Four Titan X cards just to run that technology demo...

We've still got such a loooong long road ahead of us.

Holy O_O Looks amazing, I second what Durante said, give us a benchmark please or atleast an uncompressed video of this.

Seeing this I can't wait to see what SE is going to show us this E3. Guess my console purchase of FFXV will be canceled and I'm going to wait for a PC version.

Because they know people will double dip later on after they've spent their $60 at retail.

$120 for a lot of idiots like myself who gladly bought a $60 remaster they didn't even play for a demo.

And if they charge for a PC demo, I'll buy it too.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I know I shouldn't, I know it's bad for the industry or whatever, but it's just been too fucking long. I'm honestly impressed I even care after so many years, but since I do, I don't give a shit how expensive it is.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
This isn't really accurate. Visual Works is the evolution of the CG staff which was always based in Japan. From the FFVII days onwards. Square Pictures was something else entirely, set up specifically to make the FF:TSW motion picture. They hired extensively from Hollywood. Square Pictures was never involved with creating CG for games. Even as FF:TSW was in production, the Japanese CG staff made the FMVs for FFIX, FFX, etc.

Really appreciate the correction duckroll.

I know I can always count on you. The technology developed for Final Fantasy: A Spirit Within though, was it then fully-integrated in Visual Works shortly after its dissolve?

Looks stunning, but four titans for a tech demo? Guess we aren't seeing this fidelity in-game for a while...

Will be interesting to see how close they can reach that target when they optimize it for an actual game.

Square Enix can't release a tech demo of anything without people thinking it's going to be their next Final Fantasy game.

Then they should stop making tech demos that are more interesting and fascinating and original than the games they actually do give us.

Is this like when people say "if black boxes survive airplane crashes why don't they make the entire airplane out of black box stuff!?"

This is seriously amazing for something running in real time, even on 4 Titans.

Impressive, but entirely impractical in the near future.

There was some interview comparing FFXV and Agni's philosophy in the Luminous engine. Essentially the message was that while Agni could run real time on even the ps4 the assets were totally unsuitable for a game and that attempting any game with that fidelity was well beyond the realm of feasibility any time soon.

That hair is really well done.

Well, yeah. If you have an "unlimited" polygon budget for hair, you'd expect that to be the case.

You know, I'm honestly not sure what happened to the "technology" as far as Square Pictures is concerned. I'm not even sure if the studio was ever viewed as an asset in that aspect by the parent company, as opposed to a business venture into Hollywood production/distribution. Maybe someone else knows more about this?

Still looks more interesting than Versus to me. Really really hope we gonna see something useful (game) come out of this at some point. (99.9% chance it won't happen)

I know just enough to not ask further because it's a bad idea. If that helps.

Glad we're still seeing something of Agni's Philosophy, and I still hope it turns into something in the future. That presentation at E3 was one of the most intriguing things I've seen from SE in a long time.

AO when she put hand on her face was amazing, but generally shadow quality was quite poor.

Everything else, maybe except for DoF blending, was exceptional, especially shaders.

This is the type of tech that's usually researched for future generations way in advance and to see if they can bring anything back at a lower quality level to current consoles.
