PS4's Newest MMO, Wander, Is Hilariously Broken

The game just came out on PlayStation 4 and PC for $25, and players have been brutal so far—with good reason. Searching “Wander” on YouTube brings you exciting titles like “Save Your Money Not Worth It” and “Worst Game of This Generation.” The second one seems a bit hyperbolic, buuuut...

Update (4:08 p.m.): I’m not an MMO player, so I didn’t realize /stuck was a common term in MMO games! That bit has been removed. That’s totally my fault. Wander is still messed up in a lot of ways, but I’ve edited the story for accuracy. Thanks to the commenters for pointing it out!

it looked good in the trailer.

at least it can get patched, so there's that. so maybe don't buy for now but after a couple of weeks? let people beta-test it for you.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
It's not broken on PC or why the focus on PS4 with the headline?

What is this "/stuck" thing at the top of the article?

Edit: My only MMO was RuneScape, which did not have whatever this is because "getting stuck" didn't happen. I've sort of figured it out from context, but it would be cool for somebody into more detail.

Probably worth pointing out that the "unstuck" function that the author found so remarkable that he turned into the article's URL is pretty common in MMO games.

It's interesting that Kotaky somehow things an /unstuck command is a shocking addition for any MMO.

NinjaEdit: Great minds think alike. I will leave my typo as a monument to my slowness.

So you're saying this is a game full of hilarious fucked up bugs that you can experience online and record?

Is there, like, a 4-pack option anyone wants to go in on with me?

I watched a video of it yesterday and yes it does seem like a game that is far from complete.

But I do think it does has potential so hopefully they get it sorted.

I don't know why you would risk releasing a game in it's current state though because it just gives off a negative first impression, one that you might not recover from even if the game turns out to be solid once it's fixed.

Hopefully it works out for them, and for those who paid for it.

I think this just adds credence to the arguments against F2P MMOs. Never good to see broken games with major backing, but I'm not entirely surprised.

Patrick Klepek bringing us the hot scoops.
Welp, time to flex that new refund system on Steam it looks like.

Oh, wow, it's on PC.

About This Game
Ever wonder what sort of secrets are hidden amongst nature? Now’s your chance to find out. Soar through the skies, swim the depths of the ocean, and explore the lush rainforests in Wander, the non-combat explorative-based MMO.

Walking Simulator MMO. I don't even think it's the first... RPS covered one a long while back, but I can't recall the name.

I was going to ask if it actually had a UI, but this answers my question.

Yeah I watched Jim Sterling's video on it earlier and it just looked so damn boring. I've got no idea what they were going for with this one. It's as close to a 'walking simulator' as you're going to get.

Yeah after seeing Jim Sterling's video (well...I skimmed it...) I can't really imagine even buying it for buggy fun, the moment to moment seems painfully dull. If all you do is explore you have to have something fantastic to explore.

lol...how is this not an Early Access on steam?

Maybe they were afraid if they launched in early access people would expect them to fix it

I would totally download if it was free and had montizations. just to experience this masterwork. But instead now I get to hear my daughter talk about it after she watches lets players on youtube.

I can't believe they have the balls to make a walking tree simulator and then not even negotiate a LOTR license to make them Ents.

The "stuck" button is notable (and also a bit funny) because the UI looks incredibly amateur and it says something like "Can't move? Press this..." which just seems very casual.
