Was never a Playstation guy until a couple years ago, so I missed out on the PSP. However I do have a Vita. I feel like I've got so many options of things to play since I now have access to so many PSP and PSone games that I never tried back in the day.

So, what are the must have PSP games that are available for download on Vita?
I REALLY wanted to try Phantasy Star Portable 2... too bad it's not on the PSN store.

Ys Seven is a good choice, as well as Ys: The Oath in Felghana (available on Steam too).

Edit: I'm seeing some Brandish recommendations here and I completely agree. It's really awesome!

You should definitely try out The Warriors. It's actually on sale as part of the US Flash Sale that'll end tomorrow. I got the game last year and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's one of the well made ports on the psp,and plays nice on the Vita.

EDIT: beaten

Resistance retribution is also a pretty good game. A little on the high side in terms of price but a really solid game.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
GTA games, especially VCS
Resistance Retribution (one of my favourites)
Ratchet & Clank Size Matters
Daxter
God of War games (available in HD on PS3 though)
Star Wars "Squadron" games (not sure if online is still active, still would say that botzone is worth it)
The Warriors

I realize you said you got it already, but I just wanted to post this. I had no idea there was a PSP port of The Warriors until this thread, so I'm pretty pumped.

Zettai Hero Project!

Really fun little rogue-like with a silly story! You pretty much take the place of a fallen hero and die and level repeatedly to get on the level of the final boss which you fight multiple times. When you fight Darkdeath the first time you get a NES RPG style battle since you're so weak and as you progress going through areas you get improved graphics and attacks upon rematches.

Are these Battlefront games? They are on the PSN store, but not playable on Vita.

Yep, thought they are Vita compatible, at least in EU.

Checked and for some weird reason Renegade Squadron is only compatible with PSP, BF2 and Elite Squadron are on Vita.

Already mentioned, but "Zettai Hero Project" and "Prinny: Can I really be the hero?" are the best games NIS has ever put out.

Yggdra Union and Riviera the promised land are quite good annnnnnddd I also liked Megaman maverick hunter X and the Dissidia franchise.

ALSO I GREATLY SUPPORT YS SEVEN!

Sting's Knights in the Knightmare and 2 localised Union games.

Growlancer Wayfairer of Time (If you enjoy PS1 era JRPGs)

Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice (a quirky Chase HQ style racer with PS1 style TPS segments.)

Gladiator Begins (awesome gladiator game that still holds up)
eye of judgement (great card game, even better on psp than ps3)
The Warriors (on sale now)
Jeanne d'arc (best entry level srpg imo)
Tactics Ogre
too many jrpgs to mention -- absolutely tons of them
yggdra union
zhp unlosing ranger
various gta entries
disgaea series
Valkria Chronicles 2

that's off the top of my head. psp has an insane library. between vita, psp, and ps1 games your vita is one of your best investments of all time.

So Elite Squadron is playable on Vita in EU only? Booo.

I REALLY wanted to try Phantasy Star Portable 2... too bad it's not on the PSN store.

It's not even on the Japanese PSN Vita Store (aka incompatible) back then. AND they actually removed PSPo2i on all store front a year or two ago. There's no hope for this.

I still regret not getting it on the final sale and transfer it during that time they allowed all PSP games to be downloadable to Vita.

Idk how many of these work on vita but they are the best games I played on my psp:

Hot shots tennis (everybody's tennis in the US I think) : amazingly fun tennis game

Patapon 1-2

Ys: 7 (awesome action rpg with super fun bossfights)

Jeanne d'arc : a good first srpg if you're new to the genre

any of the disgaea games

These are all 10/10 games imo

The very first day the Vita launched, PSP2 was downloadable on the Vita. I remember thinking, "that's cool, but I only got 8GB and I want to get Uncharted."

So much regret. :(

OP, Ace Combat: Joint Assault's not a bad one, and I think you could probably map yaw control to the right stick (I think it was D-pad left and right on the PSP).

Edit: Valkyria Chronicles 2 is a must.

I looked for Jeanne D'Arc yesterday but it's not on the EU store from what I could tell. Not through the vita anyway, let me check the web store...nope.
