BF4? what's so "terrible" about it? it's pretty great now since they fixed the netcode.

No one but EA is to blame for the starting problems Battlefield 4 had, they just wanted to rush the game out so they can compete with Call of Duty.

Not really fair to blame it on the very talented people at DICE who did everything to fix the game even after months of fixes and patches they still work on stuff to make the game better.

Yeah. DICE is good in my book. They did right by the fans and are still supporting the game. Not many devs do that.

Thats not lying. Scene is identical except for some wires.

You clearly didnt watch them either. I evdn timestamped them to start at identical times. If you had watched them youd see the difference is is almost as big as what you find comparing a recent multiplatform title on pc and the gen 7 consoles

why does it look funny that the rebels are wearing reg long sleeve shirts with a style circa 1970's. Still cant wait, gonna buy everything~!

So what. They were making this game. It still shows that they are committed to the games they make and will support them as a company. If you are mad, be mad at EA.

The fact that they released 9+ patches, each failing to fix the issues specified in the patch notes and improving absolutelty nothing over the launch state of the title before throwing in the towel shows nothing except incompetence

So you don't actually play bf4 then. Because this is a bs post.

no you clearly dont play bf4, because thats exactly what happened during the first 2 months of bf4s launch. dice sweden releasing patch after patch that fixed nothing. hell, most of them introduced more problems.

Uhm yes they did. The first months of battlefield 4's "road to be fixd" was done by Dice SWEDEN. Dice LA came in later.

yeah during that entire "road to fixing bf4" the game was unplayable shit. funny you should mention rubber banding and naval strike, because when they released naval strike the rubber banding was worse than ever. it didnt get fixed for months and months until dice LA came in.

They supported the game up until Naval Strike hit and fixed the rubberbanding before support transitioned over to DICE LA who have fixed the netcode and have done a fantastic job.

I watched them. What exactly is the difference? Except for those wires and slightly changed lighting, which is something normal when You are comparison versions like alpha and release, i dont see the difference.
Same particle lighting, same bokeh, same animations, same geometry. Effects are slightly different, but thats quite normal.

You are all over the place. First you say dice swe didn't work on it post launch, now you are saying they did and didn't fix anything. Yeah I played the game at launch and it was crap, but every patch the game got better, they needed to work on BF thus moving the support for bf4 to another team. As a company the way they have handled bf4 is fantastic post launch. Let's see how BF turns out before getting your panties in bunch.

can you imagine how bad it would have been if DRM was actually praised and accepted the way EA access is? EA access is a huge win for EA because they are racking up passive cash from the sub and then getting follow up cash from the game purchases.

Well they lose money on my subscription...

how can someone who considers themselves a follower of technical graphics post this nonsense? lighting, particles, reflections.....seriously?

"Dice sweden, the developrs of battlefront, didnt do shit to fix anything in bf4."

thats what i said. nothing in bf4 got fixed until the first cte patch hit retail.

You still didnt write what is different.

To be fair, i cant watch it in on full screen as i'm at work, but still it is a youtube video.

the only difference is the lack of ssr, which was implemented in hardline

For me, every Patch from DICE SWEDEN improved the game for me. Not sure what you played.

And dont come with the but but the campaign wasnt fixd, who cares about the campaign. (and i played trough the campaign twice without any issues)

I dont see SSR in this footage, just cubemaps and speculars. I'll download gamersyde video at home to be more sure. Quality of this yt footage is terrible.

The floor is not wet in final version as in preview, so there are almost no reflections. The reflections doesnt seems different from the one from night, rainy level.

I put 700 hours in BF4 and I'm still playing it.

Campaign should have fixed, they spent all those resources on it, they should have fixed it.

And they hid mp collectibles behind the campaign too.

But, Icecold is wrong, the patches did help. Each one helping incrementally.

Yes BF4 was trash around launch for months, because of several failures. Can we stay on topic and avoid retreding tired issues everyone knows about.

It'll be interesting to see what they can do with Frostbite on current gen only hardware. Hoping for a solid campaign with Battlefront.

i was just guessing, I only saw the original footage back when it aired during the xbox conference. thought it was ssr.

Its ssr, all the fake bf4 footage they demoed up to launch had ssr.

Clearly people dont know, otherwise this debate wouldnt be happening

In the same respect though, an this is from someone who is pro-Sony, theres nothing to say they might not do the same thing when Playstation Now takes off. Offering exclusive incentives for playing the game through their streaming service. I am very anti-"games as a service" as well as online only titles because im a collector. I like to be able to go back an play games 5, 10 years down the road. I still pick up Dragon Quest VIII and Final Fantasy VII time after time because theyre that good. Hopefully SWBF turns out that way too, but if track record has shown us anything in recent years, its best to remain skeptical.
I'm not a fan of PSNow for the same reason. Though it isn't as bad as EA Access because PSNOW is all old games, wherein EA Access is new games.

I'm afraid that if Sony ever gives in we might see stuff like "please purchase EA Access to progress past level 25 in multiplayer" or EA Access exclusive DLC or other content.

The two solders are passing the wet surface before opening the door and they do not reflects. The boxes near the wall also dont reflect. I need better footage, but i didnt see any reflections on the ground from dynamic objects.

I'd be more worried about Ubisoft, Activision, and the like making their own services and then in the future making said games exclusive to those services.

Ssr can be applied to reflect static surfaces only. If its indeed cubemaps its even more of a slap in the face as it means they went and manually hand placed many individual cube maps to bullshit up the footage

It would be cool if you could board an AT AT like Luke did in ESB, but be lucky you don't get shot on the way up, fight your way through to the head and other areas to destroy the AT AT. A part of Battlefront Rush.

Rush would be the perfect mode for Hoth / Endor / Death Star Trench / Yavin 4 with the shield generators... They probably already have that I would assume though.

Right, as someone who has never played Star Wars Battlefront games before. What am I to expect?

Is it going to be an almost BF game with a Star Wars skin? Or is it historically a very different game to BF?

It has historically been an almost BF game with a Star Wars setting.

I completely forgot about Galactic Conquest. That would be an awesome third mode for to have in addition to campaign and MP, and I wouldn't think it would require a ton of work on DICE's end to implement (it was just the normal maps with bots and the galactic map strategy bits, right? Unless I'm remembering wrong.)

Nope, that's pretty much it. Seize command points or annihilate the enemy force to claim victory.

Each planet has a planetary bonus you can choose (Naboo's unit regen being my particular favorite) if you control the planet, and each planet has basically three states:

Controlled by you
Controlled by no one
Controlled by the enemy

Each victory on the map moves it one direction or the other, when you control every planet you can attack the "home world" of the faction. Win there and game over!

Love it so much.

Using SSR for static surfaces is counter productive, because cost of SSR is static per scene. You basically have to cast rays everywhere and then You cull out dynamic geometry and leave static? It doesnt make sense. And it is more expensive and lower quality than cubemaps.

The art direction of scenes changes. I can agree that preview versions looks better, but its not the first time when artists decided to change scenes from better to worse.
It uses the same reflections as here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Rgwf-Xu-FoE#t=1645
But they eliminated wetness of the floor in the final game, for worse of course.

So I'm guessing the top left portion of the image will be next, followed by the centerpiece face mask finale?
