NPD Sales Results for March 2015 [Up1: Nintendo numbers, PS4 placing]

Mario Party selling so well is no surprise at all. The series has always done huge numbers. Good for Nintendo, but also sad it'll outperform instant classics like Tropical Freeze and Pikmin 3 by a large margin.

Opening better than MP9 (wii) is still a bit a surprising though. Even with franchise fatigue.

...I'm going to check release years.

EDIT:
NA
MP9: March 11, 2012
MP8 (Wii): May 29, 2007
MP7 (GC): November 7, 2005
MP6 (GC): December 6, 2004

There was five years betwen Mario Parties on the Wii? Maybe there's less fatigue than I thought.

Man I miss martabak.

I have to describe it as "Indonesian pancakes" to my non-SEAsian friends and coworkers.

I especially miss the thin variety of the terang bulan:

There's a store near my home that sells the regular fat variety but I can't find any store that sells the thin variety.

Hardline sold better on PS4? That's actually kinda surprising, didn't Battlefield traditionally sell better on Playstation last gen? Or am I remembering wrong?

Apparently, Hardline sold better on the Xbone in North America as a retail title. Worldwide, however, totally not the case. No idea on digital versions either.

Well Bf Hardline taught me something this month. Battlefront is gonna sell even more than I thought. Nothing will touch it this holiday and I'm pretty sure sony won't bother with any big exclusives.... Battlefront may be one of the best selling games ever with movie trailers dumping at same time

About ~389K according to creamsugar.
LOL, and people said last thread that it wouldn't even do 300k and might do even worse than 1886.

Really depends on which area you live in Indonesia, some call it martabak, some call it terang bulan. Ah the thin one...usually that franchise Holland sells em here...wait this is NPD thread, why are we talking about food here? Lol

great numbers for Bloodborne, really love that game

Think it could potentially outsell Call of Duty? Not including the last gen versions at least

Is it me or are the PS4 numbers kind of disappointing? An extra week on market, Bloodborne releasing and loads of good trade in deals and it just barely matched February numbers?

Mario Party fatigue never really happened. The series has always been a million-seller. In fact, Mario Party 8 is by far the best-selling one at 8 million. The fact that it took them five years to make another one after that is actually surprising... Or maybe not so much when you consider what happened to Hudson between those two games.

March sales are normally lower even with one extra week. February is stronger because of tax return.

Regarding Battlefield console series, I think that might depend on who markets it. What seems to happen is that one console maker supports one brand (like COD) while the other console maker publicly supports a rival brand (Battlefield). Then again, this is just what I've observed from E3 over the past 5 or so years.

I'm from an area that is represented by a shark fighting a crocodile. :p

Street food in SEA is glorious. Soto ayam and ayam goreng especially.

MS marketed Battlefield 4, but didn't Sony market Hardline?

Also I'm weirdly impressed by 21% of Type-0 being Xbox, I was expecting something more like 10-15%, lol. Any actual numbers for it?

I believe it will outsell this cod this year unless they do something smart and remaster cod4 and include it with this year's version... So yes I think Bf will win Activision would never

It really didn't happen....weird.

Why did MP9 bomb respectively though? 5 years later and it did 2.24 million by Sept 2012 (so maybe we can bump it near 2.5 or 3?) million according to wikipedia. Wiki's source is finanical Nintendo briefing.

Drop off in Wii sales by the time it released.

According to these numbers, it sold 3.11 million. That's still really good and better than your average Mario Party. It was released later on in the Wii's life though, so that might the reason for the decline there.

Call of Duty is falling but remains a very strong franchise and split will be more favorable to next gen this time.

Battlefront is out of the market for several years. I know will have movie hype, but outsell CoD is very difficult.

oh yeah. duh

Also I'd argue that the reason MP8 did so well is because it released in that period of time when the Wii was selling bonkers. Had it released on the Gamecube or something then I'm guessing there would have been a legitimate decline due to oversaturation.

It's midnight here and you guys are posting food? ;_;

Yesh. Because why not? :p

Western Uni aged males tend love all food. Total trash compactors\black holes :D

Oh man, I was in Seoul for about a week visiting some childhood friends and Dunkin Donuts is apparently still alive over there. When we went into one of those Dunkin Donut stores, it was full of girls/women and they were all looking at us guys as if we had just stepped into their sacred territory. Since me and my friends were all conversing in English (we went to the same American international school in Indonesia), the girls/women decided to treat us as tourists, even though my friends were Korean. The women there were devouring a huge amount of donuts. Me and my friends only ordered something like 3 donuts each whereas the women were stacking their donuts and cakes at least twice the amount that each of us had ordered.

I thought it was the other way around? I distinctly remembered COD Ghost being on Microsoft's E3 2013 presentation.

Surabaya eh? :p
i'm from the middle of the K shape island next to Borneo lol..small city

My father and my uncle are from Sulawesi. Probably the same city as you.

Xbox One will have Halo 5 and Black Ops 3 (CoD is more Xbox oriented) so I think Battlefront will be the third option here.

In that sense is smart to advertising for PS4.

Lol Fridays at work we bring in donuts. I eat 3-6 before having a nice large lunch. I still have my Highschool/Uni metabolism at 28 though. I'm so going to be fat when that ends with how I eat...

My office brings in donuts and bagels every other Wednesday. I usually grab two donuts and 2-3 bagels for breakfast.

I occasionally bring in snacks to my office as well, usually the fat terang bulans but also crackers and cookies.

That reminds me, I miss eating krupuk and gado gado.

I'm almost 31 and my metabolism hasn't really kept up in the past decade. :p
