Umm..... why would Sony do that? They're soooo gonna leak out - if they're holding for Paris that is.

There's a good chance it'll be announced on-stage at E3 via CGi trailer, in-engine or vertical slice demo.

Having a closed-door demo only means that they don't want to reveal the gameplay officially yet, or isn't comfortable letting other people go hands-on yet.

Uhm that Gears leak would like to have a word with you...

We are still 18 days away... a lot of time things can happen.

Gears was a public test at home on peoples consoles, ntkrnl was someone who clearly had access to tons of info leaking things, not really the same situations.

As naive as the Gears situation was, I don't think it really the same, if they hadnt done that test we'd likely still be in the dark over it

Shinobi already teased a gears game for this year ;) So we werent really unprepared.

I don't think Shinobi hinting at things is quite on a level of ntkrnl/cboat either. So far they've been pretty quiet compared to recent years.

Not like anyone genuinely thought they wouldn't have a Gears game this year either

Sony skipping Gamescom conference in August for Paris Games Week conference which is late October
Ahhhh, I see. That's a little disappointing, I always liked Gamescom. Gave me something to look forward to just before classes started up again.

I wish they'd drop in. Always makes things interesting.

I think you read that in a rush and didnt understand what he meant

Um, those games will be announced at their E3 conference.

The way the press has treated Bloodborne impressions and The Order impressions (E3 behind closed doors) I take MS's way and show gameplay footage when I am ready, on my terms, to everyone at a conference of my choosing. Sony dripping info to the press doesn't have that big of a benefit as they might think it does - we're not in the age of magazines anymore. Between the clickbait impressions (where a flaw is magnified 10x even if it's trivial) and with all the hype from other games at E3... just really not something worth that much - in my judgement. Even if the impressions have an embargo...which is silly - just show footage when you're truly ready - no embargoes. I guess it's a way to explain to the media how the game works etc (so that they can relay that to their "audience").... but most consumers can figure things out without explicit info falling to their laps. The actual process of trying to understand the footage and the unknowns is better press in my view.

Bloodborne impressions? The impressions for Bloodborne were always extremely positive.

I usually have a few fanciful hopes for e3, not been in the loop much this year though so my expectations are a little low key. The only potentially outlandish thing I'm secretly half expecting is Metroid U from Retro (they have to have been working on something, right?!). That would be super cool.

I don't think anyone wants another ntkrnl situation happening again. The man was spot on in every facet, but he literally took the winds out of a conference. This year, I hope we go in blind and earn "Insight" (Bloodborne awful joke). :)

The concern for frame-rate was real. Avoidable. It's all about controlling the message.

The only thing I misread was thinking the games were not going to be announced at E3. Besides that point, I still don't like the main argument. In my judgement behind the scenes demo's to the press of freshly announced AAA games isn't too beneficial. I would argue it's hard to control the message when that type of footage is not ready for public consumption (not with today's press) - and there are reasons for such.

Insight means having eyes on the inside. So get to leaking.

Not happening, I've actively asked people to not tell me anything, nor do I want the anxiety and mockery that comes with it. I'll leave it to the pros, and if the rumors swirling around on GAF are any indiction, this thing should be fun.

I did not mind ntkrnl so much because it was 5 months~ before, a leak right about now, less than 3 weeks to showtime wouldn't really have the same effect, teases are nice to get a bit of hype and excitement but a blowout now would be pretty rubbish.

We still got Ori from it too which was a nice surprise (although the trademark had leaked from that too a while before)

Cboat posting stuff about the 2013 conference on the day too (the stuff at the show, the stuff around like that was fine) and MCV saying Crackdown was going to be announced "tonight" last year is not really something I'm interested in.

The lack of leaks in general, especially surrounding MS has me super hyped. Have a feeling it's going to be a really good E3 for everyone.

E3 could be very fun/interesting (if things I've heard are true).

I mean, let's be real. If MS unveils nothing new and shows off what we already know is in the pipeline: Halo 5, Gears 4, Crackdown 3, a new Rare IP, Forza 6, and Scalebound - do we even really need a leak at that point? It's a solid conference based on the confidence of the source material going in. ^_^

Yeah, last minute leaks are not fun at all. Might as well just wait for the conference.

Yeah I feel you. But this happens all the time actually. Just happened with SW Battlefront at the Celebration

Im wondering whether Rares AAA game will be at Gamescom instead of E3. Theres other stuff they could announce at E3 instead and save the bigger game for a few weeks later to make their Gamescom show a bit bigger.

