I'm glad you guys are discussing Morrison. I started New X-Men a couple of days ago and it's great as stated many times by now.

I want to actually connect with DC - the comics and not just the cartoons - and I'm hoping Morrison is the one to do it. Multiversity and Seven Soldiers sound good, so I want to get that stuff. When you guys mention Finsl Crisis, how involved is it? Is it like Secret Wars where u would I need to read a couple books preceding it to make sense of it or can I just start with it?

I'm thinking we recast Messi as Static Shock.
We need a Peter Parker figure who's charismatic and loved by the masses.

Also if they make it a TV show GrandHarrier + Kipp can be the Big Bads for season 1 before it has a crossover with Flash as Earth Two and Zombine cameos as our Jay Garrick,

Just finished the Civil War Spidey tie-ins. I love Peter's dialogue but the overall story still wasn't great. Better than the main Civil War book though.

If you want to get into Morrison's modern DC stuff, I'd say start with his Batman run since it leads into Final Crisis anyways. It starts with Batman and Son and it's awesome.

Clone Wars is great. The first season's a bit rough at times but after the second half of the second season it really improves. If you enjoyed Rebels I can't see you not enjoying Clone Wars.

I just recently finished Morrison's run, and it honestly felt like he had enough ideas for 100 issues. Dude is amazing for digging into the deepest roots of a series/franchise/character and distilling it all to its essence in order to regrow something new from the old.

That said, I really could barely get through all the Igor Kordey art, even with knowledge thwt the dude busted those issues out under the shittiest backup circumstances.

Also, reading Morrison's New Xmen made me appreciate Remender and Aaron's Xmen work more, cause they're clearly fans playing with tue toys he added to the xmen toybox.

Read some more books. Saga was one of those filler issues where when you flip the last page, you kinda just shrug and go "ok". Lady Killer #5 wrapped up the mini and it was ok. Ending seemed rushed. Looks like the main character of the book is not done and may come back in another book or ongoing.

Totally. For me, reading their stuff is what indicated to me that I needed to start Morrison's stuff. He really seems to have introduced some of the coolest, most out-there concepts to the series.

Aaron I would also be cool with taking over the main X-book post-SW. I love the tone and framing of the intro arc he did for Amazing X-Men and I was pretty bummed out by the turn it took once Kyle/Yost got it. They're not bad and the book isn't bad, but Aaron was having a ton of fun.

Kipp

but I am taking tiny steps forward
What did you do with Kipp.

I also bought 3 things from 2 stores today. Bought a polo (
it was on clearance and clearance was 50% off and I had my employee discount so it was $3.92 after tax
) and bought new bike shorts and a long-sleeve bike shirt (
my old bike shorts were pretty worn down and were slightly see through in spots... it was time to get a new pair
).

Please don't contact a mod. I promise my account was not hacked.

There was a thread in OT where it was well praised, watch it it's pretty good.

Of course brehs

I was like five or six issues in before stopping, big mistake

Wait, so you got to Coyote Gospel and stopped? Or were you just afraid that after the first arc, it would drag down without B'Wana Beast? :D

New X-Men is legit, I'm still pissed that I lost the last three tpb's moving ten years ago, thank god for Marvel Unlimited (I never rebought them because I know the minute I do I'll find them buried in a box in the basement). I actually just read through the whole run again over Christmas and it may have been better than I remembered.

Don't start with Final Crisis for his DC stuff. Start with All-Star Superman and his Batman run, those are much easier to get into. Do read Seven Soldiers, Final Crisis, and Multiversity in a row, they kind of form a loose thematic trilogy. Don't skip on his JLA run and the DC One Million story either. The DC One Million omnibus is a great pickup, the tie in books were just as good as the main event.

Oh and for Final Crisis, you will enjoy it much more if you read up on Kirby's DC work (OMAC, Kamandi, and the Fourth World). On top of everything else that is, Final Crisis is a love letter to the King and his characters and concepts.

I should read them in the order of release, right? Final Crisis -> Seven Soldiers -> Multiversity?

When you read Final Crisis, make sure to read Superman Beyond and the Batman interim issues. I think they're all included in this TPB.

Those issues help a ton in explaining what's going on. Reading just FC 1-7 is a fucking mess. I'm really not the world's biggest Morrison fan because of FC. His JLA series, and whatever he contributed to 52 is good.

The comic that really got me into DC was John's JSA.
