At this point, reading this thread, it feels like people just want to see blood, no matter what happens. Sony and Evolution fucked up and it's the perfect opportunity for people to shit on them as much as possible.
Or people genuinely think this whole situation is a real problem and are angry that after all this time it still hasn't been resolved and Sony/Evolution are failing to communicate at all with fans and consumers as to the status of this fucked up botched launch. So either their servers are complete shit or they've been deceptive or they're horrendous at communication. At this point, none are particularly good outcomes and all make Sony look bad. And they've earned that in this case.
I am all for people getting what Sony promised them, at the same time it's sometimes hard for me to grasp the outrage of people over a glorified demo that had a fraction of the game's content. I mean if we were talking about the full version of the game, I would certainly understand just how upset some people in here seem to be.
It's not a glorified demo. But reduce the idea however you want (as if that changes the problem?), it doesn't change the fact that obligations need to be met on a service when you promise certain features. The company doesn't get to arbitrarily decide never to deliver on the feature without rightfully taking tons of shit for it, nor is trying to diminish the value of the feature a viable outlook on the problem here.
I mean some people seriously still think Sony/Evo intenionally didn't release the game "because they should have kept their goddamn mouth shut and not made promises if they had no intention of fulfilling their duties" when the PSN+ version was actually accidently available for a short time before getting taken down.
If you're going to quote me, do it by name and refrain from pulling shit out of context whilst fundamentally misunderstanding the entire point.
My comment was not about that Sony/Evo "intentionally" didn't release the PS+ game (although they DID intentionally not release the PS+ game due to 'server problems', so I'm not sure
what bizarre shit you're going on about here. Are you saying they unintentionally delayed the game? That'd be a pretty easy fix then!), but that if hypothetically they had no intention of fulfilling their promises then they should not have made those promises in the first place. The point being that Rapier and Sony have no right to diminish the anger people feel over a promise not being fulfilled yet after over a hundred days.
This thread is also basically the shit pit for everyone who just likes to do some drive by posting or make some fun of Sony/Evo. I wish this thread was updated with what's actually happening in the last months:
Driveclub is one of my favorite racing games of the past ten years. Sony/Evo fucked up, they made promises, they're horrendous at communication and they have yet to fulfill their obligations. Until they at the very least begin to open up the channels of communication again and let consumers know what is going on with the promise made, all anger aimed in that direction is warranted. Because it's their fault that people are in the dark when they have confused messaging which one day
says the PS+ version may never see the light of day and then the very next day says
no it's definitely still coming, we're working on it! It's their fault people remain justifiably angry.