They seem to be hyping things up a bit so I'm expecting them to have some new things there and unlike last year they haven't announced things just before (Halo 5 Guardians, Forza Horizon 2, Project Totem -> Kalimba, Sunset Overdrive gameplay)

Very true! I'm really excited to see what Rare's been working on and hopefully some Scalebound gameplay.

I don't really remember that from the press. They mentioned it but I can't recall anyone really making a big deal out of it

The city of Yharnam is full of perils, but it’s also stunningly beautiful to look at. Even in its pre-alpha state, which is understandably plagued by a noticeably stuttering framerate and some other impurities, I marveled at how pretty the player’s surroundings are. It has both a Gothic and Victorian feel, with beautiful castle spires and towering turrets blanketing the distance, and an endless array of brickwork everywhere you look. Little nods – like a turned-over horse-drawn carriage or abandoned baby stroller – pins-down its 19th century setting, and burning, crucified corpses, abandoned coffins, and shadowy apparitions remind you to be scared not only of your enemies, but of everything else around you, too. The dark, dreary nature of Yharnam at night is truly terrifying; it’s so-called “Victorian Horror” themes are obvious.

Turns out that Bloodborne is so much like a Souls game it's spooky. The E3 demo opens with the main character rising from a stooped position, exactly like the Souls avatar does after every death. The animations and sound effects are identical to Souls 2's - there's a backstep, a kick, a roll, ragdoll corpse physics, floating flames over corpses with items hidden on them, a torch... early on in the demo an undead came crashing through a wooden barrier with that exact same sound of collapsing wood that's all too familiar to every Souls player who's ever been caught by surprise by a Hollow. When the first enemy was slain, I heard that familiar whoosh of souls being absorbed. It's even got a struggling frame rate (though that will presumably improve with time).

The press generally understands that a game being shown behind doors means that it's early, so there's little reason to be concerned about performance issues.

A question regarding Sonys First Party Studios.
Does Team Soho from Sony London still exist? They made the Getaway Games & i would to see them work on a PS4 Game again

For the MS Conference im actually pretty excited for Scalebound. It will probably be the most expensive project from Platinum Games. Let's see what they do with that MS Money

If Fallout 4's release year was leaked before the conference, my mind would be at peace. That is the one thing I want to know from Bethesda's presser. Everything else is sweet, sweet gravy.

Maybe they are hiding the dinos?!

I would also accept Jeff Goldblum

What if Sony had a like a full dedicated 20 minutes to all the JRPGs that are coming to the console.

Like someone walks out on to the stage and says Playstation is known as the home of Japanese role-playing games. Here's a trailer for FFXV, Kingdom Hearts 3, Persona 5, new Sony IP, new Level 5 game, Disgaea 5, Star Ocean 5, and Tales of Zestria.

I don't actually know when, but I'm willing to bet money it's a 2016 title.

People hoping for this year are hoping for too much imo.

I'm hoping for 2015 based solely on how Todd Howard and Pete Hines have talked about their marketing approach recently. I believe they said they want as quick of a turn around between reveal and release as possible, and when they show the game they want it to basically be finished (I'll see if I can't find sources for those). If it is 2016, I think it'll be in the first half of the year. Plus, Fallout 3 was revealed at E3 the year it released, so it isn't completely unprecedented.

I'm going to expect 2016 though just so I don't get my hopes dashed.

There better be a MGS GIF for the countdown.

I promise you that there will be one.

hopefully the rest of the days are going to be GIFs as well :D Thanks for doing these btw, much appreciated!

Please make MGSV face splashing gif the last one :p

Metal Gear Solid isn't going to be day 1 for sure but you will see. I don't think it would be face-splashing gif but I had my own favorite scene tho.

Thanks! :D

What was the ntkrnl situation?

Poster names ntkrnl literally leaked MS's entire E3 conference and pre-E3 announcements. Was spot on.

Here. Ntkrnl is a famous leaker believed to be a Microsoft employee. Leaked the entire Microsoft 2013 press conference. The leak was amazing to see, but took the wind out of every announcement.

EDIT: jfoiqwjfpoefajpifockjasofi beat

Edit: Thank you

I was awere of cboat, but, didn't minded seen xbone leaks at the time.

This guy was really awesome.

Didn't get the memo regarding the 14th Amendment
Even Ntkrnl wasn't aware of what Rare was doing.

Which means one of three possible things: Rare didn't start really working on their new projects when ntkrnl knew of his info (hopefully not), Rare's projects really are meant to turn around the studio so they were kept very top secret (hopefully yes), or ntkrnl just didn't have any real connection to Rare so there just wouldn't be any info for him (the less boring but most likely answer out of these three).
