Going to guess that you play the son/daughter of the family that was shown pre-bombs, then you get put into the vault without them and that's you walking out x amount of years later? Not sure how much time usually passes before people start leaving the vaults in the originals...

That's more or less what I got out of it too. Maybe Vault 111 will have some cryostasis shenaningans going on. You play a prologue right before the bombs hit where you basically have to get into the Vault (or maybe you control your parents at the beginning?), get in and out of some stasis pod, define your character and then off to explore post-apocalyptic Boston.

considering Witcher 3 is a fucking mess technically (PS4) hopefully with the less then amazing visuals the game can keep a fucking decent frame rate.

It's the first believable world of any game I've played, walking through a forest feels like walking through a forest.

Fallout 4 looks like HD version of Skyrim engine. Stilted animations, horrible player/character models, bad LOD, flat textures...

I hope the dog has a Fable type moral system where player choices between good & evil also affected how the dog behaved & looked.

Playing as a murderous bastard in Fallout 4 with a nice friendly Alsatian would be slightly odd.

Other than the dog issue, I think it looks great.

This is exactly how I wanted for the next Fallout to look like and they nailed it perfectly. So familiar in details to The Last of Us. Very close to it. I'm so thrilled to see looking like this, especially that colorful. One dream came true. I hope the story/sidequests/main quests/DLC/all the great moments will be memorable as Fallout 3 because looking at F3 now it surely shows his age if you don't use any mods or ENB and I don't want to be disappointed always remembering that F3 still stands first once I could not go back to him because of the ageing graphical/animation differences.

Is it the best looking game of the current-gen? Not even close, but it's good enough for me.

TLOU, GTA 5, Uncharted 3. The fact that this game is current gen only and looks like a cross gen game and running on the PS3 is bad. This is only a critique on the visuals, the gameplay has yet to be shown.

I can't shake the feeling that they're really going to struggle to break new ground. I mean, this seems like nowhere near as big a step as Oblivion > Skyrim in terms of style/world lore.

Uh, no sorry but the game drops to about 20fps in the swamps, in the rain, when there are wraiths on screen and has hard locked on my at least 5 times. I have had loading issues that go on forever. You can pretend its not a problem or admit that it doesn't bother you but you can't tell me to STFU like it doesn't exist.

CD Projekt isn't competition, neither is Warhorse. You don't get amazing visuals from Bethesda, because their immersion factor is off the charts. No one, not even CD Projekt was making games like Morrowind, Oblivion or Fallout on the dated hardware that Bethesda was.

I fully expect the game to have very few loading screens, and tons more interactivity, this go round. They've spoke about it before as their next step.

In terms of detail and immersion, only Rockstar is in the same league as Bethesda, hence why both developers, get all the time and money, in the world to make whatever the hell they want. Witcher 3 is an excellent game, I enjoy it, but it doesn't come close to anything Bethesda has created.

This post is hilarious to me because just like a bazillion other things, immersion is something Bethesda is not very good at, with its empty, unconvincing worlds, devoid of character and life. I hope Fallout 4 is not yet another shitty theme park.

Looks good for a Fallout, specially in terms of art direction. The ones on last gen consoles were hideous even for last gen standards.

I'm also happy to see a trailer that actually looks like something I can realistically expect. Instead of them showing some bullshit CGI-like "in game" trailer that's going to get downgraded to hell and beyond

As for my opinion on the graphics, they look serviceable but I certainly wasn't impressed. The thing that stood out the most after 3/New Vegas was the use of color which will be a welcome change. I'll be there day one for this but there is no way the game is coming out this year so the begging and pleading needs to end.

As an outsider not familiar with the series, the look of it isn't very appealing.

That isn't its biggest draw at least to me. Graphics are the least of my concerns as far as Fallout goes.

Graphics don't look good, they look really bad for a 2015 game.

That being said it's not why you purchase the game, but they haven't revealed any features or shown off gameplay and I'm seeing "DAY ONE OMG YES" posts? Some of you would pay $60 just for the box it seems. I don't get GAF sometimes.

This isn't a new IP, a new developer, unknown talent.

This a proven, successful developer and series. No doubt this game will be great.

I don't know how you can't get that.
