Can't anyone make a good Tornado Disaster movie?

The cartoonishness of Twister, and its dumb plot of "The quest to stop the evil tornados!", and the new Into The Storm found footage (bleh) movie full of cliche characters, and out right horrible ones that are somehow supposed to be comic relief but are incredibly cringe worthy(hillbillies), it seems Hollywood cannot make a really good tornado disaster flick.

Yet, I still like to watch them, because I love tornados. They are the embodiment of my guilty pleasure type movies. Like Emmericks movies, and at least his Disaster films bring the epicness.

A movie where they know the tornado is coming and the town has to prepare for the onslaught is the right idea waiting to be turned into a script.

Everyone in town heads down to the local bunker when the tornado hits. Little do they know the bunker is filled with vampires.

I've got one.

Town has been ravaged by floods and main weatherman of the city is being treated like an outcast for not accurately predicting the floods. However now another weather system is on the way one that could produce intense tornadoes. However with the town ravaged by floods leaving most lowlaying places unsafe and the people distrustful of his predication how can Mr. Weatherman save everyone!?

At some point in the movie the tornadoes will destroy a nearby dam.

THE STORM IS ABOUT TO LAND DIRECTLY ON THE MAIN CHARACTERS.

EVERY STORM.

FOR 2 HOURS STRAIGHT.

Into the Storm was laughably bad at times. The sad part was, you can tell the parts they stole from recent tragic tornado stories and it's almost sick. That and the 20-something Larry the Cable Guy characters. It's like a TV movie with some decent storm effects.

Yeah, I really hated the hillbillies. I know the movies was filmed in Michigan, my homestate, so thats one of the only other reasons I like to watch it.

I did think the storm proof car was boss though.

What can you really do with a tornado movie? They're over in the matter of seconds usually. Unless maybe there is a series of them? Not sure how you stretch that without a bunch of fluff for two hours.

It would be a pretty boring movie if the storms always missed the main characters. LOL

"I gotta go Julia, we got cows."

Twister was the first movie I watched on DVD. It will always have a special place in my heart.

That is why it should be about the preparation for it. We have to get that 18 wheeler full of gasoline sitting beside the high school full of kids locked down. Also lets get the kids out. Meanwhile it is windy and raining and starting to flood a bit.

Tornadoes come and go in like ten seconds.
I live smack in the middle of tornado alley, and this shit can't make a good movie because by the time you know about the tornado is actually happening, it's already picked back up and gone.
There's no "boarding up the town" and "weathering the storm" there's running to your basement When the TV says the tornado is a town over, and hanging out for about 5 minutes then going back upstairs.

IIRC, "Twister" was the first movie I ordered on PPV. I had my mom get it at least another 3 or 4 times.

The problems is the fluff is terrible.

Take Twister. The main character literally feels that tornados are some malevolent beings that specifically came to kill her father. The other main character is a tornado 'psychic' and together with their colorful crew, and one sex therapist, embark on a quest to put a stop to the evil doings perpetrated by the sinister cyclones. They are even more emboldened when poor Aunt Meg gets hurt and gives her speech of how someone has to stand up to them blasted vortexes!

But it did have alot of cartoonish fun when the tornadoes actualllly appeared.

Twister is already the pinnacle of Tornado movies.

There is no point making any more

Also Phillip Seymor Hoffman's best performance

That is why it has to be a super tornado.
