But y?

Why can't Sanzaru just work on mediocre Sly games and stay there? -_-

And I suppose a 3DS followup was inevitable, but this was not the news I wanted to see after my workout.

The demo of the first game had the longest Sonic stage I've ever seen. It was like 20 minutes long I swear. Cut the fat, make them shorter and faster and you might have a decent game this time.

Weaker package as a whole, but ROL has possibly my fav title music for ANY Sonic game.

Whenever I hear this, I think Jurassic Park ^^.

Sonic Boom on 3DS was decent, but the absurdely long main levels were a chore. I hope they split them up into smaller levels this time. And make the game last more than 3 hours.

I hope Sega keeps churning these out, the promise of amazing Giant Bomb quick looks alone are worth the second hand embarrassment of witnessing another nail being driven into a coffin already comprised entirely of nails.

Also, screw the show. Make a Splatoon cartoon instead.

So there it is, another game for devaluate the Sonic brand again while we probably will wait for another year for a new good Sonic.

Sega is run by idiots. They really are, they start to get back the good name from Sonic with Colors and Generations, and now they're trying so hard to bring it back to the shit it was pre-Unleashed with these Boom games.

Btw, I know the series probably does well, but we are talking about the games, and the Boom games, not the series. It's like releasing Sonic 2006 part 2.

So basically main Sonic Team is working on throwaway F2P phone releases and the console/handheld games are being farmed out to other devs with little to no quality control with Boom as the main priority. And people thought the Sonic franchise couldn't possibly be in a worse position after 06 happened.

I guess all handheld Sonics will be like this from now on :(

Could be decent, but Shattered Crystal was boring as sin. I'll give up waiting for the Sonic game I want now.

Dude I love sanzaru so much, I hope they dont get stuck with small dev cycles and rushed games.

Truth is, rushed games suck, and if your games suck, other publishers might not want you to make games for them.

Its an awful cycle, sony save sanzaru from this please. They deserve sooooooooooooo much.

Nah, eventually the cartoon will go off air.

If the focus was to use the cartoon to boost the games, rather than the other way around, you could have a point

You're right — though Sega has pooled in a lot of money for the Sonic Boom franchise, and given the amount of chaos and restructuring is going on at their offices…uh oh.
Plus: What if this is the 'Sonic Mach II' rumour? The one Tezuka mentioned wasn't being developed by Sonic Team?

imo, perhaps we may still get games based on Sega Sonic, but I wouldn't be surprised if their exclusive to smartphones as in Sonic Runners.

How long did they have their "good name" back for? Even Lost World had a mixed reception.

Let's not forget that reviewers never completely wrote Sonic off even during the Shadow/06 days because the handheld Dimps games were still pretty good. Sonic doesn't even have that going for him right now. Unless this game turns out good, that is

Some say Sonic will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Despite restricting sega has sega they are going to make sonic games, why not sonic makes them money.

I doubt it.

So I guess actual Sonic games are going to go away? No Generations sequel? Just tie ins to the cartoon because kids like that and the 3DS games will sell.

Looks alright, at least it looks like a more traditional style sonic game. Sanzaru is a solid studio so at least the game is in good hands.

Too funny. They should've tried rebranding the show after the failed game. Or rebranding the game. Then again they'd miss out on the ignorant parent money if they did that.

I played the demo and thought it was the worst 2D Sonic I've ever played. It made Sonic 4 look like a masterpiece. Oh my lord the pacing.

Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal is terrible if you're expecting a classic 2D Sonic. As it's own unique entry in the Sonicverse, it's a fun little title.

Eh, I dunno. From what I've seen of Sanzaru they seem to be next WayForward/Gearbox. Sometimes they care, sometimes they don't.

Last year's 3DS game wasn't bad. Just nothing special..and darn the levels were too long. Sometimes felt you were just running in circles since it looked the same, only with an enemy here now.

Music was kind of cheery, but the gameplay looks yet again like another pastiche of Sonic level tropes strung together without any real clue or sense of pacing.

Which doesn't take rocket science to observe from a trailer. The character speed is off, the running sections go on for way too long with minimal scrolling, level design looks barren.

"What do you get when you cross fire with ice"

You get Steam.

PC release confirmed.

(I apologise if someone already made this appalling joke)

Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
PLEASE BE GOOD

Fire and ice is such a cool theme

Sonic Boom had so much potential

Don't let us down again.
