I almost have a hard time believing there are such multi-talents out there. Being good at art, coding AND music? It almost seems unfair.

Circle of the Moon was pretty good, but after SotN it felt like a let down. Graphics were not as smooth, the music was good, but mostly (if not all) reused tunes from other games, and the controls weren't as fluid. I would be ok with that level of quality for this though, but I'm hoping for better.

This is completely WRONG.

Personally, I think SotN's soundtrack is a bit overrated. Sometimes I like to believe people think of it fondly because of the damn I am the Wind song.

that's the one song I don't give a fuck about to the point I forget it even exists and SotN's soundtrack is still god-tier to me

I have such fond memories of Harmony of Despair. I know it's the odd one, but I had so much damn fun running around with other players in those huge HD stages and getting awesome loot.

It is one of those games I always imagined making if I could code, and damn, Tom Happ felt the same and could actually accomplish this.

When the credit rolled, I tried to imagine what the game would look like if I developed it. The result of that was kind of frustrating, honestly. :p I could probably try all my life and yet I still wouldn't be able to make a game that looks so good, sounds so good and yet also brings interesting and creative ideas to the table. Actually, a I could code a game but it would probably collapse into itself as soon as someone starts playing. :)

Your words are as empty as your soul

Seriously tho, it might not be for everyone but I would never call it overrated.
It's overrated because apparently a lot of people rate it very highly. Personally, the SotN soundtrack has too much organ/choir wankery and not enough symphonic metal. I believe there are no electric guitars at all? I don't really listen to the soundtrack anymore.

Actually I was wrong on the Circle of the Moon thing
Tracks 1, 16: from Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (PCE)
Tracks 2, 8: from Castlevania 64 (N64)
Tracks 3, 6: from Castlevania: Bloodlines (MD)
Tracks 7, 11, 13, 14: from Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (FC)
Tracks 9, 12: from Super Castlevania IV (SFC)
Tracks 15: from Castlevania (FC)
Yeah, basically the entire soundtrack except Nathan's theme is remixes lol

What a horrible morning to eat crow
EDIT - Beaten

There are guitars in Tragic Prince

Uh... so it needs metal to not be overrated? Also it has metal.

Is this a bad thing? I'm not educated in the matter.

Some people don't like Inti's work on Mighty Number 9.

Generally though, I'd say it's pretty much the best team we could have hoped for. Can't think of many other Japanese companies that IGA could have potentially hired to make his game. IntiCreates is definitely rock solid and extremely experienced.

Not metal per se, but it should at least have catchy melodies. The tracks in SotN are certainly well-produced and excellently composed, but I don't find any of the tracks exceptionally catchy.

Okay, so the bit that it doesn't have guitars is false. Festival of Servants sounds great!

I think I know what you mean. They all sound great, but if you had played the other games they didn't exactly sound "Castlevania". The tune in SotN that I think is the most "Castlevania" is probably Marble Gallery.

They are all catchy.

Do you know what's not catchy? Lords of Shadow.

I think most of it is catchy and I certainly don't think that Castlevania shouldn't have its atmospheric and gothic inspired music. Castlevania should also be beautiful and elegant. The entire soundtrack doesn't need to be BREAK IT DOWN NOW BITCHES WE BE ROCKIN IN DA HOUSE OF VANIA TONIGHT :p

Yeah, they have what could possibly be one mediocre game, doesn't stop Megaman Zero, ZX, Megaman 9, 10, Shantae 3 and Gunvolt from being excellent

Didn't they only do some (all?) sprite work (or was it the HD portraits?) for Shantae and the Pirate's Curse? Regardless, I too think Inti Creates is a solid, competent dev.

Funny and ... odd thing i noticed about castlevania the other day.

Do you guys remember this song?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idwTZeGEkO8

Yes? alright lets move on.

Now play this following video, its a BARBIE movie my daughter watches every stinking day. Now GO TO THE 1:21:45sec part in the movie.
thats 1 hour 21 min and 45 secs, when the elefant starts running!!!
WHAT the hell is the castlevania song doing in a Barbie movie?!!?!?!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3HJlVukP5c

My daughter loves those movies, there is also a different movie that has the Final Fantasy main theme. Seems like someone in the music department is probably a gamer lol.

Well, again this is just me, but if I were to make a top ten Castlevania songs, a SotN track wouldn't be on there. There are so many catchy songs in the series and if I play and die and play and die over and over again, wouldn't I want the songs to be ear worm? Maybe it's just nostalgia, but then again, An Empty Tome is one of my favourite Castlevania songs. Harmony of Despair at least did one thing right.

Yeah, Inti's involvement was limited to the character art, portraits, etc and it wasn't Inti proper, just one guy.

There's a really solid reason for that, and I don't think that there's only one style of "catchy." If it had the "catchy" that most people refer to it wouldn't have meshed with the pacing of the game and would have felt very out of place.

Don't know why, but I haven't been able to get into gunvolt. Bought it on faith alone, and it's not clicking for me. Gameplay is not that great, and all the stuff in-between stages is really lame (horrible dialogue/story, unintuitive upgrade mechanics). I just can't get into it.

Here's hoping that their igavania is good, though. A simple 30 second gameplay video will be enough to tell me if it's good.

A MN9-style concept art image... will make many people wary.

I have contributed to kickstarters before, but this is the first one I have been prepared to throw money at.

If the 3DS is part of the equation then there's no way a fully polygonal game is gonna meet peoples' expectations--they can either build it for the 3DS and up-res it for every other platform, which is underwhelming to say the least, or they can build it to HD spec and crank out a terrible compromised 3DS version which will irritate all the IGA fans who want/expect the game for 3DS.

I do 95% of my gaming on 3DS, but this is the sad truth.

They already have experience in making Metroidvanias from Megaman Zero/ZX, they will be fine specially with Iga around
