Fallout 4 Officially Revealed for PC, Xbox One, PS4 [Reddit Rumor = Ban]

Wow, looks fantastic. Especially the broader color palette, they clearly wanted to make it a point in this trailer that it's not just drab grays and browns this time around. I'm also glad that, like Skyrim, they announced it with an in-engine trailer. There's nothing in that trailer that struck me as being impossible to pull off on either of the current gen consoles. So props to Bethesda for not announcing it with a whole mess of CGI.

As for the visuals - yeah, it's not the prettiest game in the world, but Bethesda's games have never been on the cutting edge of the graphical spectrum so I don't see why there's any real surprise there. Besides, the PC modding community will make it look even better if really matters that much to some.

Also, people jumping the gun yesterday and shitting on Bethesda for making Fallout 4 cross-gen are looking a tad silly now.

Doesn't prove anything. Maybe they stole the statue from Boston and moved it to somewhere else.

I really do pity the people that put so much stock in graphics. News flash, the Fallout series isn't know for amazing graphics, and it never deterred it from being bloody amazing.

Yeah, but what the Fallout series is known for isn't being shown off in this trailer. What else do we have to judge it on at this point outside of graphics?

"less go"
10/10 GAME OF ALL YEARS EXCELLENT DIALOG WRITING. STUNNING GERMAN SHEPHERD RENDITION.

Is the helicopter flight from the populated area a hint that they have implemented appropriate streaming tech to combat the "walled off settlement" structure that was the bane of immersion in Fallout 3, New Vegas and Skyrim? Or maybe I am just seeing what I want to see ...

I know nothing about Fallout, I'd like to care about it because I like the topic but this trailer looks ugly to me... looks like a Sims game. Then again, What do I know?

It would really be neat if there was a way for you to play from the perspective of the past. That looked way better.

I'm thinking Tranquility Lane, but real.

But that would defeat the purpose of Fallout, I guess.

Speculation, but there's a chance the main character is actually the baby from the crib 30+ years later, meaning you get to play the start of the game as the parents getting to the vault. At least I think it would be neat.

I reckon the prologue of the game will be you as a kid in the pre-war setting, just before the bombs fall.

I can't wait to be attacked by raiders and shoot grenades before they toss them at me, one of the best strats I've found as a low level player.

Pretty much the only thing I really want to see graphically is better hair. Everything else is icing on the cake.

Also: IN.
The faces. Dear God those nightmarish faces from previous games, they need to fix 'em.

Great art can easily compensate for technical shortcomings so they have no excuse at this point. Skyrim was a step in the right direction at least.

Amusing the shitstorm that CD Projekt gets if some in game leaves aren't quite as shiny in the end product as in trailers but Bethesda can keep shitting out incompetent Xbox 1 quality graphics (and awful animations to go along with it) and everyone keeps lapping it up

CD Projekt isn't competition, neither is Warhorse. You don't get amazing visuals from Bethesda, because their immersion factor is off the charts. No one, not even CD Projekt was making games like Morrowind, Oblivion or Fallout on the dated hardware that Bethesda was.

I fully expect the game to have very few loading screens, and tons more interactivity, this go round. They've spoke about it before as their next step.

In terms of detail and immersion, only Rockstar is in the same league as Bethesda, hence why both developers, get all the time and money, in the world to make whatever the hell they want. Witcher 3 is an excellent game, I enjoy it, but it doesn't come close to anything Bethesda has created.

This post is hilarious to me because just like a bazillion other things, immersion is something Bethesda is not very good at, with its empty, unconvincing worlds, devoid of character and life. I hope Fallout 4 is not yet another shitty theme park.

Totally agree.

CDPR just came along and blew everything Rockstar has done and everything Bethesda has done out of the water.

Aside from the fact that TW3 has sold enough to rival TES/Fallout (though obviously not GTA), they also offered a better gameworld, a bigger gameworld, a better story, a more interactive story, better combat gameplay, and better immersion. TW3 is the next level. If Fallout 4 comes even remotely close, I'll be a very happy camper. And frankly I think that's a tall order.

Bethesda games have never been immersive for me, bar a honeymoon period in Fallout 3 before I lost interest x. 20 hours in. But in their defence I've only ever played console ports which clearly have more technical issues and are less visually pleasant.

... The sad thing is that this trailer is also full of bullshots.

It's in-game, not gameplay.

It's only downhill from here, folks.

That tinfoil hat really suits you!

Wonder how long of a tail this announcement is going to have. Hopefully it's 1st half of 2016 at the latest.

Anyway, I hope this is different enough from Fallout 3 / NV to make it a fresh and unique experience like Fallout 3 was.

People are jumping on the graphics too early. What if there are no loading screens? I would 100% take a hit in graphics if it meant no loading screens.

Well, this trailer certainly makes Obsidian's world building stand out in sharp relief. Not really digging what they showed. First impression seems like it's more of the same from Fallout 3 which, ironically, is what a lot of complaints focused on for New Vegas. But here the focus is, once again, on a dog, a vault dweller, power armour, generic 50's radio and silly locations (though, rewatching, the only big silliness is that weird rocket pirate ship).

The one positive thing is the shot of the city that doesn't appear to be sectioned off with really generic rubble piles. If it's more open, that's good.

On the other hand, a voiced protagonist will probably make the game even worse. Bethesda isn't known for their strong dialogue (I saw a mudcrab the other day), not to mention their dialogue options in 3 are well known for being cringe-worthy. Voicing that will only make it worse.

Will probably pick this up as a game of the year bundle when it's heavily discounted.
