GTA V PC Performance Thread

Don't flip it.

Even if there isn't a profile at launch there will be one relatively close after launch. Other rockstar games have them. Rest easy.

Don't forget the press was playing in SLI.

There is SLI

Thanks, guys. My shit remains unflipped.

Can't wait; 4 more hours.

2 970's arrived today, should work well with my i7 3960x, 32g ram and SSD's. I haven't jumped on the 4k train, but I do game on 3 27" monitors.

Anyway whats the consensus on the Brazilian copies, does it open today?

Worldwide unlock.

should have gone with the SLI 980s

Never go with SLI setup. SLi is shit.

I learned that with my GTX 690.

Thanksfully the GTX 690 is very powerful without SLI too or I'll had the need to upgrade already.

Not totally disagreeing with you but SLI has gotten a lot better. Plus if if screws up, just disable one card.

I've noticed SLI with 2 separate cards usually works better than the dual GPU cards.

That's not my problem.

My problem with SLI is that Nvidias support for SLI is shit no matter if you have 2 cards or dual GPU card.

Hoping you're right.

One of the problems is also by the time Nvidia adds SLI support Im done with the game.

Gonna go ahead and agree with you. I am rocking 2x980s and am strongly considering selling them for a TitanX. Even though performance is mostly OK, frame timing and micro-stutter issues are a fucking plague and present everywhere. It's disgusting.

For GTA V Nvidia has been excellent with SLI support since the driver came out hours before the release.

Obivously, the SLI has to work though. :p

A fair point, though it is getting better in recent years.

I guess so, have not been following SLI updates for some months due to me giving up waiting for other games to support it.

It's not always just having official support, but also issues that occur across games that do have official support. Micro-stutter and frame timing issues is one of them. It just seems SLi makes everything more finicky. Also, texture flashing in plenty of games I've tried (DA:I, Witcher 2).

QFT. I love my 690, when it works, it works great. But fuck being dependent on devs to support SLI properly to make my investment worth it. Next time I get a card I'm just going to go with the single GPU instead. So much less hassle.

I wouldn't recommend using SLI unless you know what you're doing.

I rarely had issues using SLI, even in unsupported games, when I was running 560 ti's. Generally, just use common sense when forcing SLI profiles in Inspector, but you can find some random ones if you are willing to test several out.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
Yeah, I know, that's why I pointed out that specific version that includes an Automatic Setup that detects what DX or OGL version the selected game needs and rename the files. You will be happy ;)

If I still have trouble, I'm going to disappointed. :p

I fucking love eye-crossing stereoscopic 3D stuff like this. How on earth do you make them though? Like if I gave you a random image you could do it?

Rise and shine, Rockstar Games. Rise and... shine. Not that I... wish to imply you have been sleeping on the job. No one is more deserving of a rest, and all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until... well, let's just say your hour has... come again. The right game on pc make all the difference in the world. So, wake up, Rockstar Games. Wake up and... release your game...

Can't wait to see what this does to my 750Ti.

I'm temporarily rocking the non TI version until the 980ti (or equivalent) and 390x show up.

You could technically do it with any image, its just some are significantly tougher than others.

For this example, I found a transparent image of the three main characters, then I cut them out into individual pieces, and organized both sides for appropriate depth. The closer to the center the two images are offset, the more in screen depth they'll have. Moving them in the opposite direction, the more out of screen pop out depth they'll have. Once the characters were at the right depth, I just threw the background image in, and shifted it so that when it overlapped it would look like a background rather than screen depth. If you notice, the background image itself doesn't actually have any depth in it, it's just lined up in such a way that it appears as a flat backdrop.

Basically, with cutouts its pretty easy to do. If you were to just give a flat, compex image it would be really tough.

I'm watching you regarding the perf. Then I might bite the bullet. For the third time.

I don't know if this has posted(apologies in advance)or how accurate it is, but I jacked this from reddit

My first language is French. Here are the key points:
People expected the PC version to be graphically superior to the PS4/Xbox One version, but nobody expected to be so blown away with such a staggering difference.

It's not a Ubisoft-style quick port of the console version, it's been reworked thoroughly to offer an unmatched experience on PC.

They felt like it was designed with bourgeois (very high-end) computers in mind, but there are a lot of graphics options to make sure it runs on just about any hardware.

Runs "perfectly" on older hardware (Core 2 Duo + 9800GT). No mention of which settings or resolution though.

FOV is greatly increased compared to the PS4/Xbox One version (which was increased compared to the PS3/360 version). For instance, he could see the whole map when jumping in parachute, without a tiny bit of aliasing.

No element pop-up or clipping, unlike the console versions.

New lighting system with different light diffraction

Some places were radically redesigned, for instance the Playboy Mansion's pool which used to be a rectangle and is now a wild river, complete with a stream a cave.

Supports 3D and dual/triple monitors.

Supports the PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers natively.

GTA Online supports up to 30 players + 2 spectators.

New radio station "The Lab FM" with completely new tracks. "Self radio" station allows list to your own MP3s.

Rockstar Editor offers manual recording, but also always keeps a buffer of the last 30 seconds.

Rockstar Editor offers plenty of options for editing, such as camera angles, transitions, blurs, DOF, lighting saturation. You can also add sounds including all audio files from the game itself (including sound effects, music and dialogs).

"Director Mode" allows to change the time of the day, weather, pedestrian/car traffic density. You can be any character (human or animal) and you can teleport.
