Sony: "No concerns" about any lack of PS4 software this Holiday

Anything announced at e3 will most likely get pushed to next year.
Looking like 3rd parties going to win the holidays. This is disappointing cause I'm not interested in any of the annual franchises. Heck the only game I'm looking forward to is mgsv atm.

But that happens every holiday? COD, Assassin's Creed etc. sells most every holiday.

Incredibly Naive
Not trying to start a war here, but to me it seems like sony is more into the 3rd party marketing rights this gen as the heavy hitters. 360 used to grab all of those where sony would rely on their 1st party blockbusters.

The PS3 from launch until 2009 had very few good exclusives, but starting Feb 2009, the following exclusives were released in the next calendar year:

- Killzone 2
- inFamous
- Demon's Souls
- Uncharted 2
- Heavy Rain
- God of War Collection
- God of War 3
- Ratchet & Clank: A crack in time
- MLB 09: The Show
- A new Singstar
- Fat Princess

Yes, Sony published ALL the above games between Feb 2009 & Mar 2010 in what was arguably the best 12 months of any publisher ever, before those games PS3 "had no gaemz" too.

Sony's first party takes a long long time to start a gen, but when they do, they don't stop until the console cycle ends.

Singstar came out in 2007/2008 I think.

The perception may have been the PS3 had no games but it had quite a few well reviewed Sony published or exclusive games pre 2009.

Resistance and Resistance 2, Uncharted, Motorstorm and MS Pacific Rift, R&C Tools of Destruction, Warhawk, LittleBigPlanet, MLB 08, Wipeout HD. Most sold well, all got good reviews. I'd hardly call that taking a long, long time. They also had MGS4 exclusive on the system which made a big impact. To me the big difference is by 2009 Sony had already established a bunch of good series which they've failed to do this generation so far. No-one wants another Knack. Killzone SF and The Order stank. DriveClub's studio has been gutted and the game turned into a service.

Well good then that Tearaway Unfolded isn't a remaster.

And "lol indie game" is still a thing? Baffles my mind.
Escpecially for a game like No Man's Sky.

I read it was a remaster with different control scheme.

And yes PS4 rely on indies too much. A lot of people don't care about them.

If you ignore third party games which apparently don't count for anything.

Well, he was talking about first party or exclusives.

I enjoy playing games year round instead of buying 4-6 during christmas and spreading those throughout the year. Bloodborne has been amazing and MLB is the best sports game every year. I don't want to make a list war but the ratio of exclusives is in favor of one and not the other.

I agree that MLB is really good. I own 15 and played a bunch of RTTS.
But come on this has a 80 on metacritic, Madden, FIFA and 2k15 all score higher.
Which is fair IMO.

Indeed, and if they just do a price drop then oh boy, watch out.

Not that I necessarily take anything positive away from this myself, mind you. Unless their holiday plans include a certain boy and his dragon-cat-thing, or a certain other cel-shaded boy trapped on an island, I'm not overly interested.

yes please!

Infamous 1 + 2 and Uncharted for starters....

what ones do you want??

I want every PS3 game to be remastered!!Even the remasters! Who cares about new games when you can replay your old ones again and again everytime a new console generation comes?

Well you started off by asking him why he was upset, and then implied that he somehow was telling other people how to feel about Sony's lineup despite the fact that he didn't do anything but express his own opinion about how he felt.

It doesn't matter what your opinion on the matter is, you challenged an opinion he never even gave just because he said he didn't like Sony's lineup.

He didn't even challenge his thought process, he straight up made up an argument that the poster didn't make by trying to claim that he was trying to convince other people to be disappointed with Sony's lineup when all he said was that he personally wasn't thrilled with it.

Ok so next time someone comes out with a hyperbolic statement ("its a joke", "nothing wow", "no huge games", while throwing in a comment about how they are SOMEHOW still selling lots of ps4s for good measure) we shall all nod in agreement an applaud them.

Yes, lets all put our opinions forward like that and see what this place becomes if you would prefer that?

As for my opinion not mattering now, that's quite convenient considering it was never put forward in the 1st place in spite of your veiled attack.

man if you don't get outta here with that fuckshit.
I want some real games son. Don't get me wrong, those games seem very innovative and ambitious.
But I want them in house AAA big action Sony titles
.

Like what? Another Killzone? God of War?

Gow3 remastered is coming out, and Uncharted will be out in the spring. There's not much else that fits your wish list.

I'd rather Sony take their time and make quality games. Although my statement might hold more weight if The Order wasn't such a disappointment.

I'm worried, but not for them. I'm sure PS4 will continue to sell gangbusters regardless of what they release or don't.

Persona 5 simultaneous worldwide release would definitely be welcome though.

What are they going to say? "You're right, we have nothing this year. See ya in 2016?" Uh no. They will have some mid tier exclusives and maybe a money hat or two. Mostly marketing deals and that should be enough. 2016 is shaping up to be a monster year though. Funny that we said the same thing last year.

My PS4 Holiday wishlist:

No Man's Sky
Bloodborne DLC
Street Fighter V Beta.
Rime
Persona 5
Killer indies... I love indies!

