell into depression.

You guys are in luck because there's a thread for that!

More than wishing I was able to draw, I wish I was passionate about drawing. I can already kinda draw, but I'm just not passionate enough about the topic to devote that much time to it.

Play music by ear. I'm so damn jealous of people that can figure out how to play a song on piano just by listening to it.
