Witcher 3 sold 4 million copies in the first 2 weeks!

Whoa whoa

That's nightmare fuel. Why would you even say that?

Well I don't think EA, Activision etc will aquire them but wouldn't suprise me that much if CDproject strikes a publishing deal with one of the big three. Witcher 3 has definitely sold really really well but dem EA/Activision marketing moneys (see Destiny).

Have CDPR given any indication they will stop supporting the release?

They are working in their 6th patch for PC and have released a couple for consoles already.

Yes, actually I think they have been working hard on all versions, pumping out patches on all with regularity. Amazing sales, and going by feedback it is deserved.

Thats great to hear, but this game deserves a lot more than that. How does it compare to Skyrim over the same timeframe?

Well CDPR have suddenly hit the big time, and it's possible Marcin and the other shareholders quite like money...

I don't know about shareholders, but Marcin and the management

1) already have enough money that they probably do not know what to do with it
2) aren't doing this for the money, they value their independence too much

This is a great victory for traditional gamers and the new consoles. Hopefully it leads to more investment in the new consoles. Congrats CDPR. I did my part.

The generation is starting to take off. It will be nice to stop the doom and gloom regarding the console industry. Batman is gonna do great this month too.

I think the game should easily pass 10 million, 15 million is definitely possible.

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.
My most regrettable game purchase in a very long time. I cannot stand clunky combat, it bugs me to no end.

I think the status of Witcher as Poland's national pride will also prevent them the sell their shares.
It could happened, but very unlikely.

4 million?!? Holy shit! That's incredible! Congrats on the incredible success CDPR.

Given the previous sales in the series it seems like there were a lot of people who picked it up as their first Witcher game. I'd machine the sizable PR push helped out a lot. Especially the Clueless Gamer segment with Conan. That shit was hilarious.

A part of me wants to drop Witcher 2 and jump right into Witcher 3, but 2 is quite interesting story-wise and I just got out of the prison in the beginning. I hear the game gets quite better.

I would predict that total PC sales are around 1-1.3 million copies considering the atypical situation.

I would be interesting to get some hard numbers from CDPR and Rockstar, as GTAV launched under similar conditions.

What? There are way to many extraneous factors to attempt to calculate a net. Let alone arbitrarily breaking it up like you have.

Steam alone has already broken your....

Oh, it's Canis.

Thinks for pointing out the obvious.

Good for them they deserve every single one of those sales, loved all the little extras they added in my standard edition preorder, really went above and beyond it was great. Don't know any other company giving little thank yous like that.

Keep going with TW2. The final act is crazy (in a good way). It's also quite a short game in all.

Well deserved. I'm confident it'll sell many times that in its lifetime.

I think Witcher 3 will be an eventual 10 million seller given it's word of mouth and continual support (along with significant DLC).

All this positivity has motivated me to properly finish up the first 2 games. I'm done with the first and started a serious play of the second one with my saved file of the Witcher 1. :] You have a better grasp of the plot points in Assassin of kings if you completed the first game (along with good gear which has been ported over such as the raven armor).

I didnt check for accuracy but Ive seen others citing Skyrim did 7 million and Mass Effect 3 did 3.5 million in their first month. So still a long way from Skyrim but, surprisingly, well above Mass Effect 3s first month.

Why would they? Looking back on how they started, it clearly shows that their current method, of bringing their games to us players and how they treat their customers with support, no drm and free dlcs and stuff, is paying off. It clearly looks like they'll have a great future ahead if they continue this way.

Hahaha, you sound like me when I was trying to beat W1 to play W2. The game is well worth playing, W2 is one of my favorite titles from last-gen. I think you will appreciate W3 more if you play through it. Witcher 1 is also a great experience.

I'd argue Witcher 1 is even better than 2 so I love the fact that Witcher 3 feels more like a sequel to the first game. Witcher 2 is still necessary to play though as it sets 3 up so well.

I wonder of the success of the game will encourage whoever is in charge of the book rights to get English translations of the rest of the books out there.
