The Witcher 3 PS4 gameplay

Looks properly beautiful.

Still going to double-dip on PC and PS4. Then realize that my PC cannot run it at maximum settings and 1440p. And play everything on PS4.

But this effect isn't in the game now, and it sucks :(

What about this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fihCd2M9ZwM&t=8m5s

He never uses the same spell as in the gif, but certain things cause ripples. It's in the game.

Looks like they have a set number of trees allowed to be rendered and when it reaches the limit it gets rid of other ones... though being that close to the camera is a bit jarring

Pretty sure anything blocking the camera is removed from view. That's what you're seeing there.

EDIT: beaten by many, many people

Cant watch right now, how does it look? Better than expected

EDIT: Nice hair physics I thought they werent suppose to be in the ps4 version, unless its a static animation

Wow.... This is honestly looking much better than what I was expecting. I was getting really worried about how it would look.... this looks simply amazing.

SHOCKING. You have a problem with the footage.

I actually meant to say the opposite. Brain fart -> It's more noticeable in the footage, when watching than when playing.

Also, noticing issues with the footage that are plain for anyone to see is not some fanboy thing. Specially when you pick only one of my posts on the vidoe so far to attack me with.

Expecting everyone to NOT have issues with the footage because it's from the holy PS4 IS a fanboy thing.

SHOCKING that you are accusing others of being fanboys, when it's you who's the one acting like one.

Shame, I really liked that effect. I think they toned the effect down because even in this gameplay from few months ago it looked different https://youtu.be/tuPEam_Jt4I?t=5m23s
Um, I'm pretty sure what we see in the old gif is an upgraded Aard. You upgrade the Sign so that it can cast up to 360 degrees in the first game, and I imagine the same is true for 2nd and 3rd.

In fact, now that I think about it, I recall seeing a 360 degree Aard in some recent Wild Hunt footage. So, it's in.

Still have to finish The Witcher 2 -_-
I'm almost done with the first game, then I'll have to get started on 2. :p

I have PS4 and just built a 4690k/GTX970 box. Without this being about digital phallus size, am I correct in assuming the my PC is the correct version for me in this case?

Man, I'm going to cut off so many heads. Do we know if there's a specific thing that triggers it, or does it just happen randomly?

A critical hit/instakill can do it or like in that gif if it's the last enemy it will do a finisher, some of which are decapitations.

you are correct

Super excited to play my first Witcher. Just beat Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2 so it will be nice going to a land that is colorful and sunny, lol.

I think the most impressive thing is that there are no load screens (for the most part) I mean, shit, in Skyrim, half the game was load screens. This is going to be a fantastic game to romp through.

Youre overall negativity is well documented in other witcher 3 threads, pal. Not sure how you got fanboyism out of me calling you out, but sure. You have an overall nasty approach to everything the witcher that I've noticed. Just pointing it out.

I love everything except the movement of the trees. Seems way off and jarring.

I like it a lot actually, though a few here and there seem to be bending way too much compared to other nearby trees. Like they're being affected by hurricane like winds, while the others just have a gentle breeze blowing on it.

Overall, it gives the forest a touch of liveliness, instead of last gen trees that never moved, or only had leaves moving ehre and there.

But yeah I think it needs to be tweaked a bit.

I believe it triggers automatically against the last man standing. For anyone else you either have to stun them or deplete their stamina. Sword tree also has a charge attack that has a chance of cutting someone in half.

Lol, what? My avatar not a clue as to how much of a fan I am? I'm not a blind fanboy though. If I am critical of the game (And I don't think I have been), it's because I love it, and I want it to be the best it can be.

For me, yeah. Much less pop-in that I was expecting based on other open-world games on PS4 so far this gen, and much denser foliage than I was expecting. I'm very impressed....and fucking HYPED. :D

You have so much more horsepower under that hood when compared to the PS4 that at first I thought this was a jokepost lol.

Of course PC is the way to go my friend. But you wouldn't be left out in the rain if you chose the PS4 though :D.

That's the normal hair. It doesn't look too bad at all actyallu, just very polygon-y - like usual video game hair. It definitely looks like it's being acted on by physics though, and it's not just one whole mesh, there's little mesh strands around, so it sells it well.

Hairworks version is on another level though.

I completely understand. I think all of us on here are wanting the same thing. Just the stuff you point out won't take away from the overall product and its hard to be so critical when the game hasnt been out yet. Especially all the youtuber video that was from an older build.

Im just saying to try and look at it from a glass half full perspective and not so much the glass half empty approach.

On another note: Im just hoping the xbone version of this game will look as promising as the ps4 footage looks. Still not sure why microsoft has yet to show any actual xbox footage when they posted the pc info

Is that really an irrational suspicion?

Yeah, I mean, they were developing the game with consoles in mind. And yet, It looks like they went that extra mile for PC in terms of adding some nice effects on top for more powerful hardware.

Let's wait for Digital foundry and for us to actually get the game in our hands before proclaiming the game dumbed down.

Framerate looks good (from what i can tell), i am quiet interested to get some better side-by-side comparison once the game is out. We already know that the framerate is a big differentiator, I am curious what graphical settings the consoles are running at.

Oh, it's totally nit picks. It's al we got right now. Even if I'm nit picking this or that, it's never to the levels of: "So the game sucks 'cause pop-in".
