wonder if i'll be able to go back to 60 rather than lock at 30

game doesnt scale too well. was impossible for me to reach a steady constant 60 no matter what I lowered

graphical options are pretty bad too. Lots of On/Off rather than quality options. Hope they add that.

In addition, CD Projekt Red will patch the game to allow editing of .ini files on PC, to push graphical settings even higher. You will be able to tweak grass and vegetation density, post-processing effects such as sharpening, and draw distances. The .ini patch will arrive soon after the other patch. "And we think about some other tricks but we need time," Adam Badowski says.

I don't know if this refers to ini patching that is already available (maybe getting a GUI for it?) or even more ini tweaks.

Good. Going on a roadtrip for a month starting the day after tomorrow. It should be all stable when I get back!

Don't you have like a GTX 320.

I'd be in the dick
Nice that it's already in cert. Usually it's over a month before enhancements hit in a patch. Hopefully the platform holders give it some priority in cert, they've been onn to do that from time to time.

Certification? Like MS and Sony cert or internal QA? Because it's a little silly to not patch the PC version nowish since they wouldn't have to wait for the former.

Are these patches available for the X1 version as well it seems to only mention PC just want to be sure, Im getting the game tomorrow will wait til everything is fixed before I play it

2 gig 680 foooool

I mean im not expecting greatness but the game should scale down to where I can get a solid framerate. I can get it to look like shit and it barely does a difference to how it runs; that's what I mean

Tonight is my last day playing since ill be going on vacation but I hope it'll be out by the time I get back, I love patches :)

The responses to the questions seem sincere to be fair.

I don't get the "we don't give a fuck" vibe that I get with from other devs/publishers

Seems like buying a game day 1 anymore is more a beta test than a retail game.

Wait and buy it cheaper and experience a better version first run through.

All I want is better performance when looking at houses. Right now, houses are the bane of my GPU. As soon as I run towards a village my GPU is thinking 'oh fuck I hope he's not going to that village'.

Pretty much applies to most things unfortunately.

Hell I should have waited for until 2016 to buy a ps4, the console will be cheaper, and not only would the games be patched up and generally good to go but they'd cost less too.....

Hopefully a fix for stuttering, crashes and that annoying gamepad message (I fixed it in the game files but it would be nice to have it patched).

I accept their reasons behind "the game looked like x in 2013 trailers and now looks like y". I don't see how this is something that can be prevented 100% in the future, except by not showing any footage until the game is basically at beta stages. I suppose they should have realized back in 2013 that the game wasn't working as whole due to the currently used engine. They should have known that it was more than likely that large scale changes were soon coming, because the game wasn't on the whole acceptable. Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda.

Dammit.

The billowing smoke and roaring fire from the trailer? "It's a global system and it will kill PC because transparencies - without DirectX 12 it does't work good in every game." So he killed it for the greater good, and he focused on making sure the 5000 doors in Novigrad worked instead.

DX 12 update can't come soon enough.

on/off only settings:

motion blur, blur, AA, bloom, sharpening, depth of field, chromatic aberration, vignetting, light shafts, hairworks (this has options tho, Geralt only or every character) and hardware cursor.

Outside of maybe light shafts and AA I see no reason as to why the others shouldn't only be on/off. All the options that are huge performance hogs have quality options.

I could argue many games that still give those options with sliders or quality options tho. just saying it'd be nice.

Do PC patches normally have a 5-7 day certification process?
There isn't a cert process on PC. However, they could be using the extra time they have before the console patches hit to iron out more issues given that theres a lot more that can and apparently has gone wrong with their PC version.

I'll gladly take a hairworks option solely for creatures. Geralt's hair is fine on normal but the beast stuff looks gud.

On PC, that's when it will be exposed to numerous combinations of hardware set-ups, graphical configurations and usage scenarios for which the developers can't plan?

"What happens when I try to go over this terrain in this one area with a slightly higher than minimum spec graphics card at a non-native resolution?"

Nice. Shame they want to wait for the consoles to get certified before providing patches on PC.

I've been calling this one before but I'll do it again now - the PC version is going to get Vulkan and DX12 renderers eventually, and those cut graphical features are going to come back

This is PC only?

Console as well, but I'd take a guess they will not be the same per platform

why would they even entertain all the whining and crying about downgrade. "oh console held pc back...oh chimney has smoke..." come on. yes, we are at this level of whining it's pathetic.

Argh whatever Internet, the game is amazing, full of detail, strong story and huge open world!!

Don't appolgise, those tweets should be thanking you for making an amazing game!!!

And let's be honest here even if the graphics were ramped up only a handful of people could actually run that, the others would be looking at 5 minute YouTube videos

PSA: A certification process means the patch is for all platforms.

Yeah, agreed. The high-quality Geralt hairworks kills my framerate, but outdoors fighting against things like wolves it's just fine. I'd love more options for it.

And no one is going to discuss about their statements in that interview? .. I'm personally ok what they have said to the downgrade discussion.. and more patches, updates, etc. hell yeah :)

It's great to see them open up the .ini files for modders to do their magic.

The entire article has so much PR spin it could be used as a prime example in marketing classes.

I still don't understand how you can develop a game for 3 years and then still have it broken on release day. The reliance on Day 1 patches/unlimited patch sizes this gen has become ridiculous, MS should start charging devs for patches again and limit them to couple megabytes like it was on 360. This is just BS.

Awesome!! Hopefully it will be out by the time I finish my Witcher 2 playthrough and I can start W3 with a smoother experience. I haven't even opened my PS4 copy yet and it's killing me D:
