No the gameplay looks intriguing no doubt, I was talking strictly from a character design standpoint. I just hope from a gameplay standpoint that they take the old style of gameplay and update parts of it for modern gaming. Finding that balance is tough sometimes for these retro style games.

They're pretty cute. Not as immediately appealing as Banjo and Kazooie were, but I'll take them.

Has the genders even been specified? They could both be female for all we know. The designs are rather androgynous. I mean, would you know Kazooie was a girl if it wasn't stated?

I dunno man, I feel like it works well for this just because of the flatout similarity to the uniqueness of Banjo-Kazooie's name. I mean, a poster in this thread already looked in, knowing nothing about the project just because he saw the title and wondered if it had anything to do with BK. I'm pretty sure that's exactly what Playtonic are trying to achieve with the name here.

Only change I'd recommend is make the collectibles more memorable like the music notes, etc., in Banjo-Kazooie. It's possible those are just placeholder items, so hopefully they'll make them more interesting than coins.
I thought the characters looked a tad plain at first glance, but they look GREAT in the gameplay footage. Their color schemes really pop in the lighting engine. Strong silhouettes, too, like the way Laylee spreads his wings while barrel-rolling on Yooka.
I know I keep praising the barrel-rolling, but I am STOKED they translated DKCR's best move into 3D.
