GAF, I think I might be addicted to tacos.

I've kind of accepted the fact that every post involving tacos is going to have drive by flaming of "Americanized" stuff, but what's wrong with Lime and Cilantro?

Meh, tacos ain't for me.

I've always wanted to try Popeyes biscuits and spicy chicken, though.

And the double-double with grilled mustard mushrooms/onions or whatever.

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

The funny thing about "Americanized" tacos are that they are usually more expensive than the authentic tacos.

But, unlike most of the other food threads, this one is actually about tacos
Doesn't mean that meme isn't played out.

Edit: why did you just post a picture of Robert Palmer? I get that he mentioned him, I just don't understand what the picture is trying to accomplish.

Don't know whats up with the Lime fellow, but the cilantro thing is understandable since it does taste like soap to some unlucky mutants.

I make tacos almost every week for my cheat meal. It hasn't gotten old and I've been doing it for over a year. Just can't get enough although I miss the cheese blasted shells that they tested a few months back.

get that lime out of there...
Dude... You put lime on the tacos.

Tortilla
The Meat
Homemade Green Salsa
Homemade Hot Salsa
Cilantro
Chopped Onions
Beans
And Lime

This is how a taco is done folks. Of course if you don't like something you don't put it.

Dude lives in Ohio.

So? I live in WV, been to Taco Haven 6 times. For some reason, karma/fate has seen fit to send me to San Antonio a number of times. I make the best of it. Point being, if the OP wants proper tacos, there will have to be a road trip (or bus, or plane) to a place where they're made. Doesn't have to be San Antonio, it just happens there's a place there I can wholeheartedly recommend.

Here's another option, a little more upscale compared to Taco Haven. Each has its merits.

Picante Grill
3810 Broadway
San Antonio TX 78209.

It's a nice place to visit for an afternoon. Living there is another story. :(

Based on my experience, 100% agree. Longest I've spent there at once is a week. It was enough. But if you've never been, a tour of the Spanish missions and the food at certain restaurants is enough to make the trip worth it.

Or as I just posted above, find some in his hometown.

There's a nice hidden gem in Ridgeland, MS that me and my buddies frequent once a week. Menu is in Spanish and the only person that speaks English in the restaurant is the owner's wife.
Can't go wrong with some Al Pastor taco's for $2 a pop.

Some may find this disgusting... others... heaven

The TB where I live has gone down hill significantly these past few years. It's a shame since I used to go there a lot like you too.

Went to a taco shop in Mexico. Where you literally could choose from 20 different types of tacos. Best tacos I ever had. And on Tuesday was 2 for 1. I miss mexicos tacos.

O_O OMG I live like 5 minutes away from this place. I am totally going there sometime this week. Thank you!

Of course, update this thread after you have tried some. My suggestions would to at least try al pastor, carne asada, a chicken and maybe a chorizo tacos.

Colorado has a great place called tatas. Lol, anyway about tortillas. My wife's mom showed me how to make awesome tortillas. Love em.