Wishful thinking: The Last Guardian

This would be more than enough to hold me over until more AAA exclusives come out in Q1/Q2.

Actually that sounds like a great idea!

RDR remaster please and Dragon's Dogma... :)

Are people in this thread worried that they won't have anything to play on their PS4 this holiday or that Sony won't have any appealing games to drive PS4 sales?

Tearaway is a great game, but it didn't get the popularity LBP had so I don't think they should rely on it too much, if they do end up doing so. Personally, I just want Persona 5, but they'll probably end up having something else big.

MS doesn't have any big exclusives out yet though. Halo and Tomb Raider are the first true potential console-sellers.

Tomb Raider isn't a true exclusive. It won't sell systems- it will just get XB1 owners playing it first, and take away software sales from Sony- which is why it makes no sense from a publisher perspective- they are shooting themselves in the foot. When it finally comes out for PS4, people will just ignore it and buy Uncharted.

I see the concerns, and I do think Sony really need to get their shit together in terms of their first party output on PS4. That said, if I get to play Rime, Dragon Quest Heroes, Disgaea 5, Persona 5 and The Tomorrow Children this holiday then I'll be happy. That's a very solid line up in my opinion.

So sad that narative "PS4 has no gamez" still exist, but PS4 has much more games ( and great also ) than any competitor.

Well, i'm sure that someone will eat huge pie of shit.

I am not concerned, I only play for about 6-8 hours a week so there is not that much that I can handle. I am sure they have something.

I did not understand the GoW R, should have chosen another game, I finished it and have no desire to play it again.

I don´t have a good PC, so PS4 is my multiplat machine, also have Wii U.

I think everyone is getting hung up on the naming of Tearaway Unfolded as being their top tier release. Instead I think it's mentioned as one of two current exclusive games that are coming this holiday that was already known about, and that more will be announced in a few weeks.

Or ignore him? Are you telling me you quote every hyperbolic statement you see on the internet? So someone thinks Sony's lineup is a joke, so what? What do you care if someone thinks it's a joke? How does someone else not liking Sony's games effect you in any way? Why are you so adamant on defending the lineup of a video game company? Despite what you tried to imply, he wasn't trying to convince you or anyone else that it was a joke, he was just expressing that he wasn't thrilled with it.

You didn't even challenge that point or ask him to expand on it, you just made up an entirely different argument he never made.

E3. Hope they aren't bluffing.

It's hard to imagine they would be. Sony always pushes hard with 1st party and given our lack of knowledge of what's coming, seems reasonable that there just has to be at least a fair amount of unannounced stuff coming within a reasonable time frame.

Especially since sales are so good and the stars seem to be aligning. It would be beyond insane to have a bad E3 this year.

24 hours a day times 60 days(two months) = 1440 hours,-440 hours for sleep, its possible.

Well, Since the game released in March, my day has been 9 hours work + 6 hours of sleep, the rest of the day is pretty much all Bloodborne. I don't think I've even seen my friends/family/GF more than a couple of times since the game's released (yes, I'm a nerd like that when it comes to Bloodborne lol).

Maybe my math is off & I didn't hit 1k hours yet, but I have to be pretty close by now.

There is not a single game coming out for either system that will have more of an impact on console sales than a Battlefront marketing deal in the months leading and including the launch of episode 7. It is that simple.

I thought Tearaway Vita was great. And this is Mm? Hell, I'm more excited for this than I was for LBP3 last year.

Exactly, Tearaway is certainly something to be excited about, just because it doesn't have fast cars and headshots with sniper rifles doesn't mean it's not a good game. Still remains my favorite game on the Vita and cannot wait to see what they do on the PS4 with it.

So sad that narative "PS4 has no gamez" still exist, but PS4 has much more games ( and great also ) than any competitor.

Counted up my PSNProfile account for PS4 games, 98 attached to my PSN Account, no gamez!!!

Didn't we have threads worrying about Sony's lack of exclusive games last year as well?
I don't mind tbh, I have Tearaway on pre-ordered and that's fine for me. It's not like there won't be any games at all on the PS4. You also have to remember exclusive don't drive console sales as much as marketing deals..

No, it's around "50%" different, because they had to cut and change a lot.

If people who played the Vita version didn't like the game I don't hink they'll like the game more now that they made it longer.
If people didn't like the core experience Tearaway had to offer, it's pretty unlikely that Tearaway Unfolded will make them change their mind

Probably not the same impact since its excluaive and not as popular as Star Wars, but Halo 5 may be strong. Tomb Raider and Forza Motorsport may not do ugly either. And depending on the price for Gears Remaster it also may call some good ammount of attention. Imo MS is really fine and strong for the last half year besides its weak first semester.

Why is tearaway getting bullied here? Because it doesn't have guns or photo realistic graphics?

Yes. For some very boring gamers, it's AAA or bust.

I've been happy this year and I'm not concerned: Sony always delivers on first party, and I don't need Uncharted at Christmas simply for console wars' sake.

I guess it's not AAA, so it doesn't count for anything.
Its something that even the vita owners doesn't want.
This doesn't really say much, considering that the game got basically zero marketing push on the Vita. And even if it does say something, that would just mean Vita owners have pretty shit taste.
