Best mouse for PC gaming?

So the right clicker on my mouse just broke and I need a new one. It was a regular Logitech mouse without much gaming capability but it served me well enough for the few games I play. But now a gaming centric mouse feels like the right buy so....what are some good gaming mice.

Their last couple of G-series revisions have been mediocre at best, but the current Logitech G502 is an enormous improvement over the G500 and arguably better than the old G5 even ignoring how many more buttons it has.

It just looks a bit ugly.

I had the G500 for about 4-5 years until it started double clicking recently. I decided to get another brand just 'cause, and ended up picking the Steelseries Rival. I like it a lot so far - the shape is perfect for me, and the thumb buttons are easily accessible without having to bend my thumb too much (I have longer fingers and this was an issue on other mice).

It's also nice in that it's not terribly flashy and doesn't have an absurd number of thumb buttons, which is what turned me off a lot of the other mice being suggested in this thread.

We need to know what grip style you have: palm, claw, or fingertip?

I also want a new mouse, so I'll keep my eye on this thread.

Get the G502.

Best mouse on the market.
It's so damn ugly. What is it with mouse manufacturers and making ugly Transformer looking mice?

"best mouse" is something completely subjective. i predict that everyone will just post what mouse they currently have and that they love it. what type of games do you play? how do you hold your mouse?

New Logitech G303 has a pretty bad-ass sensor. I believe the sensor is where you begin to research your new mouse, then shape and buttons etc.

Steelseries Sensei Raw is some of the best bang for your buck if price is a concern at all. I've had mine for two years now and it's still going strong.

But yeah, this. The "best" depends heavily on the features you need and how you actually use it.

Id recommend one of the newer zowie mice. Like the EC2A or ZA12/ZA13. Driverless, good sensor, and has the most useful dpi's.

Here's the mouse section of the "I need a new PC" thread we have going on that generally gives some really good advice:

[PERFORMANCE MICE]

Speed, accuracy, and sensor customization are valued here.

Spawn is an amazing value designed for claw and hybrid grips as it centers weight right under claw grip. If you absolutely love the MX518 shape, then the G400S is a good choice at $45, but is outperformed by the Rival and M45. The Corsair is a better fit for strict palm grip with large hands, and for those who prefer a heavier mouse. The Rival is lighter and is good with palm and hybrid grips and has great software. G502 is apparently the second coming of Gaben or something like that.

For those extra buttons over a very precise sensor.

The Recon has a great sensor and firmware for the price, as well as an ambi grip. The Sensei does as well, and has the best sensor here. The M95's side button layout is the best of the MMO oriented mice. G700s is the only wireless mouse listed here.

Keep in mind that the prices are quite outdated and can generally be found for much less these days. In any event, I, for one, highly recommend the Logitech G502.

Zowie EC2 eVo. Amazingly accurate, really low lift, no crappy software needed... It's my favourite mouse of all time.

I have two Zowie mice. I like them, but the back button on my EC1 Evo failed after 18 months of light intermittent use. I'm still sad about having to replace it.

I mainly play CSGO,Gmod, and some LOL from time to time. I guess I grip my mouse like everyone else? Grip the bottom half with my Palm, thumb on the left side, and pointer finger on left clicker.

Love my Corsair M45

extra buttons such as the two side buttons or the sensetivity buttons within comfortable reach

fits nicely with my rested hand

Plus extra weight adjustment underneath the mouse

Bought a G502 2 months ago and it is amazing. It's not that ugly once you get used to it, and it is very comfortable and customizable.

G600.

Godlike mouse.
You can't never have enough hotkeys.
FPS: Map everything to your mouse for faster response. Left hand is for movement, everything else is on the mouse for action.
MMO: Because you need it unless you are a casual.
MOBA: Pressing 1-6 while trying to press QWERD during a heated match? Are you insane?
RTS: Brah, I need to micro manage within a thumb click.

Mx518 is what I use old mouse and love it

Mine is finally dying. Scroll wheel decides to not work most of the time. The replacement I got ended up being garbage and I went back to using a decade old mouse without a scroll until I can find something decent.

Does anyone know one for under $20 that is good enough. The very little pc gaming I do is on a macbook pro and since I don't game much on it I want to spend as little as possible.

Still rocking a G500 and I love it to bits. Aalllllmmoooost got a G502 but I couldn't justify the price without feeling it. It's one ugly mother too, love the look of the G500. But you can't go wrong with any of the similar logitech series, it's all the same basic stuff.

Surprised no one has mentioned the G600. Doe nobody like that mouse here? I can't do without it for the games I play. The tilt clicks on the wheel and extra ring finger click is great too.

Stop It

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.
I have a Logitech G500, use my old G5 at work, and had the MX518 before that.

So I'm biased but these mice have been utterly bulletproof, with the G5 as old as the hills and still working perfectly and the G500 not exactly new now either.

In the end I think ergonomics matter more than pure performance, if you feel happy with a mouse, stick with it.

Great for the amount of buttons it provides, however, the sensor is pretty god awful from what I've experienced and heard.

If you're a die-hard MMO player and absolutely need 12 side buttons, then yes, the G600 probably can't be beat. If not, you're much better off with other options or the Corsair M95 which is better in almost every regard except for having 3 less buttons to utilize.

I have no clue what is a good recent gaming mouse............because my MX518 just feels so good, and is built like a brick shithouse. It's going to be a sad day when this thing dies.

I quite like my Roccat Kone XTD, other than that I've no idea since I've only used Roccat mice for a few years now.

TheSeks

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
I use a Razor Blackadder 2013, without the additional software install they want you to do. Works fine for me. The extra buttons even work for stuff like Battlefield.

As an alternative to the G502, the G602 is wireless, much less ugly, and really comfortable. I'm a big fan of it.

e: oh yeah, It runs on AA batteries and the battery life is incredible. Like, better than Wii U controller levels of incredible.

I use this one as well. I have the last two side buttons and the two top buttons mapped to esc, backspace, space and enter. They're very handy for normal desktop stuff like web browsing and spreadsheets.

What is the difference between the g400 & the g500? I've been using my g500 for years but now the sensor seems to not work occasionally and the buttons will switch bindings occasionally (no idea what happened).

A lot of people from a previous thread said the g400 >>> g500, thoughts?

when i asked about how you held your mouse i was more referring to claw or grip since those two "styles" seem to be what most manufacturers design their mouse around. doesnt sound like you need a mouse with extra side buttons (like the logitech g600 or corsair m90). so get something with a good sensor that feels comfortable in your hands.

My biggest complaint is that grippy rubber texture they used where your thumb goes. It's feeling stickier and stickier years later, through nothing but regular use and probably some skin oil residue. Become exceedingly uncomfortable.

If anyone has any sure-fire solutions for cleaning that gunk off, btw, I'd be extremely grateful.

I have a G502 and love it. It looks less gaudy in person than it does in the promo photos, and you can dim the light on the logo so it's not as flashy.

I'm a bit partial towards the Razer Mamba. It's very similar to the excellent Microsoft Habu and based around the design of the old Intellimouse Explorer mouses from Microsoft, wireless with decent battery life and if you run out of battery you can just plug the usb cable on the front and continue in a handful of seconds.

The biggest con is that you have to deal with Razer's immensely shitty driver software but otherwise it's an excellent piece of hardware that has proven to be reliable, comfortable and great to use.

Pretty accurate assement of logitech mice the last few years, they lost a step since they started doing the MX series ages ago.

The best mouse is factor of things op without knowing what games you play or your setup recommending can be hard. At the very least get a mouse with no angle snapping, raw input support and high dpi and a form that fits your hand or your playstyles.
